A novel robust tracking control technique for time-delay systems with uncertain time-delays based on fuzzy T-S is presented. Fuzzy T-S model with parametric uncertainties is employed to represent the uncertain timedelay plant. this control synthesis design is shown reduce the tracking error considerably for all bounded reference inputs while guaranteeing the H ~∞ performance. the proposed solution has advantage of employing only a simple fuzzy controller and no complicated adaptive scheme. the fuzzy tracking control synthesis is parameterized in terms of a linear matrix inequality, which are solved efficiently by using convex optimization techniques. this method has been applied to trailer-truck example and respective numerical and simulation results demonstrate its valid applicability and efficiency.

the problem of quadratic stability for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems using Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is solved and certain relaxed conditions are derived. Firstly, a new robust quadratic stability condition via designing state feedback controller for T-S fuzzy system with uncertainties is derived. this condition is represented in the form of LMI and it is shown to be less conservative than similar known relaxed quadratic stabilization conditions in recent literature. Secondly, a dynamic output feedback control design for complex nonlinear systems represented by T-S fuzzy model is derived. these new techniques consider the interactions among all fuzzy subsystems. Finally, the applicability and validity of the proposed approach are demonstrated by means control design and simulation results for an illustrative example.

An innovated investigation of the control problem for nonlinear discrete-time plant systems via Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model was carried out. Firstly, nonlinear dynamic plants are represented by such a fuzzy model, and then the overall fuzzy model of nonlinear plant is transformed into a class of uncertain linear systems. thus the stabilization problem of nonlinear plants was mapped into equivalent robust stabilization problem of uncertain linear systems with mismatched uncertainties. the robust stabilization of such uncertain systems is achieved by applying discrete-time sliding mode control approach. the stable sliding surface is designed via linear matrix inequalities to reduce the influence of mismatched uncertainties while also a sufficient condition for its existence was derived too. the synthesis design of the SMC guarantees system robust stabilization in closed loop. Chattering around the sliding surface in sliding mode control is also considerably reduced by this design. this novel technique was applied to the trailer-truck benchmark example and the essential simulation results are given to demonstrate feasibility and performance effectiveness of the proposed method.

When converting a serial program to a parallel program that can run on a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) the developer must choose what functions will run on the GPU. For each function the developer chooses, he or she needs to manually write code to: (1) serialize state to GPU memory, (2) define the kernel code that the GPU will execute, (3) control the kernel launch and (4) deserialize state back to CPU memory. Rootbeer is a project that allows developers to simply write code in Java and the (de)serialization, kernel code generation and kernel launch is done automatically. this is in contrast to Java language bindings for CUDA or OpenCL where the developer still has to do these things manually. Rootbeer supports all features of the Java Programming Language except dynamic method invocation, reflection and native methods. the features that are supported are: (1) single and multi-dimensional arrays of primitive and reference types, (2) composite objects, (3) instance and static fields, (4) dynamic memory allocation, (5) inner classes, (6) synchronized methods and monitors, (7) strings and (8) exceptions that are thrown or caught on the GPU. Rootbeer is the most full-featured tool to enable GPU computing from within Java to date. Rootbeer is highly tested. We have 21k lines of product code and 6.5k lines of test cases that all pass on both Windows and Linux. We have created 3 performance example applications with results ranging from 3X slow-downs to 100X speed-ups. Rootbeer is free and open-source software licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPLv3).

Classifier selection is a problem encountered by multi-biometric systems that aim to improve performance through fusion of decisions. A particular decision fusion architecture that combines multiple instances (n classifiers) and multiple samples (m attempts at each classifier) has been proposed in previous work to achieve controlled trade-off between false alarms and false rejects. Although analysis on text-dependent speaker verification has demonstrated better performance for fusion of decisions with favourable dependence compared to statistically independent decisions, the performance is not always optimal. Given a pool of instances, best performance with this architecture is obtained for certain combination of instances. Heuristic rules and diversity measures have been commonly used for classifier selection but it is shown that optimal performance is achieved for the `best combination performance' rule. As the search complexity for this rule increases exponentially with the addition of classifiers, a measure - the sequential error ratio (SER) - is proposed in this work that is specifically adapted to the characteristics of sequential fusion architecture. the proposed measure can be used to select a classifier that is most likely to produce a correct decision at each stage. Error rates for fusion of text-dependent HMM based speaker models using SER are compared with other classifier selection methodologies. SER is shown to achieve near optimal performance for sequential fusion of multiple instances with or without the use of multiple samples. the methodology applies to multiple speech utterances for telephone or internet based access control and to other systems such as multiple finger print and multiple handwriting sample based identity verification systems.

In this paper, we investigated the influence of asymmetric on TCP over HFC-based networks and related methods to improve the TCP performance. then, a scheme called Modified Adaptive SACK Filtering is proposed to improve the TCP performance by adjusting the size of the block information in SACK option according to the real-time characteristics of network. Furthermore, based on the fact that the forward data is isotonic in HFC, Accelerated Lost Package Confirm is proposed to accelerate retransmission of lost packet. Based on the simulation results, the scheme make more significant performance improvement on TCP throughput than Reno and SACK Filtering.

this paper presents an advanced monitoring and diagnosis method for detecting of incipient electrical and mechanical faults in a wind-turbine-driven doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). In this application, the stator windings are directly connected to the grid, whereas a converter controls the rotor currents by means of a Field Oriented control (FOC) scheme. A new diagnostic method, based upon frequency analysis of the dq rotor current error signals inside the machine-side converter controller, is proposed. Simulation results confirm that the spectra of these signals have features that are suitable for an effective diagnostic procedure. the proposed system could be embedded in a wind turbine at very low cost.

Auto-Disturbance Rejection controller (ADRC) has been proved to be a capable replacement of PID with unmistakable advantage in performance and practicality. But it is difficult to obtain a set of optimal parameters, for ADRC controller has too many parameters and has no deterministic rules to compute the parameters. In this paper, Objective function is constructed based on the control system performance indexes. Combined with experienced parameters of ADRC, an invasive weed optimization algorithm (IWO) is employed to obtain a set of key parameters. the simulation results show the validity of the IWO algorithm. © 2011 IEEE.

this paper discusses the robust H∞ control problem for discrete-time switched interval system. the multiple Lyapunov function method is combined with the Finsler's Lemma to generate several new results which provide extra degree of freedom for stability analysis and control synthesis. A new sufficient condition is obtained for the unforced discrete-time switched interval system, then, based on the above discussion, the robust H ∞ control synthesis via state feedback is studied for the closed-loop switched interval system. Finally, two simulation examples are given to illustrate the validity of the results. © 2011 IEEE.
