Mobile edge computing (MEC) deploys the edge computing servers (ECSs) to the network edge and alleviates the problems of limited computational resources and power for mobile users' equipment (UE). thus, MEC supports the massive computation-intensive applications in the integrated communications and computing 6G network (CCN). However, in mobility management of CCN, users' mobility triggers the new handover between not only two BSs but also two ECSs. When we select the optimal BS, we also need to consider whether the co-located ECS has the sufficient computational resources and low queuing delay. To obtain the lower offloading delay, the existing offloading methods produce extra handover in the decision of the optimal ECS. What's more, the existing handover decision methods ignore the problem of limited computational resources of ECS. In this paper, to meet the demands of communication and computation services, we propose a joint decision method based on multi-objective optimization method (JD-MOO) to solve the joint handover decision and computation offloading problem. We define the services satisfaction degree functions to evaluate the quality of two services. Simulation results show that the proposed JD-MOO method has good performance of handover and offloading.

this paper introduces CLEPTA, an extension to the PROFETA robotic programming framework for the integration of cloud services in developing the software for autonomous robots. CLEPTA provides a set of basic classes, together with a software architecture, which helps the programmer in specifying the invocation of cloud services in the programs handling robot's behaviour;such a feature allows designers (i) to execute computation-intensive algorithms and (ii) to include, in robot's behaviour, additional features made available in the Cloud. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2013.

Consistent and stable global states of clock synchronization are very important in distributed and parallel systems. this paper presents an innovative strategy and method to obtain stable global clock synchronization state graphs in asynchronous Internet environments. Our model will introduce the concept of clock precision difference as a means to evaluate running states of all clocks in this system and make this system self-adaptive well. Finally, we introduce the concept of clock precision difference into global states analysis of clock synchronization and construct clock synchronization state graphs in order to evaluate distributed clock synchronization states. We also present detailed simulations of the strategy and mathematical analysis used on real Internet environments. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

In this paper, we address the problem of defining a semantic indexing techniques based on RDF triples. In particular, we define algorithms for: i) defining clustering techniques of semantically similar RDF triplets;ii) defining algorithms for inserting, deleting and searching on a K-d based semantic tree built on the base of such clusterings;iii) defining a parallel implementation of the search algorithms. Preliminary experiments runned on a GRID-based parallel machines are designed and preliminary implemented and discusses, showing the performances of the proposed system. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2013.

the Random Ray Method (TRRM) is a new approach to solving partial differential equations (PDEs) based on the method of characteristics (MOC). It employs stochastic rather than deterministic discretization of characteristic tracks and can be used for the numerical simulation of nuclear reactors. In this paper, we propose SW-TRRM, a parallel optimization program for TRRM based on the Sunway Bluelight II Supercomputer for the first time. We present a two-level parallelization scheme that consists of thread-level and process-level optimization. At the thread-level, we introduce three schemes for speeding up within a single core group, including direct parallelization, parallelization by energy groups, and loop structure optimization. At the process-level, we implement task parallelization among multiple processes using domain replication. Moreover, we devise an algorithm to optimize the MPI collective communication across super-nodes. Experimental results show that SW-TRRM achieves a 17.40x speedup within a single core group compared to the original TRRM program. When scaled up to 2,048 processes and 133,120 cores, SW-TRRM maintains good strong and weak scalability.

Scientific applications usually exhibit irregular patterns of execution and high resource usage. parallel architectures are a feasible solution to face these drawbacks, but porting software to parallel platforms means the addition of an extra layer of complexity to scientific software. Abstractions such as Object Orientation and models like the concurrent object model may be of great help to develop scientific parallel applications. the shared nature of parallel architectures and the stochastic condition of parallel schedulers underline the adaptivity as a desired feature for parallel applications. Load Balancers are key for achieving adaptivity, and benefit from object oriented models in issues like load migration. In this paper we present our experiences when porting scientific software using the concurrent object abstraction and a method to asynchronously invoke load balancers. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2010.

the explosive growth of the Web contents has led to increasing attention on scalability and availability of file system. Hence, the ways to improve the reliability and availability of system, to achieve the expected reduction in operational expenses and to reduce the operations of management of system have become essential issues. A basic technique for improving reliability of a file system is to mask the effects of failures through replication. Consistency control protocols are implemented to ensure the consistency among replicas. In this paper, we leveraged the concept of intermediate file handle to cover the heterogeneity of file system and proposed an efficient data consistency control scheme supporting dependence checking among writes and management of out-of-ordered requests for file server group. Finally, the results of experiments proved the efficiency of the proposed consistency control mechanism. Above all, easy to implement is our main design consideration. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

the main contribution of this paper is to show optimal algorithms computing the sum and the prefix-sums on two memory machine models, the Discrete Memory Machine (DMM) and the Unified Memory Machine (UMM). the DMM and the UMM are theoretical parallel computing models that capture the essence of the shared memory and the global memory of GPUs. these models have three parameters, the number p of threads, the width w of the memory, and the memory access latency l. We first show that the sum of n numbers can be computed in time units on the DMM and the UMM. We then go on to show that time units are necessary to compute the sum. Finally, we show an optimal parallel algorithm that computes the prefix-sums of n numbers in time units on the DMM and the UMM. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
