this work proposes a novel and highly-sensitive optical device to sense the presence of different pathogenic bacteria in drinking water. the initial sensing structure consists of a decladded multimode fiber with a higher order Bessel-Gauss beam shining on it. It relies on the notion of intermodal interference, where the transmitted output power varies with changeable cladding refractive index because of different pathogenic bacteria as present in the water sample. For the designing of bacteria sensor, such coalescence of higher order Bessel-Gauss beam along with a decladded multimode fiber has never been mentioned in any of the existing literatures. the device's sensing behavior was substantiated using a finite difference Eigenmode analysis in Mode solution software (commercially available from Lumerical Inc., Canada). By selecting the sensing length as 7 cm, the obtained spectral sensitivity of 1179 dB/RII is 3.78 times superior to the typical Gaussian sensor. therefore such an emerging beam known as higher-order beam Bessel-Gauss offers new prospects in the biosensing field. © 2021 ieee.

Wireless capsule endoscopy is a painless tool for screening the entire gastrointestinal tract, and magnetic localization is a promising technology for tracking the capsule in the human intestine. In this paper, we propose a novel design approach of the optimal mobile sensor array for tracking the slowly moving capsule. A grid and combinatorial mathematics based method is presented to enumerate all feasible 3D layouts of the four-layer sensor array. the optimal layout with a valid localization range is selected from all layouts by localization accuracy evaluation. the valid localization range of the optimal layout is "confidence-box". Many simulation experiments on different trajectories with different noise levels show the feasibility of our proposed design approach and demonstrate the robustness and accuracy performance of the mobile sensor array based large-scale tracking. the moving capsule can be tracked with the accuracy of 1.9mm and 1.19 degrees in position and orientation, respectively, and the valid localization depth reaches -12.88cm.

Aiming at the problem of information freshness in the process of massive data processing in wireless sensor networks, this paper proposes the system AoI (Age of Information, AoI) based on the constraints of drone flight speed, altitude, collision avoidance, and reliable transmission. A non-convex optimization strategy for AoI minimization that combines acquisition point selection, trajectory optimization and power control. Taking a scene of multiple drones communicating with multiple sensor nodes at the same time under the same frequency band as the object, the information acquisition process of multiple drones in three-dimensional space is simulated and verified. through the SCA (Successive Convex Approximation, SCA) optimization algorithm, the established non-convex problem is transformed into a convex optimization problem to be solved, and the optimal hover position, hover time and transmission power during the flight of the UAV are obtained. the experimental results show, the optimal solution obtained by the scheme can effectively minimize the system AoI. © 2021 ieee.

Agriculture is the process of growing plants and animals. Grains, vegetables, fruits, and other agricultural goods are divided into different categories. Farmers can increase yield while using the less number of resources, such as water and fertilizer by using smart farming, this is also known as precision farming. Farmers can use sensor nodes in the field to understand their crops on a microscopic size, which saves resources and decreases environmental impact. Stem borers, bollworms, thrips, and other pests destroy crops. For instance, Stem borer is an attack that causes plant leaves to wilt, the base of the plant to exhibit holes, and the color of the plant to shift from green to orange-yellow. If the stem borer spreads to other crops, the plant's growth tips, or the youngest leaves, will be killed. these types of issues are identified in this paper employing sensor nodes. Using the WSN, the affected area of the crop is first determined. the remaining parts of the field will be protected from attacks by detecting the malicious part. Second, the discovered afflicted sections of the crop are analyzed by using the Machine Learning (ML) algorithm in order to prove that the crop has been attacked by some disease. Finally, both the outcomes are examined to determine the disease spread. this research provides On-Off attack mitigation for wireless sensor networks' trust systems, which assists in the prevention of various crop diseases and attacks. As a result, a variety of sensing technologies are developed. the Machine Learning (ML) algorithm used here is Random Forest (RF). the WSN On-Off attack plays a significant role as it investigates the challenges in Trust Management (TM) procedures. © 2022 ieee.

Electric power distribution systems are often configured to operate radially and without islands. Radiance is important for the sake of improving system protection. Also, for legal reasons, distribution systems should not operate with islands. In this work, we present a procedure for generating radial configurations. In addition, the methodology proposed in this paper is able, through switches, to detect and remove configurations with islands. Tests were carried out in several systems and, after analysis, we can verify the efficiency and robustness of the proposed methodology even for large systems. © 2021 University of Split, FESB.

Gaussian distributed random signal has broad prospects in various applications. Random signal generators make it easy to generate Gaussian distributed random signals, greatly promoting the widespread application of Gaussian distributed random signals. Research has shown that chaotic signals not only possess randomness but also other characteristics that random signals do not have. In some application scenarios, chaotic signals are superior to random signals. However, chaotic signals are typically not in accordance with Gaussian distribution due to the invariant distribution of chaotic systems. therefore, this paper proposes a strategy for implementing Gaussian-type chaotic signals based on the Lorenz system to address the acquisition problem of Gaussian distributed chaotic signals. Firstly, the Lorenz chaotic system is selected as the intrinsic signal source, and a non-parametric estimation algorithm is used to solve its probability density function and probability distribution function. then, a transformation algorithm is proposed to transform the intrinsic signal into Gaussian distributed chaotic signals. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by implementing Gaussian distributed chaotic signals with different parameters.

this paper presents a comprehensive review of emerging technologies in V2X communication and Vehicular Edge computing (VEC) for sustainable Internet of Vehicles (IoV) in the 6G era. the paper employs the PRISMA method to systematically identify, screen, select, synthesize, and report relevant literature. the objective is to identify and discuss key technologies, assess challenges and opportunities, analyze potential impacts on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, and provide recommendations for future research directions. Challenges analysed include both technical and non-technical challenges and oppportunities include both societal benefits as well as industry opportunities. Finally and based on these findings, future research directions are proposed for striving towards sustainable IoV.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) has been extensively used in many real time wireless sensor networks applications. Due to limitations of hardware resources and restricted communication capabilities of sensor nodes, it is very challenging to use wireless sensor networks in real time data transmission. Data collection and routing is the main issue in such applications. To enhance the performance under such real time transmission scenario, it is essential to make the protocol intelligent to choose the appropriate path with change in network scenario. Now a days, many machine learning and deep learning algorithms are used for improving the real time data transmissions in WSNs. From the survey on existing methods, it is clear that using machine learning makes the computational methods more reliable, powerful and economical. this paper proposes a machine learning based Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol to handle real time traffic in wireless sensor networks. To deal with the limitations of WSN in real time application, the proposed scheme can help to increase the performance of time-critical wireless sensor network applications. Simulation results authorize our work and confirm the accuracy of the proposed ML-MAC protocol strategy is higher than the existing work. © 2021 ieee.

this paper addresses the growing interest in deploying deep learning models directly in-sensor. We present "Q-Segment", a quantized real-time segmentation algorithm, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation on a low-power edge vision platform with an in-sensors processor, the Sony IMX500. One of the main goals of the model is to achieve end-to-end image segmentation for vessel-based medical diagnosis. Deployed on the IMX500 platform, Q-Segment achieves ultra-low inference time in-sensor only 0.23 ms and power consumption of only 72mW. We compare the proposed network with state-of-the-art models, both float and quantized, demonstrating that the proposed solution outperforms existing networks on various platforms in computing efficiency, e.g., by a factor of 75x compared to ERFNet. the network employs an encoder-decoder structure with skip connections, and results in a binary accuracy of 97.25 % and an Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (AUC) of 96.97 % on the CHASE dataset. We also present a comparison of the IMX500 processing core with the Sony Spresense, a low-power multi-core ARM Cortex-M microcontroller, and a single-core ARM Cortex-M4 showing that it can achieve in-sensor processing with end-to-end low latency (17 ms) and power consumption (254mW). this research contributes valuable insights into edge-based image segmentation, laying the foundation for efficient algorithms tailored to low-power environments.
