We propose a novel, progressive, adaptive sampling method, that efficiently varies the sampling rate in local regions of a function based on the distribution of already collected samples. We show that for many functions, increasing the sampling rate in a region of a function with relatively higher complexity is achieved by the equalization of the histogram of the sampled function values. the sampling scheme thus achieves two purposes that are shown to be equivalent; efficiently adapted sampling rates based on local function complexity, and an improvement in diversity in the sampled function values. We achieve the sampling, progressively, through an active walker model. the sample points are placed based on the location of simulated active walkers whose movement is adapted at each stage to achieve the required histogram equalization. the only requirement by this algorithm is the ability to obtain the value of the function at each sample point; no a priori information on the relative levels of local variation of the function being sampled is required. We illustrate this concept with some examples, and discuss practical applications in the two broad areas of adaptive sampling, and improving diversity in samples

To improve software productivity, when constructing new softwaresystems, developers often reuse existing class libraries or frameworks by invoking their APIs. those APIs, however, are often complex and not well documented, posing barriers for developers to use them in new client code. To get familiar with how those APIs are used, developers may search the Web using a general search engine to find relevant documents or code examples. Developers can also use a source code search engine to search open source repositories for source files that use the same APIs. Nevertheless, the number of returned source files is often large. It is difficult for developers to learn API usages from a large number of returned results. In order to help developers understand API usages and write API client code more effectively, we have developed an API usage mining framework and its supporting tool called MAPO (for Mining API usages from Open source repositories). Given a query that describes a method, class, or package for an API, MAPO leverages the existing source code search engines to gather relevant source files and conducts data mining. the mining leads to a short list of frequent API usages for developers to inspect. MAPO currently consists of five components: a code search engine, a source code analyzer, a sequence preprocessor, a frequent sequence miner, and a frequent sequence post processor. We have examined the effectiveness of MAPO using a set of various queries. the preliminary results show that the framework is practical for providing informative and succinct API usage patterns. For a large scale of software development, there is a tremendous number of software requirements documents in a collection which may be produced for different domains by different developer teams. they may be later reused to reduce cost and time for the next development. thus, there is a need to retrieve ones that meet user's need efficiently. this paper presents an approach for software requirements specification retrieval in a form of use case description using use case structure and similarity computation between terms of use case query and use cases in the collection. the contribution of the paper has five main points; 1) the approach for retrieving use case description is proposed, 2) the developed tool supporting the approach is presented, 3) the experiment is designed to measure effectiveness of the approach, 4) the results of the experiment are shown to compare effectiveness of the approach to that of a general approach, and finally 5) the recommended use case description query template is proposed.

the ability of a sensor network to parse out observable activities into a set of distinguishable actions is a powerful feature that can potentially enable many applications of sensor networks to everyday life situations. In this paper we introduce a framework that uses a hierarchy of probabilistic context free grammars (PCFGs) to perform such parsing. the power of the framework comes from the hierarchical organization of grammars that allows the use of simple local sensor measurements for reasoning about more macroscopic behaviors. Our presentation describes how to use a set of phonemes to construct grammars and how to achieve distributed operation using a messaging model. the proposed framework is flexible. It can be mapped to a network hierarchy or can be applied sequentially and across the network to infer behaviors as they unfold in space and time. We demonstrate this functionality by inferring simple motion patterns using a sequence of simple direction vectors obtained from our camera sensor network testbed

this research tries to study in fourth year brain paralysis student in Tung-hai university as the research object, adopt the law of case study, and select Pocket PC to be a communicative complement intervention after the case is assessed, whether probing into Pocket PC improving the ability or quality of the case to intervene into communicating effectively. It adopts Pocket PC and PMLS (Picture Master Language software), as intervention in the tool, Pocket PC link up with PMLS the systematic communication is trained and be divided into five methods: (1) Wrong rate: the case interface distinguishes the correct and wrong rate (2)Efficiency: Click and select to communicate average time (3) Learnability: the system should be easy to learn (4) Memorability: System should be easy to memory (5) Satisfaction: the commenting amount of the case operates the precise familiar degree complemented and links up the improvement degree of ability in each training. this result of study is found: After utilizing the interface of the school life terms designed to apply to communicate and complement getting involved in pronunciation, the case operates the pronunciation and communicates and complements the ability to reach the precise familiar degree, and no matter in the interface distinguishes leading correctly, average deadline or studying respect make apparent progress. this research has proposed the concrete suggestion separately in assessing the procedure, intervene into training in complement, man-machine interface and future to study.
