this paper describes a rose analysis and recognition program and presents some principles of a fuzzy system realizing this recognition program. the major principles presented in this paper are our fuzzy description methods for rose features, which explain how to mathematically and quantitatively describe rose features by fuzzy set concept, and weight coefficient, which explains how to use different rose features rationally in the recognition scheme. In this paper, a genetic fuzzy neural network for patternrecognition is proposed by applying genetic algorithms to the Kwan-Cai fuzzy neural network. A genetic-guided self-organizing learning algorithm is capable of reducing the number of fuzzy neurons and increasing recognition rates for the fixed number of output neurons. the simulations have indicated that the genetic fuzzy neural network can effectively recognize various distorted patterns with good recognition rates.

Automatic statistical clustering techniques have been applied to implement different multiple prototype classifiers. Multiple prototyping offers an optimised solution to cases where there is significant variability in the training data. A typical application area is the recognition of handwritten characters. Once a set of features has been extracted, different statistical clustering techniques can be implemented to achieve multi-dimensional clustering in the feature space. Building of prototypes from these clusters is straight-forward, the success of the multi-prototyping depends on the efficiency of the statistical clustering techniques. In this paper, different clustering techniques have been used in conjunction withthe use of different approaches to the formation of prototypes and the relative performance enhancements are reported.

A novel morphological dynamic link architecture that employs morphological shape decomposition as feature extraction mechanism has been developed and has been tested. the first experimental results collected are very encouraging and indicate that the proposed method outperforms the (standard) dynamic link matching that is based on Gabor wavelets.
