A new topological model of camera network coverage, based on a weighted hypergraph representation, is introduced. the model's theoretical basis is the coverage strength model, presented in previous work and summarized here. Optimal distribution of task processing is approximated by adapting a local search heuristic for parallel machine scheduling to this hypergraph model. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate its effectiveness.

New product design is a crucial process for the firm and always induces innovative and unstructured situations that must be deeply analysed. the firms need tools that allow essential knowledge elements to be acquired and structured and new knowledge representations to be created and proposed in communication contexts, to become shared and operational models. Reasoning about context is essential for the choice and correct use of a tool or the intelligent integration of different tools to support the decision in the process. the relationships between decisional and operative contexts have been analysed in relation to real processes of new product design and three different situations of decision support are proposed as possible forms of a hybrid approach, which integrates context modelling and decision support.

the definition of context experienced an evolution in the research area of context-aware computing, but still suffers from either generality or incompleteness. Furthermore, many definitions are driven by the ease of implementation. this paper introduces two extensions to available context definitions that provide a natural understanding of this concept to users of context-aware applications and facilitates the engineering of this concept for software developers of such applications.
Much context data comes from mobile, transient, and unreliable sources. Such resources are best specified by descriptive names identifying what data is needed rather than which source is to provide it. the design of d...

context-aware systems are software systems which adapt their behaviour according to the context of use. the requirements engineering phase is recognized as a primordial step to develop robust implementations of context-aware systems since it establishes a comprehensive understanding of the problem space. this paper proposes the context-Oriented Domain Analysis (CODA) model which is a specialized approach for analyzing, structuring, and formalizing the software requirements of context-aware systems.

this paper applies agents to the highly dynamic and variable context of healthcare emergency decision-support domain. More specifically we advocate the use of mobile agents to support the deployment of an ambulance service in real-time. We presented an implementation of the proposed agent based architecture, which was based on the specific functional and non-functional application requirements set out based on thorough analysis of literature. We also created an illustrative emergency scenario in order to demonstrate the validity and feasibility of our proposed model. From the evaluation of the implementation we were able to identify some of the major technical advantages it has to offer as well as challenges one needs to address in similar attempts. We choose mobile agents as the key enabling technology because they offer a single, general framework in which large-scale distributed real-time decision support applications can be implemented more efficiently. Healthcare was chosen as the target application domain to emphasize boththe benefits derived from the exploitation of mobile agent paradigm in this domain as well as to demonstrate the benefits of the proposed approach in the highly uncertain context.

context-awareness is considered as a key problem in designing more adaptive applications in pervasive computing community. contextmodeling and reasoning, which deal with high-level abstraction and inference of pervasive contextual information, are important research areas of context-awareness computing. Efforts have been put into these two areas and several prototype systems have been proposed. However, the huge amounts Of contextual information in pervasive environment make existing systems inefficient, even useless. In this paper, we propose Enhanced Application-oriented contextmodeling and Reasoning (EACMR) system to deal withthis problem. In EACMR system, we develop a context ontology (ACMRONT) to model the contexts in the pervasive computing. Different from previous researches, a context filter is designed to classify contexts by their importance. To promote the performance of the system, the reasoner in EACMR only deals withthe application-related contextual information rather than all the available contextual information. Experiments about EACMR system demonstrate its higher performance than those of previous systems.
