the development of Spiking Neural Networks (SNN) and the discipline of Neuromorphic Engineering has resulted in a paradigm shift in how Machine Learning (ML) and Computer Vision (CV) problems are approached. At the heart of this shift is the adoption of event-based sensing and processing methods. the production of sparse and asynchronous events that are dynamically connected to the scene is possible with an event-based vision sensor, allowing for the acquisition of not just spatial data but also high-fidelity temporal data. In this work, we describe a novel method for performing instance segmentation of objects, only using their spatio-temporal movement patterns, by utilising the weights of an unsupervised Spiking Convolutional Neural Network that was originally trained for object recognition and extending it to instance segmentation. this takes advantage of the network's spatial and temporal characteristics encoded within its internal feature representation, to offer this additional discriminative ability. We demonstrate this through a track path identification problem, where 6 identical blobs complete complex movement patterns within the same area at the same time. the network is able to successfully identify all 6 individual movements and segment the movement patterns belonging to each. the work then also explains how these methods map into the more complex Track before Detect problem. A complex track initiation problem, where detection can only be completed after an integration period, due to the low signal, high noise environment. these problem characteristics seem to complement the properties of event-based sensing and processing and initial test results are shown.

We investigate the detection of broadband weak transient signals by monitoring a projection of the measurement data onto the noise-only subspace derived from the stationary sources. this projection utilises a broadband subspace decomposition of the data's space-time covariance matrix. the energy in this projected 'syndrome' vector is more discriminative towards the presence or absence of a transient signal than the original data, and can be enhanced by temporal averaging. We investigate the statistics, and indicate in simulations how discrimination can be traded off with the time to reach a decision, as well as with the sample size over which the space-time covariance is estimated.

the space-time covariance matrix derived from broadband multichannel data admits - unless the data emerges from a multiplexing operation - a parahermitian matrix eigenvalue decomposition with analytic eigenvalues and analytic eigenvectors. the extraction of analytic eigenvalues has been solved previously in the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) domain;this paper addresses the approximation of analytic eigenvectors in the DFT domain. this is a two-stage process - in the first instance, we identify eigen-spaces in which analytic eigenvectors can reside. this stage resolves ambiguities al frequencies where eigenvalues have algebraic mulitplicities greater than one. In a second stage, the phase ambiguity of eigenvectors is addressed by determining a maximally smooth phase response. Finally, a metric for the approximation error is derived, which allows us to increase the DFT length and iterate the two stages until a desired accuracy is reached.

Compared with single ISAR image recognition, multiple ISAR images contain more target information, which is more conducive to target recognition. Simultaneously considering the non-cooperation and complexity of target motion, ISAR image usually has low-resolution or even cannot be generated, this paper proposes a feature fusion model for ISAR images which takes account of both recognition rate and robustness. In this model, feature information is extracted based on Botnet and multi-sensor features are fused based on Embracenet. the experimental results based on the simulation data set show that in the five types of target recognition tasks under different elevation angles, the classification accuracy of the proposed method based on the fusion features of two ISAR images is better than that of single ISAR image. In the absence of one ISAR image, the recognition rate decreased slightly, and was still higher than that of the single ISAR image method. © 2021 IEEE.

the ensemble-optimum support for a sample space-time covariance matrix can be determined from the ground truth space-time covariance, and the variance of the estimator. In this paper we provide approximations that permit the estimation of the sample-optimum support from the estimate itself, given a suitable detection threshold. In simulations, we provide some insight into the (in)sensitivity and dependencies of this threshold.

this paper presents an analysis of the Doppler tolerance and isolation properties of five different sets of piecewise linear frequency modulated (PLFM) waveform triplets consisting of a combination of LFM subchirps. Different combinations of PLFM signals are used to produce waveforms with the same timebandwidth product and optimise them with respect to isolation. the performance of the proposed waveforms are numerically investigated and a comparison between sets is presented. Results confirm that the waveforms have quasi-orthogonal properties and exhibit a degree of Doppler tolerance.

there are lots of line traces on the surface of the broken ends which left in the cable cutting case crime scene along the high-speed railway in China. the line traces usually present nonlinear morphological features and has strong randomness. It is not very effective when using existing image-processing and three-dimensional scanning methods to do the trace comparison, therefore, a fast algorithm based on wavelet domain feature aiming at the nonlinear line traces is put forward to make fast trace analysis and infer the criminal tools. the proposed algorithm first applies wavelet decomposition to the 1-D signals which picked up by single point laser displacement sensor to partially reduce noises. After that, the dynamic time warping is employed to do trace feature similarity matching. Finally, using linear regression machine learning algorithm based on gradient descent method to do constant iteration. the experiment results of cutting line traces sample data comparison demonstrate the accuracy and reliability of the proposed algorithm.

In terms of a weighting-sensor-based measuring system of output quantity for a seeding and fertilizing applicator, a signal processing method which could reliably obtain real-time output quantity was designed by collecting and analyzing the signals of the measuring system in the field. this method was consisted of several procedures as follow: low-pass filtering, mean filtering after high-frequency sampling, moving filtering and linear fitting. the low-pass filter was mainly used to eliminate the high frequency vibration interference produced by the interaction between the rotary cultivator and the soil during field operation. the mean filtering after high-frequency sampling aimed at weakening the random vibration interference. the main function of moving filtering was to remove the low-frequency interference. And the linear fitting was applied in the initial and terminal stages of the sowing and fertilizing output quantity detection in order to obtain more reliable gross output quantity of sowing and fertilizing In order to test the performance of the signal processing method, the field tests of sowing and fertilizing output quantity were carried out. During the tests, 3 levels of target sowing and fertilizing quantity (150Kg/ha, 300Kg/ha, 375Kg/ha for seeding, 225Kg/ha, 375Kg/ha, 525Kg/ha for fertilizing), and 2 levels of vehicle speeds (approximately 2Km/h and 3Km/h respectively) were set to carry out multi-factor cross experiments. Each kind of test repeated 3 times and had a testing distance around 300m in the field. Field test results showed that the maximum relative error of cumulative output quantity was 4.88%, the average relative error was 2.62%, and the standard deviation of relative error was 1.7%. the linear correlation coefficient R-2 between the measured output quantity and the actual output quantity was 0.998. Doppler Beam Sharpening (DBS) provides a computationally efficient way of improving the cross-range resolution of a radar by using the Doppler domain to resolve targets rather than just using the real beam of the radar. Missile seekers are becoming increasingly more capable of using DBS to home onto targets and this gives rise to the need to jam such systems. this paper presents a set of initial simulations that show how a jammer can interfere with a DBS image. the effects and implications of velocity estimation errors in the jamming module are discussed with respect to a practical implementation of the jammer on a low-cost transceiver. © 2017 IEEE.
