An association rule typically strives for discovering a dependency among attributes with respect to the externally defined parameters like support threshold and confidence threshold. As an important database discovery method, the kernel of association rule mining is the acquisition of large itemsets. It is an important field of data mining to represent the support and confidence of items that are purchased together in supermarket domain. In this paper, a novel limited concept lattice is first proposed for the transaction data itemsets modeling. Concept lattice is a form of a concept hierarchy in which each node represents a subset of objects (extent) with their common properties (intent). the Hasse diagram of the lattice represents a generalization/specialization relationship between the concepts. therefore, the lattice and Hasse diagram corresponding to a set of objects described by some properties can be used as an effective tool for symbolic data analysis and knowledge acquisition. Based on this lattice structure, an algorithm, LCLL, is presented to incrementally generate large itemsets visually. the algorithm works by means of attaching frequency information to each lattice node, the corresponding support measure can be obtained with the limited lattice. Besides, the edges in the Hasse diagram of the new lattice must be modified: the generator of a new node is always its child, and original parent of the generator is updated. When a node is deleted till the frequency value turns to zero, the node and the edges between its parents and children are not deleted, but tagged. the key point lies in adding edges when searching for the new node’s parents, the large itemsets can be obtained by judging whether the cardinal and frequency value of the node exceeds the threshold or not. And accordingly, association rules can be identified. the approach is especially efficient when the database is dynamically updated (insertion, deletion or simultaneous insertion and deletion

In this paper, a new neural network with genetic algorithm (GA) is described. GA can overcome the disadvantages of back propagation (BP) artificial neural network (ANN), such as slow convergence and possibility of being trapped at locally minimum value. Compared with BP-ANN, the convergence and generalization ability of GA-ANN is improved remarkably. Some typical discharges in large turbine generators are presented and discussed. Test results show that the neural network may discriminate unknown patterns successfully. Some new results are given, and practical application of neural network for pattern recognition of PD in with genetic algorithm is also discussed.

A digital integrated system is developed to record partial discharge (PD) pulses and to recognize their patterns by waveforms. Special considerations on the experiment circuit are given to electromagnetic shielding, system bandwidth and pattern variety. Both typical laboratory models and simulation models of stator windings are tested, which represent corresponding PD types in air, transformer oil, artificial cavity of stator bar insulation and along the surfaces of the end-winding. the waveforms of discharge current of distinct models are recorded and their respective features are extracted by segmented time domain data compression method. An artificial neural network is applied to recognize different patterns. Several factors concerning recognition rate are discussed. the training and testing result shows the potentiality of applying waveform analysis in partial discharge recognition.

this paper applies a pattern recognition method for localisation of the PD site in the oil-filled transformer by acoustic measurements. By dividing the transformer into N numbers of 20/spl times/20/spl times/20 mm/sup 3/ sub-modules, the PD site is localised by comparing the spatial distances of each sub-module to the acoustic sensors. the numerical cases indicate that the proposed method is general and practical while avoiding some drawbacks in current algorithms. Moreover, the method improves the accuracy of localisation substantially when compared with the conventional localization method.

In this work, two approaches were proposed for the recognition of partial discharge patterns. the first approach was neural network with back-propagation algorithm, and the second approach was angle calculation between two operator vectors. PD signals were detected using three electrode systems; IEC(b), needle-plane and CIGRE method II electrode system. Both of neural network and angle comparison method showed good recognition performance for the patterns similar to the trained patterns.

To analyze the statistical characteristics of partial discharges (PDs) in power transformers, 7 types of experimental models simulating PD in transformers and 3 types of models simulating interfering PD in air are designed and model experiments are conducted in a screened room. Using a digital measuring device with the sampling rate of 50 kHz, the quantity phase information of PD pulse current in models is obtained after the signal is processed by a peak-holding hardware. the PD features are extracted using the 3D pattern chart and then a group of three-layer back-propagation ANNs (artificial neural networks) is used to recognize the PD patterns. the investigation shows that ANN has enough ability to recognize different PD in oil-paper insulation of power transformers and PD interference from air can be recognized and eliminated.

A partial discharge (PD) signal in a transformer must propagate through the winding to its terminals before it arrives at a monitoring device, so the signal, on which the failure diagnosis is based, must undergo some distortion. In this work, the elemental impulse response of the winding is obtained by detecting the propagation of a pulse signal in the winding. By measuring the nanosecond scale rapid variation of the waveform of model discharges, the rule of the propagation of the discharge pulse signal in the winding under various conditions, including types and locations of the discharge and measuring points, is studied. Based on statistical comparison, the factors which have influence on the diagnosis of the discharge pattern are analyzed, which improves the exactness of the pattern diagnosis in practice.

A Neural Network approach using back-propagation algorithm is proposed to identify different partial discharge patterns in this paper. With the mapping characteristics embedded in NN, the typical discharge models and their corresponding characteristic parameters are interlinked by the NN. With the aid of a PC diagnosis system, the character parameters are extracted out from the figures that describe the phrase character of the discharge pulses. the result shows that the NN is capable of recognizing different discharge patterns in motors, such. As surface discharge, inter discharge, slot discharge and ending discharge. Also the delta U model is studied to present different PDs and their discharge theories, because it can give the information of the variance of continuous discharge voltage.

In order to reveal the mechanism of electrical tree growth in insulation, a 29 kV CN-CV cable sample is studied. the experiment is based on research for determination of the dependencies between PD characteristics in XLPE upon time and three dimensional PD patterns of corresponding treeing. the investigations were carried out by means of electrical measurement of PD current and simultaneous optical recording of treeing images. the needle-plane electrode is applied as part of the test system. As a result, -q-n PD patterns from to bush tree initialization and growth can be obtained. Test results show that PD pattern recognition can be applied as a useful tool for recognizing electrical tree growth and monitoring the cable condition. this can make a good basis for on-line monitoring of power cables.

A measurement of the ski-jump distance using the computer programme JumpIt is presented. the technique we use is based mainly on the recording of consecutive images in the computer memory in real- time. We propose an algorithm based on off-line recursive filtering, and fuzzy pattern comparison of the bit mask of two sets of windows: the learning one and the testing one. the result of this comparison should give us the point of landing of the ski jumper. the length is calculated from the calibrated ski jumping hill. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1999.
