Object oriented programing has been developing for 30 years so far, however, it's in the last decade that it has kept a fast growing and developing of methodologies, by using speed and processing capability advances in the develop of high complexity software. Along with this advances, automation industry has introduced and modified different methodologies such as Petri Hierarchized Net and its sub web and modules, being able to get profit from multiprocessing and apply tasks at the same time for the automate. In this article, we present similarities in concepts and structure of Object-Oriented Programming with languages of functional blocs and Petri Hierarchy Nets. We will conclude the differences in which a programmer approaches the program structure and uses them, as well as the way it is possible to introduce new concepts of object-oriented programming to these languages, such as classes and inheritances, to make easier and reducing programming developing timing in high complexity automation programs. Furthermore, the improvements that programming design brings into object-oriented in automation fields are mentioned, the develop of automation programs, in particular, as well as the impact that a harder formalization could have on concepts and methodologies.

the mechanical design, electronics and the control program developed in order to perform, automatically, the deposition of crystalline layers on substrates using the liquid phase epitaxy technique is described. the implementation of the system includes the hardware and control software of the substrate movements, the gas flow system, the temperature program and the monitoring of the main physical variables such as temperature, humidity, flow, pressure etc. the movement the substrate is done by means of a solenoid whose core is coupled to the slider of the graphite boat. this system was proposed in order to maintain the hermeticity of the system which is vital to achieve the epitaxial growth and to decrease the power of the electric motor that drives the solenoid.

We investigated the effect of the efference copy and the proprioceptive feedback on auditory-tactile temporal order judgment, using Temporal Order Judgment (TOJ) task to measure the differences in Point of Subjective Simultaneity (PSS) and Just Noticeable Difference (JND). these parameters were measured under Voluntary condition, Involuntary condition, and No-movement condition. While both the Involuntary and Voluntary conditions contain proprioceptive feedback, only Voluntary condition contains efference copy. JND of Voluntary condition was smaller than that of No-movement condition. PSS was significantly different among the three conditions. Movement condition shifted PSS to the point where auditory stimulus presented prior to tactile stimulus compared to No-movement condition. Furthermore, the shift in PSS of Voluntary condition was larger than that of Involuntary condition. these results suggest that each proprioceptive information and efference copy accelerates tactile perception, and voluntary movement improves the resolution of TOJ for audio-tactile stimulus, while the proprioceptive information alone does not achieve significant effect of improvement on the judgment in involuntary motion. © 2012 IEEE.

the IEEE RAS Ontologies for Robotics and automation Working Group is dedicated to developing a methodology for knowledge representation and reasoning in robotics and automation. As part of this working group, the Autonomous Robots sub-group is tasked with developing ontology modules for autonomous robots. this paper describes the work in progress on the development of ontologies for autonomous systems. For autonomous systems, the focus is on the cooperation, coordination, and communication of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). the ontologies serve as a framework for working out concepts of employment with multiple vehicles for a variety of operational scenarios with emphasis on collaborative and cooperative missions. © 2012 IEEE.

We combine the WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) method that is one of recent advanced optical communication technology and EtherCAT method that is one of the technologies of industrial Ethernet communication. In this paper, we present the technology of bi-directional optical EtherCAT with single optical core of WDM. through this process, we can solve wiring problem of optical network and we also can implement the dual system.

Experimentally comparing the energy usage and comfort characteristics of different controllers in heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems is difficult because variations in weather and occupancy conditions preclude the possibility of establishing equivalent experimental conditions across the order of hours, days, and weeks. this paper is concerned with defining quantitative metrics of energy usage and occupant comfort, which can be computed and compared in a rigorous manner that is capable of determining whether differences between controllers are statistically significant in the presence of such environmental fluctuations. Experimental case studies are presented that compare two alternative controllers (a schedule controller and a hybrid system learning-based model predictive controller) to the default controller in a building-wide HVAC system. Lastly, we discuss how our proposed methodology may also be able to quantify the efficiency of other building automation systems.

Bipolar depression is a common psychiatric diagnosis that describes a category of mood disorders. this disease threatens human's life and quality of life with its high morbidity and mortality. Bipolar depression is characterized by the diversity of clinical symptoms (manic symptoms, depressive symptoms and psychotic symptoms) and courses of complex and is easily confused with schizophrenia, major depression, so the treatment is very difficult. We aimed to examine the abnormality in resting-state brain activity in the default-mode network (DMN) in adults with depression episodes of bipolar disorder (BD) by using independent component analysis (ICA) method. ICA is a statistical technique which linearly decomposes a multidimensional data vector into components that are as statistically independent as possible. Twenty-two patients with BD depression and the same amount of the healthy subjects participated in the functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans. Our results showed that resting-state middle temporal gyrus, middle frontal gyrus, precuneus, and caudate in DMN were significantly greater in the BD compared to the control group (NC). they also had superior temporal gyrus, inferior parietal lobule, cingulated gyrus, fusiform and postcentral gyrus in DMN that were greater in NC compared to BD. these results were consistent with a model of BD that involves dysfunction in the prefrontal-limbic networks and the associated striatal systems. © 2012 IEEE.

In clinical field, it is important for medical personnel, patients and their families to decide speedy and precisely, for the decisions affect efficiency of treatment and satisfaction for the treatment. And more importantly, sometimes, the decisions affect patient's life. thus, development of decision support system should be a primary topic in medical engineering field. In this study, effect of time in decision making was investigated as a step for the development of the system. In concrete, as a test of economic decision making, we conducted an ultimatum game experiment with a controlled length of time for making the decision. An ultimatum game is a game in which a reward is divided between two people. Previous work has established that people make economically irrational choices due to the effect of emotion in ultimatum games. We focused on the effect of the length of time given to make a decision in the game. the control of time length is new for the use of ultimatum games. this study verified the result of previous work on the effect of emotion in decision making and newly demonstrated the fact that the length of time taken to make a decision affects its result - a longer time-length leads to a more economically reasonable decision. this feature is assumed to be correlated to brain activity in the insula, the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex. And applicable to the medical ICT field. © 2012 IEEE.

Information systems exist in every aspect of our life and our society depends on them enormously. Despite this reliance, these systems are often unreliable, prone to errors, and pose vulnerabilities for potential security attacks. We are often faced with a choice between using a valuable (or even an essential) system, which is not fully trustworthy, or else forgoing the services it provides. Developing a trustworthy software system is a challenging task. the system's overall trustworthiness depends on trust relationships that are usually assumed and not properly analysed during the analysis and design of the system. the lack of appropriate analysis of such trust relationships, or the lack of appropriate justification of relevant trust assumptions, usually results in systems that can potentially fail to fully achieve those functionalities that depend on such trust relationships. In this paper, we present a meta-model for a modelling language that allows developers to capture possible trust relationships and to reason about them. the meta-model includes a set of trust based concepts, which support the development of trustworthy systems. A case study from the UK health care sector is used to illustrate the usefulness of the meta-model. © 2012 IEEE.
