Due to a wide range of essential applications, resource limitations, and intermittent irregular responses from cluster sensor nodes, different cluster sensor node faults and failures of distributed wireless sensor networks have occurred in recent years. Due to limited calculation capabilities, limited storage space, resource constraints, and a poor wireless communication environment, relatively few studies have been done on distributed fault diagnosis and fault tolerance in wireless sensor networks, making these networks vulnerable to impending security issues and abnormal detection. this chapter presents a thorough investigation into data quality, with a focus on the features of sensor node information with respect to time and space similarity, as well as recent advances in the study of outlier analysis. In this study, we employ classification to identify outliers by predicting the values of faulty sensor nodes using information gathered from their fault-free neighbors. the proposed method, DSFOD, uses the KNN algorithm to diagnose the proximity of a distance and achieves promising results of greater than 0.99. To accomplish the goal of data outlier detection in WSN, the data are analyzed and detected using the DSFOD method. the simulation’s findings demonstrate the network’s efficiency and superior performance at that specific time. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

the landscape of the communication system is undergoing a rapid evolution, emphasizing the need for intelligence, efficiency, and adaptability to enable cloud computing, Internet-of-Everything, and cyber-physical systems. With the rapidly growing complexities and interconnectivities of the systems, assurance of security and privacy is of paramount importance. the inherent nature of blockchain technology is its immutability, decentralization, anonymity, and transparency. It has the potential to establish trust between distributed networks through secure access management, robust authentication, improved integrity, confidentiality, and optimized resource allocation. Implementation of blockchain technology in 6G communication systems is likely to introduce dramatic innovations, enabling digital economy growth and enhancing societal functioning and connectivity. this article delves into the history of the evolution of mobile communications from 1G to 6G, the significance of blockchain technology in 6G, and the latest advances in terahertz antennas that can make an immense contribution to the field of 6G technology. © 2025 ieee.

Segmentation of Earth observation (EO) satellite data is critical for natural hazard analysis and disaster response. However, processing EO data at ground stations introduces delays due to data transmission bottlenecks and communication windows. Using segmentation models capable of near-real-time data analysis onboard satellites can therefore improve response times. this study presents a proof-of-concept using MobileSAM, a lightweight, pre-trained segmentation model, onboard Unibap iX10-100 satellite hardware. We demonstrate the segmentation of water bodies from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery and integrate MobileSAM with PASEOS, an open-source Python module that simulates satellite operations. this integration allows us to evaluate MobileSAM's performance under simulated conditions of a satellite constellation. Our research investigates the potential of fine-tuning MobileSAM in a decentralised way onboard multiple satellites in rapid response to a disaster. Our findings show that MobileSAM can be rapidly fine-tuned and benefits from decentralised learning, considering the constraints imposed by the simulated orbital environment. We observe improvements in segmentation performance with minimal training data and fast fine-tuning when satellites frequently communicate model updates. this study contributes to the field of onboard AI by emphasising the benefits of decentralized learning and fine-tuning pre-trained models for rapid response scenarios. Our work builds on recent related research at a critical time;as extreme weather events increase in frequency and magnitude, rapid response with onboard data analysis is essential. © 2025 ieee.

the United Nations' (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 6th goal is of special interest here: "Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all". To manage consumption water, it's surely fundamental to be able to measure, diagnose and control the whole path from it's origin in natural reservoirs till the end customers, requiring a net of sensors along the Water Distribution System (WDS). Such a network of sensors, will generate data over time constituting a dataset on which computer intelligence algorithms can work to detect abnormal behaviour, especially leakages. Unfortunately in Brazil the initiatives in monitoring WDS through sensors are very incipient. Since we don't have a real dataset with sensor information over time yet, in this work we aim to provide a solution to this part of the problem through simulation. In 2018, LeakDB [1] was presented as a "benchmark dataset for leakage diagnosis in water distribution systems", in fact a very important and interesting work. However it has some drawbacks, especially inconsistent data, which prevents its use as a solid basis. In this paper we improve LeakDB implementing LeakG3PD, opening the path to analyze the viability of different solutions in water management, with special focus on leakages.

Cloud computing stands at the forefront of contemporary advancements in distributed computing, providing a range of data storage, including on-demand services, platform services, and network capabilities. Despite the compelling advantages, many enterprises exhibit hesitancy in embracing cloud services, primarily stemming from apprehensions about data security, given that the data are housed on servers belonging to the cloud service provider. Addressing this concern has prompted researchers worldwide to explore various avenues for fortifying and ensuring the security of data stored in cloud computing. Among these approaches, the bi-directional DNA encryption algorithm is gaining prominence as a notable contender. However, a notable limitation of the current methodology lies in its exclusive focus on the American Standard Code for Information Interchange character set, neglecting the broader scope of non-English users engaging with cloud computing. this paper presents a reinforcement learning-based approach to optimize bidirectional charging strategies for electric vehicles. the proposed algorithm effectively manages the charging and discharging processes, considering dynamic energy prices and varying driving patterns while ensuring minimal disruption to the user experience. the algorithm is evaluated through simulation using the SUMO framework, demonstrating its ability to reduce charging costs and enhance the overall efficiency of bidirectional charging. Key findings include the algorithm's effectiveness in adapting to diverse driving scenarios and its potential to contribute to a more sustainable and efficient energy grid. the algorithm is connected to the SUMO framework with simple interfaces to easily replace either simulation or the reinforcement learning algorithm in further research. © 2025 ieee.
