this paper presents techniques for constructing full view panoramic mosaics from sequences of images. Our representation associates a rotation matrix (and optionally a focal length) with each input image, rather than explicitly projecting all of the images onto a common surface (e.g., a cylinder). In order to reduce accumulated registration errors, we apply global alignment (block adjustment) to the whole sequence of images, which results in an optimal image mosaic (in the least-squares sense). To compensate for small amounts of motion parallax introduced by translations of the camera and other unmodeled distortions, we develop a local alignment (deghosting) technique which warps each image based on the results of pairwise local image registrations. By combining both global and local alignment, we significantly improve the quality of our image mosaics, thereby enabling the creation of full view panoramic mosaics with hand-held cameras.

A technique to perform full spectral based color calculations through an extension of OpenGL has been created. this method of color computations is more accurate than the standard RGB model that most computergraphics algorithms utilize. By maintaining full wavelength information in color calculations, it is also possible to interactively simulate and display many important color phenomena such as metamerism and fluorescence. this technique is not limited to creating simple images suitable for interactive display, however. Using this extension, it is also possible to synthesize spectroradiometric images of arbitrary spatial and spectral resolution, for use in color imaging system analysis.

Two criteria for selecting ink sets for six-color lithographic printing are discussed. the first is the volume, in CIELAB space, of an approximation of the gamut. the second is the number of pixels within a digital image (or images) whose colors are contained within the approximate gamut. In order to obtain a balance between accuracy and efficiency, the different steps in the process are prioritized according to their impact on accuracy, their requirements for specialized measurements, and the computational load they create. Factors which have a first-order impact on accuracy are measured, while factors with higher-order, less controlling, impact are computed or estimated. Overprints of two or more colorants are estimated using a spectral model, rather than measured from printed samples. Combinations of inks on the gamut surface which contain intermediate amounts of inks are estimated using a spectrally-sharpened wideband model. the estimation is performed in a space in which subtractive colorants behave more linearly than density. A convex hull of the gamut is constructed in the linear space, using computergraphics routines. through repeated bisection, the surface of the gamut is sampled in the linear space. the coordinates of the vertices are then transformed into CIELAB color space, for display, comparison, and analysis.

In this paper, a comparison between classical and computervision techniques applied on detection of follicles in ultrasound images of the ovary was discussed. From results obtained we can conclude that classical algorithm (in real-application checked procedure) is more perspective that computervision one, but we must not overlook the fact that current implementation of the latter algorithm has not been completed yet.

this paper deals with recognition of complex shape;the method used is based on minimization of prior knowledge. So we work on both representations of image features and object shapes linked to photometry and geometry propreties. A fuzzy representation is used which is defined by independent membership functions of geometric distorsion, such as rotation, zoom and deformations due to the complexity of natural objects. this method is applied in two problems :automatic fish sorting and face recognition, where objects are complex for being real-world ones.

A simple digital image mixing method based on the post-processing approach to augmented reality is demonstrated. A digital moving image sequence is composed by mixing synthetic 3D computergraphics moving image sequences with real moving image sequences taken with video cameras. the method's computational process is composed of three separate, but interdependent stages: resolution enhancement by the temporal integration method;subpixel detection of feature points using Nakazawa's active line-contour model;and camera calibration carried out with a cue-based approach where the cue is a simple geometrical pattern in the image scene.

A scalable parallel implementation of the discrete wavelet transform based on the pipeline processor farm methodology is described. Even for small-scale applications with a relatively small number of processors, the parallel implementation outperforms a single processor in execution speed. In addition, the efficiency of the proposed architecture tends to improve as the data size and filter length increase and the communication-to-computation ratio decreases, suggesting that parallel implementations of the discrete wavelet transform could be attractive in data-intensive applications like computervision and image coding.
