this review article introduces the concepts, server architecture and application scenarios of Mobile Edge computing (MEC) and Wireless sensor Network (WSN). By differentiating between rechargeable and non-rechargeable systems, it presents the research status of task offloading in WSN in an edge computing environment. Various strategies are analyzed and compared in terms of their characteristics and application domains. the existing methods can reduce offloading latency and energy consumption, but still face some issues. Based on this, the research hotspots of edge computing task offloading for WSN are summarized, and its research and development trends are pointed out.

An electrical power grid consists of diverse types of gas-insulated equipment (GIE) that experiences different environmental stress depending on geographical locations and climate conditions. Over the operational lifetime, gradual aging of GIE can lead to partial discharges, decomposition of electrical insulating gas media, and gas leaks. Prognostics and elimination of leaks of electrical insulating gas media is an important unmet need in making the grid safer. Here, we demonstrate an approach for unattended monitoring and localization of leaks of electrical insulating gases and their decomposition products from GIE assets using spatially distributed sensor node systems. these sensors are based on multivariable design principles and utilize a multiband dielectric excitation scheme. In initial laboratory tests, the Limits of Detection (LODs) at part-per-billion levels of gas concentrations were achieved in detection of model decomposition products of g3. Further, different leak volatiles were differentiated indoors and outdoors under dynamic test conditions. Localization of leaks of different volatiles was also achieved on a model outdoor industrial asset. the detector sensitivity and low noise levels allowed detection of model leaks as far as 52 meters in indoor settings and 43 meters outdoors under ambient wind conditions. We are working toward field validation of developed sensor systems to deliver reliable alarms 1 - 6 months earlier than conventional alarms, thus providing solutions for more cost-effective monitoring and management of GIE assets of utilities. © 2024 ieee.

In this paper, a vehicle dynamic model and the corresponding hierarchical control structure are proposed for the handing stability control of a distributed drive electric vehicle. the upper layer of the proposed control scheme adopts a sliding mode controller for the motion tracking. then, an optimal controller is used for the torque distribution in the middle layer. Besides, the stability control of single-wheel and muti-wheel failure is discussed. Considering the difference between the distributed in-wheel motor will directly affect the control effect of vehicle dynamics, an adaptive control method is proposed to compensate motor characteristics in the lower layer. Finally, the simulation results are executed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme under various working conditions. © 2022 ieee.

this work focuses on finding the extrinsic parameters (rotation and translation) between Lidar and an RGB camera sensor. We use a planar checkerboard and place it inside the Field-of-View (FOV) of both sensors, where we extract the 3D plane information of the checkerboard acquired from the sensor's data. the plane coefficients extracted from the sensor's data are used to construct a well-structured set of 3D points. these 3D points are then 'aligned,' which gives the relative transformation between the two sensors. We use our proposed Correntropy Similarity Matrix Iterative Closest Point (CoSM-ICP) Algorithm to estimate the relative transformation. this work uses a single frame of the point cloud data acquired from the Lidar sensor and a single frame from the calibrated camera data to perform this operation. From the camera image, we use the projection of the calibration target's corner points to compute the 3D points, and along the process, we calculate the 3D plane equation using the corner points. We evaluate our approach on a simulated dataset with complex environment settings, making use of the freedom to assess under multiple configurations. through the obtained results, we verify our method under various configurations.

this paper develops efficient algorithms for balancing simulation accuracy and speed in time-domain simulation of high-frequency power electronic converters. Time-domain simulation requires careful selection of step size and solvers for numerical accuracy and stability. To achieve an optimal balance between simulation accuracy and speed, a Discrete Network Model is proposed by splitting the system into multiple sub-networks and building equivalent models for individual components with decoupling between stages. this significantly improves simulation efficiency while accurately capturing switching rip-ples. A case study in MATLAB/Simulink verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method for simulating a three-phase grid-connected photovoltaic system by comparing it to conventional methods. © 2023 ieee.

We propose SmartON, a batteryless system that learns to wake up proactively at the right moment in order to detect events of interest. It does so by adapting the duty cycle to match the distribution of event arrival times under the constraints of harvested energy. While existing energy harvesting systems either wake up periodically at a fixed rate to sense and process the data, or wake up only in accordance with the availability of the energy source, SmartON employs a three-phase learning framework to learn the energy harvesting pattern as well as the pattern of events at run-time, and uses that knowledge to wake itself up when events are most likely to occur. the three-phase learning framework enables rapid adaptation to environmental changes in both short and long terms. Being able to remain asleep more often than a CTID (charging-then-immediate-discharging) wake-up system and adapt to the event pattern, SmartON is able to reduce energy waste, increase energy efficiency, and capture more events. To realize SmartON we have developed a dedicated hardware platform whose power management module activates capacitors on-the-fly to dynamically increase its storage capacitance. We conduct both simulation-driven and real-system experiments to demonstrate that SmartON captures 1X-7X more events and is 8X-17X more energy-efficient than a CTID system. All source code and hardware design files are open-sourced(1).

this project plans to develop a distributed fiber optic vibration sensor and digital twin technology based on the external rupture detection technology of optical cable. In this method, a high voltage pulse is applied to the cable to cause partial discharge in the defective part of the cable and then generate the vibration signal of the cable. In this way, the real-time monitoring and early warning of external fracture damage in the common trench structure can be realized. the distributed fiber optic vibration sensor is used to detect the current along the cable direction to locate the damaged location. the proposed method is used to detect the fault condition on the line. the test proves that the device can monitor the fault situation of multiple optical cable lines in real time, and determine the fault point.

In recent decades, distributed formation control for multiple agent systems (MAS) is becoming an increasingly attractive topic in many fields. this paper introduces the collision-free formation tracking control problem for MAS based on the formation graph. A formation control protocol for MAS composed of multiple quadrotors is designed to form the desired formation aiming to track and encircle a dynamic target. this target is considered a dynamic leader and the control input commands of the leader are unknown to the followers. In addition, the possibility of collision between quadrotors is very easy in forming the formation. Hence, a collision avoidance mechanism is also designed so that the distance of quadrotors in formation tracking is greater than the safety threshold. By using the Lyapunov theory-based stability analysis, it is proved that multiple quadrotors can track the dynamic target in a desired formation using the proposed method. Finally, several digital simulations are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed protocol. © 2023 ieee

Load balancing is a crucial element of any distributed system because it serves to spread workloads equally throughout numerous computing resources aiming to optimize speed and efficiency. However, traditional load-balancing techniques often consume a significant amount of energy, which can lead to increased operating costs and negative environmental impacts. We propose a dynamic round-robin approach for cloud load balancing in this paper to alleviate the strain on wireless networks. Our algorithm achieves 8% more efficiency compared to the traditional round-robin model. Additionally, our load-balancing virtual machine architecture exhibits an improvement in resource usage efficiency ranging from 15 to 42% compared to the current model. Overall, our model significantly increases the efficiency of the current load-balancing method. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the 6G (the sixth generation mobile communication) network is a heterogeneous network, which includes the cloud computing and the fog computing environment. And, the data securities in the 6G systems may face great challenges. On the one hand, fine-grained data access control in fog and cloud computing environments is essential to the 6G network. On the other hand, quantum computing attacks may cause great security threats for the 6G network. In order to solve the above problems, we propose a lattice-based fine-grained data access control and sharing scheme in fog and cloud computing environments (LB-DACSS) for the 6G network. Firstly, our LB-DACSS scheme can achieve secure data sharing and fine-grained access control in fog and cloud computing environments. Secondly, we apply a lattice encryption algorithm to ensure our LB-DACSS scheme can withstand quantum computing attacks. thirdly, our LB-DACSS scheme can achieve secure attribute revocation. Fourthly, we bind a unique secret value related to the user's attribute to construct the user's secret key. Finally, both formal security analysis and performance analysis show that our LB-DACSS scheme is efficient and secure.
