We propose and implement a low-cost thai voice gateway that combines current technology in network systems and telephony. It enhances traditional telephony-based applications with access to resources on the Web. the system is based on open standards for speech technology and existing open source software. It supports the VoiceXML markup language for voice dialogs. the MRCP protocol for communication with a speech engine provider, and effectively recognizes and synthesizes thai speech. the system uses a client/server architecture separated into 3 main modules: the VoiceXML, interpreter, the speech engine interface. and the telephone integration system. the current prototype still needs improvement but is functional enough to provide a basis for future enhancement. We have released the system as open source software for interested developers.

Natural language processing (NLP) systems are able to assist developers in their analysis tasks during software development. these systems have empowered computer Aided softwareengineering (CASE) tools in detecting classes in the requirements document (RD). However, unnecessary classes are included in the final model due to inherent language ambiguity. this paper outlines shortcomings of existing NLP-based CASE systems, the potential use of controlled language for writing RD, the generation of use cases (UCs) from RD to permit automatic generation of appropriate object models such as sequence and class diagrams, and the current research progress. the idea presented in this paper is a result of the early stage of my PhD research.

Modern manufacturing systems are subject to many disruptions due to increased competition. they are subject to many configuration changes during their life cycle and must cost-effectively make these changes. Intelligent component-based development enables the rapid design of control systems. this paper presents a new methodology for structuring the control architecture of cyber-physical systems with intelligent components: the Hierarchical Intelligent Component Architecture (HICA). Compared to traditional design methods, this methodology integrates the design of the physical and software architecture simultaneously. this paper also describes the model-driven engineering to realize this architecture using SysML diagrams to implement the code in IEC 61499 standard. Diagram Linkage Table (DTL) is the central element that allows the transition from SysML diagrams to IEC 61499.

this paper presents a controlled experiment specifically designed to investigate the influence of 'process patterns' on the requirement analysis phase of software development projects. To differentiate, the experimental groups were given a set of process patterns to use in their software development projects, while the controlled groups employed non-pattern solutions. A goal-oriented measurement process, involving a number of metrics, was designed through which measurements of software quality attributes were taken during the life of the projects. the measurements taken, as well as an assessment of the completed project reports, were evaluated and statistically analyzed to investigate the effect of process patterns on the quality of the software projects. the results indicate that the use of process patterns in the management of software development projects improves the quality of the requirement analysis phase in terms of both process and product.

this work investigates how the requirements of multiple single products can be modeled into a feature model as part of domain engineering process in software product line engineering (SPLE) methodology. It adopts an extractive strategy in devising a two-step process for creating the feature model. the first step is by identifying the business process and list of features across all products into a product roadmap. the second step is identifying the commonality and variability of features based on the product roadmap into a feature model. the proposed approach may help a software company that produces software products for certain domain to migrate from traditional single product development lifecycle to software product line development lifecycle.
