Fog computing is an emerging distributed computing model for the realization of the Internet of things (IoT). It extends computing and caching functions to the edge of wireless networks. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) provide effective support for fog computing, as UAVs can not only act as a relay between mobile users and physically remote edge devices to avoid costly long-range wireless communications, but also are equipped with computing facilities that can take over certain tasks. In this paper, we aim to optimize the energy efficiency of a fog computing system assisted by a single UAV, by planning the trajectories of the UAV and assigning computing tasks to different devices including the UAV itself. We propose two algorithms based on the classical Ant Colony and Particle Swarm Optimization techniques, and solve the problem by continuous convex approximation. Different from most existing studies where the trajectories are assumed to be straight lines, we account for the effect of obstacles, such as buildings, and deliberately avoid them during the trajectory planning phase. We demonstrate, through extensive simulation experiments, that our proposed approach can achieve significantly better energy efficiency compared to existing benchmark algorithms. © 2022 ieee.

the new 6th generation (6G) standard promises increased data transmission rates and opens up entirely new application fields, such as joint-communication and sensing (JCAS). Modern high-performance multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with high bandwidth and channel count allow evaluation and testing of waveforms and algorithms in real-world scenarios. However, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) MIMO systems are often costly and cannot be scaled to massive MIMO (mMIMO) systems without huge overhead. the ReLoDAQ system, based on combined radio frequency system-on-chip (RFSoC)-server architecture, offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for the development of a modern mMIMO system. However, this system is only scalable in terms of channel count and does not provide scalable synchronization and trigger mechanisms, which are essential for applications like JCAS or radar. In this paper, we present a scalable sample- and data-level synchronization and trigger mechanism to operate a mMIMO system based on the ReLoDAQ structure in a phase coherent manner. To achieve this, we extend the firmware of the RFSoCs with additional trigger and synchronization logic. Furthermore, we developed a scalable clock distribution network to distribute phase coherent clocks in the mMIMO system. through measurements on an experimental mMIMO system consisting of two RFSoCs and four servers, we demonstrate that our approach enables phase coherent operation across all channels in the mMIMO system based on the cost-efficient and scalable ReLoDAQ architecture. © 2024 ieee.

Due to the different distribution levels of power supply structure, load composition and new energy resources in different area power grids, there is a non-negligible mutual aid potential between cross-area interconnected power grids, which requires that the power flow on the cross-area power grid connection line can be controlled. the flexibility and power flow regulation characteristics of distributed Power Flow Controller make it have great advantages in realizing flexible interconnection of cross-area power grids. this paper briefly introduces the device structure and mutual aid principle of DPFC, analyzes the potential of flexible mutual aid between area power grids, and studies the impact of flexible interconnection on the operation economy and reliability of interconnected systems. Based on these two indicators, an evaluation method of flexible mutual aid capacity between area power grids is proposed. Utilizing PSCAD/EMTDC software, we've developed a simulated model for a 110 kV standard system, incorporating three units of DPFC sub-modules. the outcomes of the simulation indicate that our novel assessment technique effectively harmonizes economic efficiency with operational reliability. © 2024 ieee.

Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) are a crucial component in the fabric of the Internet of things (IoT) ecosystem, enabling a myriad of applications ranging from environmental monitoring to precision agriculture and smart cities. However, these sensors are constrained in terms of energy, computing power, and storage which makes reliable communication a critical research challenge. To address these challenges, unequal clustering has emerged as a promising solution where clusters are intentionally formed with varying sizes to accommodate heterogeneous capabilities and energy demands across the network. In this paper, we introduce a novel Multi-Objective and Randomly distributed Fuzzy Logic-based Unequal Clustering (MORF-UC) scheme to address the challenge of energy management and hotspot issues in WSNs. By leveraging fuzzy logic to account for variables such as distance to the base station (BS), residual energy, node concentration, and data forwarding ratio of nodes, this scheme aims to extend network lifetime, energy use, and data transmission reliability while mitigating the hot spot issues. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed methodology outperforms existing methods such as TTDFP and MOUOC in the energy conservation, network lifetime extension, and throughput enhancement, thereby offering a significant advancement in the field of WSN optimization.

An optimally designed GPS receiver can typically achieve 3-5 meters accuracy. this accuracy is insufficient for autonomous navigation where the margin of error must be low. Some existing sensor fusion approaches (IMU and GPS fusion using EKF) can achieve 2-3 meters (average error of 2.66 meters) accuracy, but the existing systems cannot function if the GPS receiver is not functional. Other modern techniques like Differential GPS are expensive to implement. Hence an accurate, cost-effective, and available alternative is required. As an alternative to Conventional GPS which typically has an accuracy of 3-5m which is not sufficient for autonomous navigation, a system that consists of data from LiDAR, IMU, and GPS has been implemented using sensor fusion with the help of error state extended Kalman filter. the implemented system was put to test using data synthesized from Carla Simulator. the proposed system was shown to have improved accuracy by reducing the position error by nearly 95%. © 2022 ieee.

With the depletion of global resources, the regulation and control of power system has attached more and more importance. Besides, the demand for operating reserve to maintain the power system balance is increasing. With traditional generating units phasing out, it is concerned that they may become inadequate to meet the reserve requirement in the near future. thus, the demand-side management is becoming increasingly important. Inverter air conditioners (IACs) account for a larger proportion in the power consumption. Nevertheless, the control and optimization of distributed IACs is complicated. To address the above-mentioned issues, this manuscript proposes a distributed control strategy for the regulation of IACs. Based on the consensus theory, the states convergence and the power regulation of IACs is realized within the settling time. By utilizing Lyapunov stability theorem and consensus theory, the convergence of control strategy is verified. Finally, the simulation results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness. © 2023 ieee.

Recently, user privacy in distributed computing has received increasing attention. Matrix multiplication is one of the fundamental high-frequency operations in distributed machine learning (e.g., gradient descent, linear regression). this paper studies the batch Fully Private distributed Matrix Multiplication (FPMM) problem. In batch FPMM, the user aims to compute multiple desired matrix multiplications from two public libraries which are stored across all workers. Batch FPMM requires that colluding workers cannot obtain the indexes of all desired ma-trices in the two public libraries (i.e., privacy constraint). In this paper, we first propose the Bath fullY privatE schemE (BYEE) to encode multiple desired matrix multiplications together based on the construction of bilinear complexity. We then perform a solid theoretical analysis to prove the privacy and decodability of BYEE. Multi-aspect analysis and extensive simulation results illustrate that BYEE can significantly reduce the computation latency than state-of-the-art schemes that do not jointly encode multiple desired matrix multiplications, especially when the number of desired matrix multiplications and the number of colluding workers are large. © 2022 ieee.

Intent-driven orchestration enables organizations to achieve greater automation, integration, and intelligence of their compute and network resources by defining their objectives and policies in a more abstract and holistic way, while letting the orchestration system handle the coordination, optimization, and adaptation of the resources in response to changing needs and conditions. the trend for the development of intent-driven orchestration mechanisms has been growing in recent years as the deployment of distributed applications in the computing continuum has become more complex and diverse. In this manuscript we detail a novel approach for the management of distributed applications in the computing continuum. A hierarchical decision making scheme is proposed where an entity in a specific level of the hierarchy has the responsibility for the management of the overall application or a part of it, without having the control of all the management actions. the control is distributed across various entities that have to collaborate towards some joint objectives. Both compute and network resources management is considered that may be provided by the same or different infrastructure providers. © 2023 ieee.

sensor networks are a wonderful tool for many applications, but saving energy in such networks is an important issue. Data aggregation between the sensor nodes can be overwhelming unless information flooding is in place. the sensor nodes clustering may provide a solution to this problem. To solve this problem, there must be the optimal distribution of sensors and CHs so that the network life span is improved while energy consumption is minimized. To progress the network performance of the WSNs, this paper discusses a hybrid clustering technique that relies on K-Means clustering and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). the evaluation of the proposed KPSO algorithm with traditional clustering techniques, such as Mod-LEACH and K-means clustering, has been done. © 2022 ieee.
