Withthe rapidly progress of internet technology, large scale integrated circuit and computer technology, digital imageprocessing technology has been greatly developed. Vector quantization technique plays a very important role in digital image compression. It has the advantages other than scalar quantization, which possesses the characteristics of higher compression ratio, simple algorithm of image decoding. Vector quantization, therefore, has been widely used in many practical fields. this paper will combine the wavelet analysis method and vector quantization E-n encoder efficiently, make a testing in standard image. the experiment result in PSNR will have a great improvement compared withthe LBG algorithm.

this paper presents a human-computer interaction system and realizes a real-time virtual mouse. Our system emulates the dragging and selecting functions of a mouse by recognizing bare hands, hence the control style is simple and intuitive. A single camera is used to capture hand images and a DSP chip is embedded as the imageprocessing platform. To deal with complex backgrounds, particularly where skin-like or moving objects appear, we develop novel hand recognition algorithms Hand segmentation is achieved by skin color cue and background difference. Each input image is corrected according to the luminance and then skin color is extracted by Gaussian model. We employ a Camshift tracking algorithm which receives feedbacks from the recognition module. In fingertip recognition, a method combining template matching and circle drawing is proposed. Our system has advantages of good real-time performance, easy integration and energy conservation. Experiments show that the system is robust to the scaling and rotation of hands

Neuroengineering related interventions to small animals always carry the high risk of missled procedures, frequently causing premature death of the animal. In this paper the manufacturing process to build a physical rat skull and brain model for educational use is presented. Out of MRI images a rat brain was segmented to build a negative mould. this form was used to cast an agarose rat brain. For an accompanying rat neurocranium model, CT images were rendered to a surface mesh and printed in 3D out of PLA. the presented workflow results in a high detailed rat skull and rat brain.

Automatic eye localisation is a crucial part of many computervision algorithms for processing face images. Some of the existing algorithms can be very accurate unfortunately at the cost of computational complexity. In this paper the new solution to the problem of automatic eye localisation is proposed. Eye localisation is posed as a nonlinear regression problem solved by standard feed-forward multilayer perceptron (MLP) with two hidden layers. Additionally the procedure for artificial training samples generation is proposed. the input feature vector is constructed from coefficients of two dimensional discrete cosine transform(DCT) of a face image. Both, the feature extraction and neural network prediction have known efficient implementations, thus the entire procedure can be very fast. Obtained results indicate that the accuracy of the proposed approach is comparable or better than existing ones.

computervision and image analysis are techniques with potential for use in animal health and welfare monitoring systems, since they are relatively inexpensive and do not interfere withthe animals' environment. In an automatic lameness detection system for dairy cows, in particular, the performance of the model relies on the quality of the 3D input videos and therefore video pre-processing is required. this paper describes video pre-processing routines for automatic filtering of "video quality" and "cow's walking speed". Decision tree algorithms J.48 were used to classify model performance. the results show that the "video quality" filtering model correctly classified 75.7% of cases while the "cow's walking speed" achieved 91.3% accuracy. Detailed results are quantified in the form of a confusion matrix. Further optimisation of the 3D automated lameness detection system through pre-processing is needed before it can be used on commercial dairy farms.

Modeling and tracking of dynamic objects is a challenging research problem in the field of driving assistance systems. Typically, the environment to be tracked is heterogeneous and unstructured. As a consequence, the tracking system must deal with measurement uncertainties, occlusions or deformable objects. In this paper we propose a real-time object tracking solution for dynamic unstructured environments. this method relies on stereo vision-based 3D information that is mapped into an intermediate digital elevation map. We apply a recursive Bayesian approach for estimating boththe obstacle dynamic parameters and its geometry. In order to compute the obstacle motion we use an Iterative Closest Points-based registration technique that takes into consideration the stereo uncertainties. In our case, the object model is represented by a reference point and N delimiter landmarks. For each target we apply a Kalman filter in order to track the obstacle position and speed. In addition, the object geometry is updated by using an independent 2x2 Kalman filter for each delimiter landmark. the proposed method works in real-time and takes into consideration the stereo uncertainties.
