usingcontextual-Graphs (CxG) to represent organizational activity supports selecting key performance indicators (KPIs) that are free from causality assumptions and measuring practice-based organizational learning as distinct from organizational change. this paper presents four tools developed as part of a research program to extend CxG to practice-based organizational learning and performance improvement. Aspectual comparison of practices represented in contextual graphs together with a practice-based organizational learning novelty typology, a practice maturity model, and an organizational-performance-improvement prioritization matrix operationalize the construct of practice maturity that is proposed as a guide for researchers and practitioners in understanding and improving practice-based activity management. Results are presented for a transport planning organization that elucidate the role of context in practice-based organizational learning and performance improvement in the case of an activity (light rail route selection) that involved both political/managerial and engineering decisions.

A new topological model of camera network coverage, based on a weighted hypergraph representation, is introduced. the model's theoretical basis is the coverage strength model, presented in previous work and summarized here. Optimal distribution of task processing is approximated by adapting a local search heuristic for parallel machine scheduling to this hypergraph model. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate its effectiveness.

Background: As protein domains are functional and structural units of proteins, a large proportion of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) are achieved by domain-domain interactions (DDIs), many computational efforts have been made to identify DDIs from experimental PPIs since high throughput technologies have produced a large number of PPIs for different species. these methods can be separated into two categories: deterministic and probabilistic. In deterministic methods, parsimony assumption has been utilized. Parsimony principle has been widely used in computational biology as the evolution of the nature is considered as a continuous optimization process. In the context of identifying DDIs, parsimony methods try to find a minimal set of DDIs that can explain the observed PPIs. this category of methods are promising since they can be formulated and solved easily. Besides, researches have shown that they can detect specific DDIs, which is often hard for many probabilistic methods. We notice that existing methods just view PPI networks as simply assembled by single interactions, but there is now ample evidence that PPI networks should be considered in a global (systematic) point of view for it exhibits general properties of complex networks, such as 'scale-free' and 'small-world'. Results: In this work, we integrate this global point of view into the parsimony-based model. Particularly, prior knowledge is extracted from these global properties by plausible reasoning and then taken as input. We investigate the role of the added information extensively through numerical experiments. Results show that the proposed method has improved performance, which confirms the biological meanings of the extracted prior knowledge. Conclusions: this work provides us some clues for usingthese properties of complex networks in computational models and to some extent reveals the biological meanings underlying these general network properties.

Transportation engineering is a mature discipline of engineering that provides effective and efficient methods and tools for traffic modeling and capacity planning, however, these artifacts incur limitations in the context of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) because they seldom incorporate cyber issues in their design. Conversely, Computer Science provides many sophisticated solutions for resource management in the cyber world but often overlook physical issues inherent in ITS. Consequently, neither discipline prepares designers and planners to implement a fully functional ITS. Capacity planning solutions for ITS require solutions that can holistically integrate physical artifacts, such as traffic modeling, with cyber artifacts, such as solutions for real-time information dissemination over wireless networks. To address these challenges, this paper presents preliminary ideas on the design of a framework based on the principles of surrogate modeling wherein small-scale, micro-simulations of the ITS cyber physical system are used to develop training points, which in turn are used to train a surrogate model. the surrogate model is subsequently used to make planning decisions for ITS.

context-aware applications can satisfy users' information needs without consuming too much time in discovering information adaptive to users. In this paper, we propose a personalized information system to provide more user-oriented information considering context information such as a personal profile with preferences, location, traffic condition, weather, time, event, and so on. Our system architecture is designed to support an effective execution usage on Web set-vices and client applications. We implement a map viewer using a shape type of map format files with Points of Interest(PoI) information. Also, our system can provide associated search results from relations between the objects usingcontext ontologies modeling created by the categorized layers of geospatial data.
