Wireless sensor network (WSN) becomes a research hotspot of structural health monitoring(SHM) with the characteristics such as convenience for remote monitoring, good fault-tolerant ability, easiness of system maintenance, etc. In this paper, a WSN for bridge SHM is designed and deployment on the ZhengDian viaduct in Wuhan. In this deployment, 20 wireless nodes are distributed over the main span, collecting the ambient vibrations at 200Hz. the collected data agrees with theoretical models and previous studies of the bridge.

High level context recognition and situation detection are enabling technologies for unobtrusive mobile computing systems. Significant progress has been made in processing and managing context information, leading to sophisticated frameworks, middlewares, and algorithms. Despite great improvements, context aware systems still require a significantly increased recognition accuracy for high-level context information on uncertain sensor data to enable the robust execution of context-aware applications. Recently Adaptable Pervasive Work-flows (APF)s have been presented as innovative programming paradigm for mobile context-aware applications. We propose a novel Flow Context System (FlowCon) that builds upon APFs. FlowCon uses structural information from the APF to increase accuracy of uncertain high-level context information up to 49%. this way we make an important step to enable robust execution of mobile context-aware applications.

In some applications a sensor network is composed of a set of mobile nodes deployed in an area of interest in order to collectively monitor suspicious activities, perform surveillance tasks, etc. Such collaboration needs frequent inter-node interaction and requires strong network connectivity. A sudden node failure may make nodes unreachable causing the network to partition. In addition, the loss of a node may result in a degraded coverage in certain area, and can thus negatively affect the network operation. Traditional recovery approaches pursue node repositioning upon the detection of the failure in order to reestablish connectivity. Unlike these reactive recovery approaches, this paper argues that some pre-failure planning would facilitate and expedite the recovery process. the idea is to find spare nodes inside a network, prior to the failure that can volunteer to replace the failed node. Identification of spare nodes is done based upon coverage overlap and node degree. A spare node is designated based on the contribution of a node to the network coverage and connectivity. When a failure is detected, the most suitable active spare is called to replace the dead node and the network topology is adjusted through a series of cascaded motion. the proposed approach is validated through simulation.

this paper uses a variety of research methods to investigate the implementation effect of online physical education teaching in a primary school during the new crown pneumonia epidemic. the results found that the online teaching strategy is insufficient in the specific implementation process, focusing on the local decision algorithm of wireless sensor network distributed sports online detection and the data fusion algorithm of the system fusion center, and the classical Bayesian and Neyman- Pearson's theory is analyzed, aiming to build a variety of communication and docking platforms, improve the professional quality of physical education teachers, cultivate students' habit of self-exercise, realize the orderly development of the daily online teaching system of physical education classes, and provide the basis for the future development of physical education teaching during the epidemic period. In this paper, we present a middleware architecture for dependable mobile systems and an experimentation platform for its evaluation. T he proposed architecture includes three building blocks tailored for mobile cooperative applications: a Proximity Map, a Trust and Cooperation Oracle, and a Cooperative Data Backup service. To illustrate our platform, we developed a distributed Black-box application, whose aim is to record critical data while tolerating the failure of a node, and implemented a hardware evaluation platform of mobile systems for experimenting with the application. We provide here some insights on the development of the platform, focusing on wireless communication emulation via signal attenuation.

this paper describes a technique to save energy in the distributed Information_Driven maximum likelihood algorithm used for the localization of a diffusive source in Wireless sensor Networks. First, the accurate Information_driven maximum likelihood distributed estimation based on the Gauss-Newton method is derived and called Modified Information-driven Collaborative Processing (MIDCP). In this method, a neighborhood region is defined and the information of all sensor nodes in this area is used to increase the algorithm accuracy. then, a method for decreasing the energy consumption of this algorithm is proposed and called Energy Efficient MIDCP (EFMIDCP). In this algorithm, for estimation update, first, the neighboring radius is set to communication range of sensor nodes. After that, based on the covariance of estimation error in each iteration, this radius is decreased. therefore, the amount of energy consumption is abated because of less transmission. Simulation results show the low energy consumption in the second proposed algorithm while its accuracy is rather well.

On the condition of scarce spectrum resources, the cognitive radio, as the next generation of radio technology, has incomparable superiority. Cooperative spectrum sensing cognitive radio has two kinds of systems: the centralized system and the distributed system. In this paper, we propose the centralized and the distributed spectrum sensing system models based on three users. the theoretical derivation and analysis about two models are conducted. Moreover, we simulate and compare the performance of two models. Simulation results show that when the report error probability is small, the overall performance of distributed spectrum sensing is superior to a centralized spectrum sensing, but the distributed cooperative spectrum sensing in the structure is more complex.

Wireless sensor networks promise an unprecedented opportunity to monitor physical environments via inexpensive wireless embedded devices. Given the sheer amount of sensed data, efficient classification of them becomes a critical task in many sensor network applications. the large scale and the stringent energy constraints of such networks however challenge the conventional classification techniques that demand enormous storage space and centralized computation. In this paper, we propose a novel hierarchical distributed classification approach, in which local classifiers are built by individual sensors and merged along the routing path. the classifiers are iteratively enhanced by combining strategically generated pseudo data and new local data, eventually converging to a global classifier for the whole network. We demonstrate that our approach maintains high classification accuracy with very low storage and communication overhead. It also addresses a critical issue of heterogeneous data distribution among the sensors. ©2009 ieee.

Wireless sensor and actuator network (WSAN) are composed of a large number of heterogeneous sensors and actuators. In automated WSAN, sensors are collaborated to monitor the physical phenomenon in the surveillance field, while the actuators are to collect sensing data, process the data and perform appropriate actions without the existence of central controller. Most WSANs are used in the real-time sensing and reaction systems towards physical environment. In this paper, we propose a real-time architecture for automated WSAN to bind the latency in applications. In the QoS guaranteed architecture, we present distributed mechanisms for communication and coordination to maintain the delay sensitive. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the advantages of our solutions. © 2010 ieee.
