In distributed heterogeneous systems, the target application is partitioned and the partitions are executed in different computing units while satisfying the dependencies between the code partitions. Code generation is the process of converting the code partitions into individually executable code clusters and satisfying the code dependencies by adding communication primitives to send and receive data between dependent the code clusters. In this work, we describe a code generation tool that is applicable to procedural language based applications for distributed processing. the application programs along with the partition primitives are converted into independently executable concrete implementations. the process consists of two steps, first translating the primitives of the application program into equivalent code clusters, and then scheduling the implementations of these code clusters according to the inherent data dependencies. Further, the original source code needs to be reverse engineered in order to create a meta-data table describing the program elements and dependency trees. this data gathered, is used along with parallel virtual machine (PVM) primitives for enabling the communication between the partitioned programs in the distributed environment. the proposed code generation model has been implemented using C and tested for various application programs for functional verification.

Mobile intelligent agents may assist the rapid and wide market penetration of services and products offered via e-commerce channels, as they improve the performance and sophistication of systems in the e-business domain. In this framework, the design and evaluation of agents handling automated negotiations on behalf of their human or corporate owners is a challenging research field. this paper proposes to enhance such agents with learning techniques, in order to achieve more profitable results for the parties they represent. As mobile agents have reduced processing capabilities and have to remotely communicate with their peers or migrate to foreign network nodes, the learning mechanisms they employ should require minimal resources. the proposed learning technique is based on neural networks (NNs) and is quite lightweight. It aims to reduce the cases of unsuccessful negotiations and maximize the client's utility. the designed NN-assisted negotiation strategy has been empirically evaluated via numerous experiments

Ubiquitous computing technology has brought high availabilities of network environments. At the same time, it has become a prerequisite for providing appropriate services in accordance with user contexts. For the context-aware services, there have been a wide variety of task applications, but coordination among tasks is still a major issue. Here, this paper proposes behavior coordination mechanism using action selection mechanism for intelligent home environments. In behavior-based control of a robot, a behavior is a series of actions towards a system objective. In the same way, high level applications for a smart home can be considered behaviors of a robot since task applications generally have activity scenarios to achieve their own objectives; a robot is not just a physical single robot but a robotic system from a broad point of view. In order to avoid multiple objective behavior conflict, this paper focuses on the subsumption architecture as an action section mechanism, and also introduces service management techniques for seamless services at an intelligent home

Where customers with different membership and position, use computers as in the university network systems, it often takes much time and efforts for them to cope with the change of the system management. this is because the requirements for the respective computer usage are different in the network and security policies. In this paper, a new destination addressing control system (DACS) scheme for the university network services is proposed. the DACS scheme performs the network services efficiently through the communication management of a client. As the characteristic of DACS scheme, only the setup modification is required by a system administrator, when the configuration change is needed in the network server. then, the setup modification is unnecessary by a customer, which shows a merit for both a system administrator and a customer. this paper describes the instruction and the prototype for DACS protocol as the implementation of DACS scheme. then, the simplicity of the system management in DACS scheme, is examined from the customer and the system administrator viewpoints

MPI (message passing interface) is the inter-node communication interface used in today PC clusters and other cluster-type parallel/distributed systems. Up-to-date the most popular analytical MPI performance model for parallel/distributed machines is the LogGP model, which is based on system hardware parameters. Recently, the improvements in connection network and communication protocols have lead to the dramatically changes in the contributions of hardware parameters to the model communication time. So LogGP model needs to be re-evaluated for its format and hardware parameters, to include the effect of message structures, which is in form of communication middleware overheads. In this paper, we use our experiment results to show that the current LogGP communication model is too limited for today parallel/distributed systems. We propose a modification by including into the model additional system parameters to represent middleware costs on non-contiguous data. We show in this paper our theoretical and experimental results for point-to-point communication, and explain how performance models for other communication patterns can be similarly created

this paper presents a multi-agent testing architecture (MATA) for monitoring and analyzing the performance of Web applications in J2EE environments. this architecture includes agents and sub agents that collaborate and communicate with each other to measure the use of resources of the application server, to collect and process the data, and to analyze the data and to generate performance reports. A load testing, monitoring and analyzing system (LTMA) has been developed using the MATA. Several experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of Web applications running on two middleware platforms that are Apache and WebSphere. Based on a capacity test, the experimental results prove that the MATA is reliable, flexible, extendible and reusable. the LTMA works correctly and produces expected results

In this paper, we outline the effort prediction model and the evaluation experiment. In addition we explore the parameters in the model. the model predicts effort of embedded software developments via multiple regression analysis using the collaborative filtering. Because companies, recently, focus on methods to predict effort of projects, which prevent project failures such as exceeding deadline and cost, due to more complex embedded software, which brings the evolution of the performance and function enhancement. In the model, we have fixed two parameters named k and ampmax, which would influence the accuracy of predicting effort. Hence, we investigate a tendency of them in the model and find the optimum value

the n-version programming (NVP) is a programming approach for constructing fault tolerant software systems. this approach employs functionally equivalent, yet independently developed software components. Each component is independently designed and implemented to meet the same system requirements. the same set of inputs is supplied to all n versions and they produce their own results. A decision mechanism then gathers the results from n versions and determines the result to be delivered to the user. In general, the NVP design problem has been formulated as the single-objective problem maximizing the reliability under the constraint of the cost limit. For such formulations, the dynamic programming or the genetic algorithms have been used. they are, however, time-consuming and do not guarantee to produce the least-dominated solutions. In this paper, reformulate NVP design problem as the multi-objective optimization problem that seek Pareto solutions, and we then propose an algorithm that employs the BFS (breadth-first search) method to find the Pareto solutions under practical computation time

Mobility service for hospital technicians involved in telemedicine applications is one of the key issues in providing more flexible and efficient in-house or remote health care services. Today, the Internet based communication has widened the opportunity of event monitoring systems in the medical field. the session initiation protocol (SIP) can work on a variety of devices and can be used to create a medical event notification system. Its adoption as the protocol of choice for third generation wireless networks allows for a robust and scalable environment. One of the advantages of SIP is that it supports personal mobility through the separation of user addressing and device addressing. this paper investigates the performance of robust control for broadband disturbance using acoustic pressure minimization over space and frequency. the theory and simulations of the acoustic pressure minimisation using H 2 control for two-channel and three-channel systems are presented. Constrained minimisation of the pressure is introduced, to achieve control over the pressure in both space and frequency. the results show that good attenuation is achieved at the desired range over space and frequency using a two-channel system. However better performance could be achieved using a three-channel system. the shape and the location of the attenuation area could also be controlled using a three-channel system. the work presented in this paper is the first part of the study and only concerns a plane wave primary field with two and three secondary sources for simplicity. In the next part of the study a more realistic sound field like a diffuse field will be investigated and some experiments will also be carried out
