Parallel kinematics robots are often used in high-speed pick and place applications, since their mechanical characteristics result in superior dynamic performance. Achievable speed and accelerations are also affected by the control algorithm, with centralized controllers typically leading to substantial improvements over decentralized ones. Several centralized control algorithms are therefore described in the literature, and often tested in simulation or through the execution of simple and slow movements. this article compares two centralized inverse dynamics motion control systems applied to a 5R parallel robot: one featuring integral contributions, the other characterized by sliding mode terms. the test trajectory is representative of a fast pick and place operation on two moving conveyor belts;the experimental findings concern, for the two regulators, the achieved errors, the overall control torques, and the several contributions to the control action. the results show that the integral regulator achieves overall smaller tracking errors, even though high-curvature portions of the test trajectory are better tracked using the Sliding Mode Control algorithm.

this paper explores the issue of enabling Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications (URLLC) in view of the spatio-temporal correlations that characterize real 5th generation (5G) Industrial Internet of things (IIoT) networks. In this context, we consider a common Standalone Non-Public Network (SNPN) architecture as promoted by the 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA), and propose a new variant of the 5G NR semi-persistent scheduler (SPS) to deal with uplink traffic correlations. A benchmark solution with a "smart" scheduler (SSPS) is compared with a more realistic adaptive approach (ASPS) that requires the scheduler to estimate some unknown network parameters. We demonstrate via simulations that the 1-ms latency requirement for URLLC is fulfilled in both solutions, at the expense of some complexity introduced in the management of the traffic. Finally, we provide numerical guidelines to dimension IIoT networks as a function of the use case, the number of machines in the factory, and considering both periodic and aperiodic traffic.

Hyperspectral (HS) image has rich spectral information content, which facilitates multiple applications including remote sensing. Due to the big data size of the HS image, compression is a required process for the efficiency of image storage and transmission. However, the complexity of the compression algorithms turns real-time compression into a very challenging task. A novel listless set partitioned hyperspectral image compression algorithm is proposed. the proposed compression algorithm uses zero block cube tree structure to exploit the inter and intra sub-band correlation to achieve the compression. From the result, it has been clear that the proposed compression algorithm has low coding complexity with at-par coding efficiency. thus, it can be a suitable contender for low-resource hyperspectral image sensors.

Hardware accelerators for deep learning algorithms are the cornerstone of intelligence in the aviation field. the adoption of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) as embedded coprocessors for algorithm acceleration has gained wide acceptance. Decision-making games are critical tasks, where their accuracy and real-time performance directly influence the outcome of aerial engagements. Traditional FPGA development using hardware description languages is associated with long development cycles, high complexity, slow iteration, and challenges in swiftly responding to model algorithm updates. In contrast, FPGA design based on High Level Synthesis (HLS) provides an appropriate technology pathway to circumvent these drawbacks. A specific deep learning algorithm related to aircraft decision games is implemented, optimized, and deployed on FPGA via HLS. the FPGA is connected to the host machine via PCIe as a coprocessor, achieving holistic coupled acceleration. Comparative testing against running the algorithm on an ftd2000 eight-core CPU and an Intel i9-9900k processor demonstrates that using FPGA as a coprocessor significantly reduces algorithm execution time, resulting in a noticeable acceleration effect. © 2023 IEEE.

A fast and reliable procedure for the assessment of masonry building aggregates is presented through a homemade limit analysis-based method. In Italy and many southern European countries, most of the historical city centers are characterized by masonry buildings clustered in aggregates. their seismic assessment is fundamental for their preservation. Since in such kinds of constructions earthquakes typically trigger local failure mechanisms, the proposed limit analysis-based approach allows their identification and the evaluation of the corresponding collapse acceleration. Infinitely resistant hexahedron elements are used to discretize the structure. Dissipation occurs only at elements' interfaces, meaning that static and kinematic problems coincide, being one the dual of the other. Since the kinematic approach is more straightforward, it is used to evaluate collapse loads, failure mechanisms, and interface plastic multipliers. In addition, internal actions on interfaces may be retrieved from the static dual problem. the procedure proposed evaluates the spectral acceleration and automatically provides safety checks as required by the italian building code. the method is benchmarked on portions of real case studies, namely two buildings exhibiting high complexity in Piacenza, Italy.

Aiming at the problems of high computational complexity of the commonly used partial transmit sequence (PTS) algorithm and signal distortion caused by U-transform in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, a suboptimal hierarchical iterative PTS (SH-IPTS) combined with U-transform peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) suppression method is proposed, which further optimizes the flow of the SH-IPTS algorithm and combines with the U-transform method to achieve the PAPR suppression of waveforms with less computing burden and low distortion. Simulation results show that this method is better than the SH-IPTS and U-transform algorithms for PAPR suppression, with lower computational complexity and waveform distortion, and achieving the suppression effect of “u=3” at “u=1”.

A critical step in P4 compilation is finding an efficient mapping of the high-level P4 source code constructs to the physical resources exposed by the underlying hardware, while meeting data and control flow dependencies in the program. In this paper, we take a new look at the algorithmic aspects of this problem, with the motivation to understand the fundamental theoretical limits and obtain better P4 pipeline embeddings in the dRMT (disaggregated Match-Action Table) switch architecture. We report mixed results. We find that optimizing P4 program embedding for maximizing throughput is computationally intractable even when some architectural constraints are relaxed, and there is no hope for a tractable approximation with arbitrary precision unless P= NP At the same time, we find that the maximal throughput embedding is approximable in quasi-linear time with a small constant bound. Our evaluations show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the heuristics of prior work both in terms of throughput and compilation speed.

Research the application of A* algorithm in path planning. Examine several different optimization strategies for the A* algorithm heuristic function. these strategies aim to improve the search efficiency and path quality of the algorithm. To verify the effectiveness of each strategy, simulations were conducted in two raster map environments with different levels of complexity. the results show that the optimization strategy of the heuristic function can improve the algorithm performance to a certain extent, and the effects of different strategies are related to the complexity of the environment.

the rapid development of the 5th Generation Mobile System (5G) brings many challenges. Since the number of nodes in the Internet of things (IoT) system, 5G adopts millimeter wave and massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology. Due to the large number of IoT nodes, a substantial computational load will be generated in the massive MIMO system when applying the traditional multi-user scheduling algorithms. In this paper, a multi-user scheduling algorithm based on the improved Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) is proposed. this algorithm uses the predictive characteristics of the neural network to calculate the channel capacity. the improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm is used to find the optimal network structure parameters of the CNN to acquire the CNN with high prediction accuracy and achieve low computational complexity in the scenario with massive users accessed.

the need for computers increased quickly. As a result, the program is utilized in a significant and intricate manner. More complex systems are being developed by software businesses. Additionally, customers expect great quality, but the market requires them to finish their assignment faster. Different measuring methods are employed by software firms. Some of these include customer feedback after it has been given to customers, software testing, and stakeholder input. the objective of this project is to use a combination of machine learning techniques to predict software bug states using the NASA MDP dataset. the research process considered data preprocessing methods and applied singular and combination machine learning algorithms. To create the model, the single classifiers were combined using the voting method. Accuracy, precision, and recall were used to evaluate the model's effectiveness, along with tenfold cross-validation. the promising result was recorded by a combination of J48 and SMO classifiers. Before attempting to test the software product, the researcher retrieved attribute data from the source code;the complexity of the software product will then be ascertained using the constructed model. the main contribution of this study is to improve software quality by incorporating a machine learning framework into the present software development life cycle between implementation and testing. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
