We propose in this paper an approach whose main objective is to detect disturbances that affect an electric power signal. the method allows us to locate the time occurrence of these disturbances. the signal processing consists of determining two distributions that are based on the energy of the wavelet signal decomposition: the deviation distribution and the deformation distribution. theses distributions are a signature of the disturbance and are able to provide an identification of the type of the problem. the method has been developed using the analysis by the discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). the electrical signal is decomposed into several levels by DWT. the different waveforms resolution levels allows us to detect any deviations from the sane signal. the energy distributions data obtained in the first step will be used as feature vectors for training an artificial neural network (ANN) with multilayer perceptrons (MLPs) and support vector machines (SVMs) to classify the Power Quality Disturbance (PQD).

An innovated investigation of the control problem for nonlinear discrete-time plant systems via Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model was carried out. Firstly, nonlinear dynamic plants are represented by such a fuzzy model, and then the overall fuzzy model of nonlinear plant is transformed into a class of uncertain linear systems. thus the stabilization problem of nonlinear plants was mapped into equivalent robust stabilization problem of uncertain linear systems with mismatched uncertainties. the robust stabilization of such uncertain systems is achieved by applying discrete-time sliding mode control approach. the stable sliding surface is designed via linear matrix inequalities to reduce the influence of mismatched uncertainties while also a sufficient condition for its existence was derived too. the synthesis design of the SMC guarantees system robust stabilization in closed loop. Chattering around the sliding surface in sliding mode control is also considerably reduced by this design. this novel technique was applied to the trailer-truck benchmark example and the essential simulation results are given to demonstrate feasibility and performance effectiveness of the proposed method.

discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is a powerful mathematical tool which has stimulated many developments in several scientific and technical fields, particularly in signal and image Processing; analysis and compression. Its multi-resolution properties are a major advantage for their use in the JPEG.2000 standard. In video coding, motion management is an important task. Indeed, on one hand, the DWT does not preserve the translation invariance because of the underlying dyadic down-sampling process. that justifies the absence of a DWT-based video compression standard until now. On the other hand, video coding standards using discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) produces often undesirable artifacts. Our contribution aims to exploit the DWT multi-resolution properties using a motion estimation technique to avoid the problem of DWT translation-invariance which leads to false motion vectors. In this paper we present a new color video compression using DWT and a motion compensation technology, that we called SSC-MC. An assessment of the proposed scheme was operated on a set of standard video sequences; the results are compared withthe well known standards. It is shown that our results are promising.
