In this paper, we consider the problem of enumerating naphthalene isomers, where enumeration of isomers is important for drug design. A chemical graph G with no other cycles than naphthalene rings is called tree-like, and becomes a tree T possibly with multiple edges if we contract each naphthalene ring into a single virtual atom of valence 8. We call tree T the tree representation of G. there may be more than one tree-like chemical graphs whose tree representations equal to T, which are called naphthalene isomers of T. We present an efficient algorithm that enumerates all naphthalene isomers of a given tree representation. Our algorithm first counts the number of all the naphthalene isomers using dynamic programming, and then for each k, generates the k-th isomer by backtracking the counting computation. In computational experiment, we compare our method with MolGen, a state-of-the-art enumeration tool, and it is observed that our program enumerates the same number of naphthalene isomers within extremely shorter time, which proves that our algorithm is effectively built. Feature selection is a technique used to reduce irrelevant data and finding the most relevant features that would increase classification accuracy. It is widely used in various applications such as medical, agriculture and Information Technology. In producing better classification result, feature selection been applied in many of the classification works as part of preprocessing step;where only a subset of feature been used rather than the whole features from a particular dataset. this research is conducted with the intention to find the appropriate data types according to the percentage of attributes reduction and classification performance. During the experiments, the effectiveness of data handling for Bat algorithm is tested via type of data and size of attributes in generic dataset. 10 datasets from UCI repository from various applications are used. the selected features are selected using Bat algorithm and measured by three classifiers;k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN), Nalive Bayes (NB) and Decision Tree (DT). this paper then analyzes the performance of all classifiers with and without feature selection in term of accuracy, sensitivity, F-Measure and ROC. the research found that although the percentage of reduction is high, it produces lowest result in classification performance since the type of data and number of attribute are not appropriate.

Motion estimation (ME) has been extensively applied in the computer vision, including vision-based target tracking in the air. For attaining robust performance in noise and handling obscuration or the parallel moving nearby target interferences trajectories, the ME algorithm based on the spatio-temporal continuous wavelet transform (CWT) with a band pass velocity Kalman Filter in the transform domain is proposed, which is designed to conduct the efficient multiple target tracking in an adjustable spatio-temporal processing block. the CWT allowing for the definition of three energy densities over a subset of the CWT parameter space, which accompanied with Kalman Filter has been employed to capture motion information over multiple frames and proved excellent in velocity selectivity. To best handle interferences among multiple nearby targets, a simpler and robust solution called as self-adaptive rotation of coordinates and a practical functional relation between the target radius, speed and the scale parameter is developed. the presented novel joint processing technique using expectation-maximization based Gaussian mixture estimation, together with a global nearest neighborhood algorithm to perform data association, achieves maintaining kinematic trajectory of every targets either in linear or nonlinear motion. Examples with synthetic data and real data taken in air surveillance are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of these proposed strategies.

Network criticality indicators, such as the Unified Network Performance Measure, provide powerful tools for interested entities who aim to assess those parts of the network, the closure of which would mostly affect its overall performance. the progress in complex networks analysis on the premises of graph theory allowed for advances on the identification of network characteristics and alternative sets of indicators for the evaluation of network performance. the aim of the present paper is to lay out the contribution of network analytics (in the form of complexity and criticality indicators) in disaster management, with the road network of the Peloponnese region, Greece, acting as a case study. Findings show that adopting interdisciplinary advances can provide useful insights to entities, responsible for the mitigation, preparedness, response, and reconstruction phases of disaster management and support them in the complex decision-making process.

discrete structures are foundational materials for computer science and mathematics, which are related to set theory, symbolic logic, inductive proof, graph theory, combinatorics, probability theory, etc. Many problems are decomposed into discrete structures using simple primitive algebraic operations. A Binary Decision Diagram (BDD) is a representation of a Boolean function, one of the most basic models of discrete structures. After the epoch-making paper [1] by Bryant in 1986, BDD-based methods have attracted a great deal of attention. the BDD was originally developed for the efficient Boolean function manipulation required in VLSI logic design, however, later they are also used for sets of combinations which represent many kinds of combinatorial patterns. A Zero-suppressed BDD (ZDD) [2] is a variant of the BDD, customized for representing a set of combinations. ZDDs have been successfully applied not only to VLSI design, but also for solving various combinatorial problems, such as constraint satisfaction, frequent pattern mining, and graph enumeration. Recently, ZDDs have become more widely known, since D. E. Knuth intensively discussed ZDD-based algorithms in the latest volume of his famous series of books [3]. Although a quarter of a century has passed since Bryant first put forth his idea, there are still many interesting and exciting research topics related to BDDs and ZDDs [4]. One of the most important topics would be that, Knuth presented an extremely fast algorithm "Simpath" [3] to construct a ZDD which enumerates all the paths connecting two points in a given graph structure. this work is important because many kinds of practical problems are efficiently solved by some variations of this algorithm. We generically call such ZDD construction methods "frontier-based methods." the above techniques of data structures and algorithms have been implemented and published as an open software library, named "Graphillion"[5], [6]. More recent development in smart grid technology and communication system, power protection of transmission system leads to next level of digitization. the proposed technique shows the feature with digital protection of system integration protection scheme (SPIS) for large power transmission grids to address faults based on phasor measurement units. the fundamental assumption of the protection scheme depends on comparing positive sequence voltage magnitudes at each bus during fault conditions inside a local backup protection centre to locate the nearest bus to the fault. then the absolute differences of positive sequence current angles are compared for all lines connecting to this bus to detect the faulted line. this new technique depends on synchronized phasor measuring technology with high speed communication system synchronized with GPS clock pulse. the simulation of the interconnecting system is applied on 220 kV Odisha Power Transmission Corporation (OPTCL) network using Matlab Simulink. the new technique can successfully distinguish the faults for interconnected lines. the new protection scheme works as unit protection system for long transmission lines.

Most of the real world problems are inherently constrained in nature. there are several nature inspired algorithms being developed;however their performance degenerate when applied solving constrained problems. this paper proposes Cohort Intelligence (CI) approach in which a probability based constrained handling approach is incorporated. this approach is tested by solving four well known test problems. the performance is compared and discussed with regard to the robustness, computational cost, standard deviation and rate of convergence etc. the constrained CI approach is used here to solve few inequality based constrained problems. the solution to these problems indicates that the CI approach can be further efficiently applied to solve a variety of practical/real world problems. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2016.

In this state-of-the-art paper, methods of the elastic flexural-torsional buckling evaluation, applied to perfect beams and beam-columns, are summarized. Firstly, basic relationships for unrestrained beams under moment gradient are briefly discussed. An alternative method for the evaluation of elastic buckling moment, in reference to the beam under moment gradient with an arbitrarily asymmetry factor of the bending moment diagram, is presented. the developed relationship is then taken for the evaluation of critical load factor of a single beam-column being the segment of a more complex system of discretely restrained in the out-of-plane direction. Next, presented formulations are suggested to be used in approximate analytical methods for the prediction of elastic flexural-torsional instability of perfect beam-columns which take into consideration the effect of lateral continuity between restraints.

this paper presents a framework that has been developed for automatic activity recognition and domestic behavior monitoring, towards supporting elderly MCI patients in their daily domestic life. Our framework's infrastructure consists of a network of smart-home sensors and RGB-D cameras that can be adapted and be unobtrusively installed in a variety of indoor living areas, collecting data relative to the human's movement and the state of the home environment. User activities and behavior are then assessed through machine learning algorithms applied on these data. the developed framework has been applied in real house settings and extensive analysis has been performed, so as to investigate how human activity and behavior monitoring needs, in the scope of ICT solutions for supporting active and healthy ageing of MCI patients, can be covered in the scope of corresponding service robot applications.
