the frequency of software supply chain attacks has reached unprecedented levels, primarily due to the increasing reliance on huge numbers of software and hardware dependencies, and the inherent vulnerabilities they harbor. Currently, vendors providing these software and hardware components share security advisories to centralized databases or post them on proprietary websites, which security engineers have to search manually to find vulnerabilities relevant for their systems. Furthermore, the security advisories often do not follow a standard machine-readable format, which results in the engineers having to manually analyze the documents. In this paper, SENTINEL, a novel solution for automating dissemination and discovery of security advisories leveraging Web3 technologies, is presented. In particular, the Ethereum blockchain is used by vendors to notify asset owners of novel vulnerabilities in their systems in a reliable and accountable manner. Evaluation tests conducted on the Ethereum Sepolia Testnet confirm that our proposal is a functional and functioning solution for securely disseminating and discovering security advisories utilizing a fully decentralized infrastructure. SENTINEL's source code is released as open source software on Github.

the growing number of Internet of things (IoT) devices generates massive amounts of diverse data, including personal or confidential information (i.e., sensory, images, etc.) that is not intended for public view. Traditionally, predefined privacy policies are usually enforced in resource-rich environments such as the cloud to protect sensitive information from being released. However, the massive amount of data streams, heterogeneous devices, and networks involved affects latency, and the possibility of having data intercepted grows as it travels away from the data source. therefore, such data streams must be transformed on the IoT device or within available devices (i.e., edge devices) in its vicinity to ensure privacy. In this paper, we present a privacy-enforcing framework that transforms data streams on edge networks. We treat privacy close to the data source, using powerful edge devices to perform various operations to ensure privacy. Whenever an IoT device captures personal or confidential data, an edge gateway in the device's vicinity analyzes and transforms data streams according to a predefined set of rules. How and when data is modified is defined precisely by a set of triggers and transformations - a privacy model - that directly represents a stakeholder's privacy policies. Our work answered how to represent such privacy policies in a model and enforce transformations on the edge.

Human activity recognition using inertial sensors has gained significant popularity and widespread adoption in various fields, while deep learning has emerged as the dominant approach, playing a pivotal role in enhancing performance. Nevertheless, existing algorithms often neglect the heterogeneity of sensors and fail to effectively extract contextual features from long-term time series data, resulting in low accuracy in activity recognition, especially for complex activities. this paper proposes a novel method called FUsion Transformer hUman activity REcognition(FUTURE). FUTURE exploits the feature fusion mechanism and designs a multi-scaled DenseNet to extract the spatial features so that the relationship between heterogeneous sensors can be captured. Furthermore, a customized multi-head attention model with less computational complexity is employed in FUTURE to capture global dependencies within the sensor data. Experimental results on multiple datasets validate that FUTURE achieves an average recognition accuracy of 95% for complex activities and the evaluation against the state-of-the-art demonstrates the superior performance of the FUTURE model in accurately classifying complex activities. © 2023 ieee.

Internet of things (IoT) is rapidly expanding, and a wide range of technologies are being developed for IoT solutions. the majority of studies on these solutions focus on a specific communication standard, which contradicts the IoT system's overall architecture. this paper presents the methodology of a fully functioning LoRaWAN based IoT system that is connected to various cloud platforms and how each platform process the data collected. Finally, when the data value increases in a catastrophic situation, a user notification will be delivered. Presently, the described IoT structure serves the European region and its surrounding area. the system has been demonstrated as a service that is capable of serving a wide range of IoT-based applications across many cloud platforms. © 2022 ieee.

Mobility management is crucial for urban planning, and accurate road condition information is necessary for safe and efficient transportation. In the context of this study, mobility refers to the quality of the road and the level of service provided to road users. To this end and to advance the state-of-the-art in improving mobility management strategies, we propose a new capability for our ongoing work on the Decentralized Road Traffic Monitoring (DRTM) system: road conditions assessment, aimed at enhancing mobility management for Abu Dhabi city. Our DRTM system uses smartphone cameras, Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) mode, and federated learning to extract and classify road features, such as potholes, cracks, and accidents, impacting overall mobility. the system comprises a smartphone app and a decentralized network of participants, providing real-time insights about road conditions. Our experimental results demonstrate the system's effectiveness in providing precise and up-to-date information about road conditions, with increased scalability and efficiency compared to centralized methods. By utilizing federated learning, the system ensures data security and privacy.

Gait information is critical in various domains. However, achieving accurate time synchronization across multiple sensor nodes in wireless systems remains a challenge, particularly in gait information acquisition, where precise data alignment is essential. Current solutions are limited by high power consumption, system complexity, and transmission instability. this study proposes a multi-node gait information acquisition system incorporating a six-axis inertial sensor and a plantar pressure sensor, with the ESP32 serving as the core processing unit. the system utilizes the low-power Bluetooth protocol for real-time data transmission. To address the issue of time desynchronization, we introduce an average error-based time synchronization algorithm. the algorithm was tested in an experimental setup using a signal generator, two gait systems, and a mobile device. the results demonstrate that the average error method effectively estimates and corrects frequency drift, significantly reducing time synchronization errors. the system offers a low-power, high-precision solution for multi-node gait information acquisition, advancing the accuracy of gait data fusion and analysis. © 2024 ieee.

Equivalent circuit models for fuel cell stacks as well as for the series connection of battery cells are characterized by multiple series-connected RC sub-networks. In practical applications, for example, when aiming at the aging detection and monitoring of the individual cells in a fuel cell stack, it is desired to estimate the individual state variables of each of these series-connected cells. the same holds true for battery management systems that are dedicated to the state of charge (resp., voltage) equalization in a series connection of multiple battery cells. However, the pure knowledge of the current through this series connection as well as the sum over all terminal voltages is insufficient to make the overall system model fully observable. To efficiently observe the state variables in each of the series-connected subsystems, we aim at avoiding the measurement of the voltages of each individual fuel (resp., battery) cell. Instead, this paper presents a systematic sensor switching strategy which allows for estimating the individual state variables of all series-connected subsystems in an Unscented Kalman Filter framework. Simulation results are presented to compare the achievable estimation accuracy with a scenario in which all cell (resp., terminal) voltages were measured simultaneously. © 2023 ieee.

the charging of electric vehicles (EVs) via common DC bus charging infrastructure based on hybrid renewable energy sources such as solar photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell is presented here. the requisite to incorporate renewable energy based distributed energy resources (DERs) is attributed to the escalating concern for decarbonisation with improved power quality requirements. Furthermore, the bidirectional flow of power enables the charging/discharging of EVs during the grid presence/absence modes of operation. In addition, the utilization of common DC bus charging mechanism for EVs, facilitates fast charging capability at higher voltage levels. the satisfactory operation during the grid availability/unavailability is attained through the current and voltage based control mechanisms, along with the seamless transition capability via switching (STS-1/0) of the static transfer switches. Furthermore, in compliance with the ieee standards, the power quality (PQ) improvement is obtained with the utilization of an adaptive comb-filter based current control during the grid-tied mode of operation. the need for improving PQ, stems from the fact that an uninterrupted supply is essential to the critical loads along with an improved power quality. thus, for validation and corroboration of the system behavior, its performance is authenticated during weak grid conditions, in conjunction with grid connected/islanded modes of operation.

Naive Bayes classification categorization in machine learning is employed to check the patient's entire heart illness in this proposed work. As a result, the percentage of patients that contract disease as both positive and negative data is used. Most database management systems and desktop analytics and visualization applications make working with big data difficult. As a result of this machine learning can be employed from the standpoint of data mining, and the proposal displays a machine learning methodology. the classifiers are used to process heart percentages, and the results are given as a confusion matrix. In the presence of a training dataset, a unique classification strategy is introduced that can effectively increase classification performance. Heart disease stent diagnostic In addition, the generated method has a high identification of rates, making It's a useful tool for junior cardiologists to check the cardio vascular patients with a high risk for certain diseases and refer them to expert cardiologists for further evaluation. © 2022 ieee.

the electrical infrastructure are experiencing over burdening due to exponential growth in the power demand. In recent years, centralized power generating units losing interest due to more TD loss, limitation in the expansion of generating capacity, poor ATC, environmental concerns etc. the efficient use of RES and their proper integration to the existing infrastructure plays key position in the entire augmentation of the network performance. Dispersed/distributed generation is part of the load is supplied by generating power at load premises to reduce the burden on the network by relieving the over loading on the electrical infrastructure. In this paper, the different types of DG, uses and benefits of DGs, Indian scenario, DG technologies and different optimization techniques exercised for DG placement and their limitations are discussed. © 2022 ieee.
