there has been a large increase in Internet of things (IoT) devices used in many parts of life. these devices, also called edge devices, have been known to be vulnerable to attackers and to be used as a medium for network attacks. A simple loT device uses one or more sensors to read data from the real world and performs a simple action based on the sensor readings, such as a motion sensor in a home turning on the lights when motion is detected. Building a dataset to model real-world network traffic, along with pseudo-realistic uses of network attacks is essential for creating an intrusion detection system (IDS). In this paper, we develop an loT network anomaly dataset using synthetic and real-world network attacks. Virtual machines with Ubuntu 22.04 were used to contain the network data in a sandboxed environment. For our edge devices, we use Le Potato by Libre Computers as an alternative to Raspberry Pi 3, which is a popular single board computer used for home automation and hobbyist projects where the Raspberry Pi acts as the computer for the smart device. Each device has Waveshare Weather sensor attached to it, which reads climate data such as temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure. the edge devices are located within the Cyber Defense and AI lab at North Carolina Agriculture and Technology State University. Real network attack tools were used to generate traffic to label the current data as attack data, along with the attack type. In the absence of the attack tools in use, the network traffic is labeled normal, or benign. the dataset is comprised of homogeneous data using environmental sensors that measure local climate data. In this study, we use XGBoost, LSTM+CNN, and Multilayer Perceptron along with various resampling methods to evaluate our synthetic dataset. In our results, we find that XGBoost produces the best performance at classifying attacks when using RandomUndersampler.

the charging of electric vehicles (EVs) via common DC bus charging infrastructure based on hybrid renewable energy sources such as solar photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell is presented here. the requisite to incorporate renewable energy based distributed energy resources (DERs) is attributed to the escalating concern for decarbonisation with improved power quality requirements. Furthermore, the bidirectional flow of power enables the charging/discharging of EVs during the grid presence/absence modes of operation. In addition, the utilization of common DC bus charging mechanism for EVs, facilitates fast charging capability at higher voltage levels. the satisfactory operation during the grid availability/unavailability is attained through the current and voltage based control mechanisms, along with the seamless transition capability via switching (STS-1/0) of the static transfer switches. Furthermore, in compliance with the ieee standards, the power quality (PQ) improvement is obtained with the utilization of an adaptive comb-filter based current control during the grid-tied mode of operation. the need for improving PQ, stems from the fact that an uninterrupted supply is essential to the critical loads along with an improved power quality. thus, for validation and corroboration of the system behavior, its performance is authenticated during weak grid conditions, in conjunction with grid connected/islanded modes of operation.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) play a critical role in a wide range of applications, making it necessary to have strong trust management systems in place to guarantee secure and dependable operations. this study presents DeEGAG-Net, a sophisticated trust model that combines DeepGraph, AlexNet, and GRU components to improve trust calculation in Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs). the model utilizes DeepGraph to analyze relational data, AlexNet to extract high-level features, and GRU to handle temporal dependencies. DeEGAG-Net utilizes methodologies such as the Dempster-Shafer theory, neural networks, and energy trust evaluation to generate accurate and reliable trust predictions. the model utilizes a hybrid approach with the LEACH protocol to enhance cluster head selection and maintain continuous updates using trust-related features and network topology. the results of our study clearly indicate that the model significantly enhances network performance and reliability. © 2024 ieee.

In this paper, we present a novel resilient distributed model predictive control (RDMPC) framework for the constrained Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) in the presence of F-local malicious attacks. the proposed framework aims to ensure constraint satisfaction and identify malicious attacks using previously broadcast information and a convex set, referred to as the "resilience set." Compared to the well-known Mean Subsequence Reduced (MSR) algorithms that require (2F + 1)robust graphs, the proposed approach significantly reduces the required robustness level to (F + 1)-robust graph. Our simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in mitigating the impact of malicious attacks on constrained CAVs while ensuring constraint satisfaction. Overall, the proposed RDMPC framework contributes to the field of resilient platoon control for CAVs and has potential implications for improving the reliability and security of CAVs in real-world scenarios.

Modern smart sensor-based energy management systems leverage non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) to predict and optimize appliance load distribution in real-time. NILM, or energy disaggregation, refers to the decomposition of electricity usage conditioned on the aggregated power signals (i.e., smart sensor on the main channel). Based on real-time appliance power prediction using sensory technology, energy disaggregation has great potential to increase electricity efficiency and reduce energy expenditure. With the introduction of transformer models, NILM has achieved significant improvements in predicting device power readings. Nevertheless, transformers are less efficient due to O(l2) complexity w.r.t. sequence length l. Moreover, transformers can fail to capture local signal patterns in sequenceto-point settings due to the lack of inductive bias in local context. In this work, we propose an efficient localness transformer for non-intrusive load monitoring (ELTransformer). Specifically, we leverage normalization functions and switch the order of matrix multiplication to approximate self-attention and reduce computational complexity. Additionally, we introduce localness modeling with sparse local attention heads and relative position encodings to enhance the model capacity in extracting short-term local patterns. To the best of our knowledge, ELTransformer is the first NILM model that addresses computational complexity and localness modeling in NILM. With extensive experiments and quantitative analyses, we demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the the proposed ELTransformer with considerable improvements compared to state-of-the-art baselines.

the fine-grained calculation method of accepting distributed generation capacity in distribution network for virtual power plant is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a distributed generation capacity model including photovoltaic power generation and wind power generation are established based on the collection of virtual power plant information. Secondly, distribution network power flow model on power grid side, and distributed power generation output model on power supply side including photovoltaic generation model and wind power generation model are established. thirdly, the fine-grained safe operation constraints including power supply side and power grid side are set. then, the optimal coordinated scheduling model of acceptability of new energy distributed generation with adjustable importance factor setting mode is proposed. Finally, output virtual power plant information through optimal coordinated scheduling, and reverse determine the actual photovoltaic and wind power installed capacity selection. the proposed model and method can provide theoretical guidance and reference for the fine modeling of distributed generation capacity accepted by the distribution network of virtual power plant, fine-grained computing application, actual installed capacity selection of distributed generation, multi-mode coordinated scheduling and so on. © 2023 ieee.

the expansion of Digital Health brings increasing data privacy and security challenges, mainly due to data collection by service providers and third parties. the decentralized approach of Self-Sovereign Identity emerges as a solution, offering users direct control over their data. this paper proposes the SmartMed system for controlling access to private medical data by attribute-based access control implemented on smart contracts. the paper investigates the performance limitations of the Ethereum and Besu blockchain platforms in controlling access to medical data. the proposal develops smart contracts to perform attribute-based access control and to store log records in the blockchain, highlighting the detailed performance analysis on both tested platforms. the results reveal the superiority of the Besu platform over Ethereum, indicating a lower computational cost per transaction. Our proposal innovates by proposing a system based on smart contracts to guarantee the authenticity of medical data, complemented by the use of Keycloak in managing access to healthcare systems. © 2024 ieee.

In this paper, we consider the problem of using a drone to collect information within orchards in order to detect bugs. An orchard can be modeled as an aisle-graph, which is a regular data structure formed by consecutive aisles where trees are arranged in a straight line. For monitoring the presence of bugs, a drone flies close to the trees and takes videos and/or pictures that will be analyzed offline. As the drone's energy is limited, only a subset of locations in the orchard can be visited with a fully charged battery. those places that are most likely to be infested should be selected to promptly detect the parasite. We study the budgeted constrained position selection problem in the orchard from an algorithmic point of view. We present the Single-drone Orienteering Aisle-graph Problem (SOAP), a variant of the well-known orienteering problem where the finite resource is the drone's battery. We first show that SOAP can be optimally solved for aisle-graphs in polynomial time. However, the optimal solution is not efficient for large orchards. then, we propose two efficient heuristics that work even for large (orchard) instances. After a thorough analysis of the proposed solutions, we evaluate their performance by simulation experiments on both synthetic and real data sets.

MEMS sensor combines the advantages of the MEMS technology and the sensor technology. the hot film MEMS sensor can be applied to detect the natural gas flow, which is an important technical means to solve the intelligent measurement of natural gas. the heat distribution type hot film MEMS sensor detects the gas flow by using the temperature difference at the symmetrical position of the upstream and the downstream of the heating resistor. If we want to use it to detect the gas flow, we should firstly study the quantitative relationship between the gas flow speed and the corresponding temperature difference. therefore, the current paper discusses the influence of the gas flow rate on the temperature field distribution in the sensor detection region, and then studies the quantitative relationship between the gas flow speed and the detected temperature difference. the results show that the temperature field distribution is relatively uniform at low speed, and the temperature difference between the upstream and the downstream is small. the higher the flow velocity, the more the contour distribution of the isotherm conforms to the rule of the flow streamline, the greater the influence of the forced convection of the gas flow on the temperature field, and the smaller the influence of other factors. In addition, there is a good one-to-one correspondence between the gas flow speed and the temperature difference at the upstream and the downstream positions of the heating resistor, and the relationship between the temperature difference and the gas flow speed conforms to the square root function. © 2024 ieee.

With the development of network society, individuals and enterprises generate massive data every day. However, the traditional relational MySQL database has poor performance in storing and processing massive data. In the case of huge amount of data, MySQL may even crash, which obviously cannot meet the needs of massive data storage. Obviously, with more and more emphasis on user-friendliness, the storage and processing application of massive data determine the future development of enterprises. this paper discusses the storage engine, high concurrency, architecture and distributed cluster of HBase, and then compares the performance differences between MySQL and HBase optimized with Bloom filter(Bloom HBase) on Linux platform. © 2021 ieee.
