Existing missile radar seekers use a mechanical rotating antenna to steer the radiating beam in the direction of the target. Recent research is investigating the possibility to replace the mechanical RF seeker with a novel 3D conformal antenna, embedded below the radome, that can steer the beam electronically. 3D conformal antenna arrays may offer many advantages, such as a higher gain and an extended coverage, and new degrees of freedom which derive from the resulting higher flexibility in the choice of the 3D shape. Despite this, they also present new technical challenges, related to the robustness of the beampattern characteristics as a function of the steering angle, that must be addressed. the overall objective of our research is to design, prototype and assess the performance of novel 3D conformal antenna arrays for RF seekers. In order to do this, a first study has been carried out to generate and display the polarisation pattern of any 3D antenna arrays. In this paper, we present an electromagnetic antenna tool that has been developed to carry out an analysis of beamforming and polarisation for any shape of 3D antennas. the program imports the pattern of an individual element of the array and generates the global radiation pattern by coherently summing the contribution of each element. One feature of the tool is the calculation of the polarisation pattern induced by the conformation which provides a complete description of the time varying electric field of the array.

the paper deals with a conception and implementation of selected parts of laboratory experimental receiver for processing Aeronautical VDL2 data link (VHF Data Link mode 2) messages. For acquiring of digitized signal a software defined RTL-SDR receiver is used. Program MATLAB is used for further signal processing. Implementation of message detection, signal filtration, demodulation, symbol and bit synchronization blocks are described in this paper. © 2017 IEEE.

Determining the location of radar emitters is one of the most important categories of search problems for defence related tasks. Autonomous Air Vehicles (AAVs) that are equipped with electronic support (ES) sensor systems, provide a means of extending search capabilities beyond the visual horizon and detecting such emitters. However;detection alone is not suficient, and so by applying multiple AAVs acting cooperativelj the location of the emitter can be determined by appropriate data fusion processing of the information about the intercepted emitter pulses. Geolocation of the emitter of interest can be achieved by a method known as TimeDifference-of-Arrival (TDOA) processing, and requires a team of cooperative receivers separated by a suitable distance. Team formation between autonomous agent entities requires the presence ofa mechanism by which cooperative team links can be established. these linkages between agents come about because of the presence of driving forces that develop between the agents. In the system of multiple autonomous air vehicles considered in this paper;the objective is to fuse the various capabilities of the AAVs into a coherent entity that can perform geolocation of a radar emittel: the first part of the paper describes the TDOA algorithm. In the second part, the set of behaviours for each AAV are described and the reasoning architecture that enables the individual AAVs to behave collectively to accomplish their mission objective is presented. © 2003 ISlF.

A thermal flow sensor including sensing structures and a read-out interface in a single chip is proposed. the sensing structure is a microcalorimeter based on a double heater configuration while the low noise electronic interface performs signal reading and offset compensation. the device has been fabricated with a commercial CMOS process followed by a post-processing procedure. Post-processing has been customized in order to increase the thermal insulation of the sensing structures from the silicon substrate and improve the heat exchange between the sensor and the gas flow. Device characterization confirms the effectiveness of the proposed fabrication method in increasing the sensitivity at constant power consumption without affecting the dynamic range. Electromyogram (EMG) generates small signal amplitude upon muscle contraction. it is difficult to distinguish the significance of its EMG response but yet its control feasibility has been proven by many research. In this paper, the feasibility of EMG based artificial hand utilizing conventional EMG sensor was put into study. Instead of performing complex processing which may exponentially increase the cost of EMG artificial hand, the concept proposed in this paper, utilizes simple threshold activation key. the rest of the control specification is dealt with force sensor feedback. From this study, it is proven that using conventional EMG sensor to control an artificial hand is feasible to perform simple task. However, further study is required to enhance the reliability of the system.

the Probabilistic Multi-Hypothesis Tracker (PMHT) is a recent algorithm based on the application of Expectation Maximisation to multi-target tracking. the algorithm treats the sensor measurements as independent observations of a mixture model, and the assignment of each measurement as an independent realisation of the mixing process. A result of this is that data association between tracks and measurements is performed independently for each measurement. If the mixing proportions of the mod-els are unknown, then the PMHT estimates them, assuming them to be time independent For most applications;the mixing proportions will not be time independent, but rather change smoothly with time. the PMHT with Hysteresis pro-vides a state model for the mixing proportions, allowing the PMHT to model them as random processes with arbitrary statistics. © Commonwealth of Australia 2003.

the monitoring of leaks in pipelines is an important issue to be addressed by researchers and the public. this is due the fact that they can have a great impact both economically and environmentally. In recent years, the effect of leakages of pipelines carrying oil, gas and nuclear fluids have posed a threat on humans as well as marine life. this paper provides a survey of recent methods of detecting pipeline leaks with special focus on software based methods. these methods include negative pressure wave, mass/volume balance, pressure point analysis, real time transient modeling, statistical methods as well as methods that employing digital signal processing. this paper also surveys some of the recent research attempts that focus on the employment of wireless sensor networks for leak detection and present research challenges that can be encountered in such environments.

A modified reduced minimum variance (MRMV) beamformer has been proposed to enhance performance. Computer simulations with and without mismatch are used to investigate the performance of the MV and MRMV beamformers for horizontal, vertical and billboard arrays. With MV processing, mismatch in the form of errors in sensor positions reduced the performance of all array types. Simulations showed the MRMV consistently outperformed MV for all array configurations even when no mismatch was present. A reduction of time-bandwidth affected the potentially superior performance of arrays with horizontal extent to a much greater degree than vertical arrays. © 1992 IEEE.

A Java-based tool has been designed and implemented to simulate distributed estimation on a wireless sensor network (WSN) platform. the tool allows users to vary several system parameters of the WSN such as the parameter to be estimated;the amount of and type of noise in the system;types of channel impairments;algorithms for data processing at the sensors;and types of estimators. the simulator has been developed by fulfilling the requirements of usability principles in visual software design, and it produces outputs that have relevance to various sensor network applications such as localization, synchronization, and fault detection. Educational opportunities introduced by the tool are two-fold. It can be used in senior-level undergraduate digital signal processing, communications, and digital controls classes to introduce students basic statistical signal processing concepts such as noise and sample estimation in noise. the current version of the tool has been evaluated via student feedback in a workshop. Preliminary results are promising, and will allow us to make modifications to the simulation tool as necessary.

In general, radar emits electromagnetic waves actively. the effective distance is far. Infrared receive the heat of goal passively. the effective distance is short. If we want to get high-performance, we should make use of the advantage of the radar. the multi sensor information fusion technique can obtain higher accuracy and more explicit conclusions than the use of a single sensor. So in this thesis, we proposed a new information fusion algorithm of infrared radar. © 2016 IEEE.
