We present in this paper affine linear and nonlinear techniques for design space exploration of the finite-field multiplication using reordered normal basis. Fifteen basic designs are possible using these linear techniques that are in close agreement with the results previously published using ad-hoc techniques. However, the major contribution of this paper is the introduction of nonlinear techniques to allow the designer to control the workload per processor and also control the communication requirements between processors. We present also models for the performance of processor arrays implementing the finite field multiplier. Performance includes system area, delay and power consumption. the main parameters affecting performance include the number of bits processed in parallel per processor and the hardware details such as how much each performance parameters depend on the number of bits being processed in parallel. © 2011 IEEE.

the choice of fitting algorithm in CMM metrology has often been based on mathematical convenience rather than the fundamental GD&T principles dictated by the ASME Y14.5 standard. Algorithms based on the least squares technique are mostly used for GD&T inspection and this wrong choice of fitting algorithm results in errors that are often overlooked and leads to deficiency in the inspection process. the efforts by organizations such as NIST and NPL and many other researchers to evaluate commercial CMM software were concerned with the mathematical correctness of the algorithms and developing efficient and intelligent methods to overcome the inherent difficulties associated with the mathematics of these algorithms. None of these works evaluate the ramifications of the choice of a particular fitting algorithm for a particular tolerance type. To illustrate the errors that can arise out of a wrong choice of fitting algorithm, a case study was done on a simple prismatic part with intentional variations and the algorithms that were employed in the software were reverse engineered Based on the results of the experiments, a standardization of fitting algorithms is proposed in light of the definition provided in the standard and an interpretation of manual inspection methods. the standardized fitting algorithms developed for substitute feature fitting are then used to develop Inspection maps (i-Maps) for size, orientation and form tolerances that apply to planar feature types. A methodology for Statistical Process control (SPC) using these i-Maps is developed by fitting the i-Maps for a batch of parts into the parent Tolerance Maps (T-Maps).Different methods of computing the i-Maps for a batch are explored such as the mean, standard deviations, computing the convex hull and doing a principal component analysis of the distribution of the individual parts. the control limits for the process and the SPC and process capability metrics are computed from inspection samples and the re

Paper deals with the architecture of Power Quality Analyzer based on CompactRIO platform. the Power Quality Analyzer functionality is based on requirements of the latest power quality standards e.g. IEC 61000-4-30, 61000-4-7, 61000-4-15, EN 50160. there are many vendors of such an instrument worldwide, most of them use proprietary solutions based on microcomputers or DSPs. Such instruments are small and have low consumption however they do not bring flexibility and modularity of analyzers based on virtual instrumentation. the trend for complex measurement instrument over the last years moved towards measurement instruments that define their capability through software. Model based control of machining processes is aimed at improving the performance of CNC systems by using the knowledge of machining process to reduce cost, improving machining accuracy and improving overall productivity. In this paper, real time control of the machining process to maintain dimensional quality when turning a slender bar is addressed. the goal is to actively control the machining feed rate to maintain constant and predicable deflection through a combined force-stiffness model integrated to the process controller. A brief review is presented on manufacturing process models, process monitoring, and model based control strategies such as Model Predictive control (MPC). the main objective of this paper is to outline a method for deploying such models to process control. To demonstrate this, model of the deflection of the workpiece under tool cutting forces is developed. Unknown process parameters have been calculated using series of FEA simulations and verified with basic experimental data. A simple but effective control strategy has been formulated and simulated. In the initial results, the diameter of bar is maintained within 1.04% error with controller as opposed to up to 4% error without controller. Ultimately, the goal is to deploy such control strategies in the industrial control system. With the continual development in physical understanding of machining processes and affordable computing technology (both software and hardware) coupled with Open Architecture control (OAC) applied to CNC machine tools, such approaches are now computationally feasible. this will be an enabling factor to deploy model based control in an industrial environment. the last section discusses the proposed hardware architecture to achieve this. the paper concludes with a brief plan for the future work and a summary.

In this paper we describe the pre-processing techniques and the theory of classical mechanics we have adopted in order to computed both 3D motion maps and 3D strain tensor over the Sciara del Fuoco (SdF), the Stromboli volcano (Italy) steep flank subjects to dangerous landslide events. Given an environment and a robot, how much of the environment is reachable or accessible to the robot? this fundamental problem in robotics is known as reachable workspace estimation and is closely related to the problem of determining possible kinematic motions of a robot. For mobile kinematic structures with high degrees of freedom (DOFs) in cluttered environments, the motion planning problem is known to be NP-hard. Given the intractability of the problem, we present an efficient probabilistic method for workspace estimation based on the use of a hierarchical strategy and a probabilistic motion planner. the probabilistic motion planner is used to identify reachable portions of the workspace but rather than treating each DOF equally, a hierarchical representation is used to maximize the volume of the robot's workspace that is identified as reachable for each probe of the environment. Experiments with a simulated mobile manipulator demonstrate that the hierarchical approach is an effective alternative to the use of an estimation process based on the use of a traditional probabilistic planner. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Tor has become one of the most popular overlay networks for anonymizing TCP traffic. Hidden service provided by Tor allows users to run a TCP server under a pseudonym, and its resources can be accessed without the operator's real identity being revealed. In this paper, we propose a novel HTTP based application-level attack against Tor's hidden web service. Under the assumption that the entry of the suspected hidden server's circuit is occupied, we evaluate the time correlation between the web accessing and the generated traffic in the malicious onion router. Furthermore, we analyze the probability that the malicious onion routers occupy the entry of the hidden server's circuit when advertise high bandwidth, which is the foundation of our attack. We conducted real-world experiments to evaluate our attack method. the empirical results demonstrate that the hidden service can be effectively and efficiently located. © 2011 IEEE.

In Networked control Systems (NCSs) the information is exchanged through a real-time communication network among control system components. So the network induced time delay and data dropouts are unavoidable in NCSs. the time delay may degrade the performance of control systems and even destabilize the systems if the systems are designed without considering the effects of the time delays properly. Once the structure of a NCS is confirmed, it is essential to identify what the maximum time delay is allowed for maintaining the system stability which, in turn, is also associated with the process of controller design. this paper proposes a new method for estimating the maximum allowable time delay in networked control system with norm bounded nonlinearity. Some studies have been reported in estimation of the maximum time-delay allowed for retaining the system stability. However, most of the reported methods are normally over complicated for practical applications. A new stability method based on using the finite difference approximation for the delay term is proposed in this paper for estimating the maximum time-delay tolerance in networked control system with bounded nonlinearity, which has a simple structure and is easy to apply. © 2011 CACSUK.

In evolutionary graph theory [1] biologists study the problem of determining the probability that a small number of mutants overtake a population that is structured on a weighted, possibly directed graph. Currently Monte Carlo simulations are used for estimating such fixation probabilities on directed graphs, since no good analytical methods exist. In this paper, we introduce a novel deterministic algorithm for computing fixation probabilities for strongly connected directed, weighted evolutionary graphs under the case of neutral drift, which we show to be a lower bound for the case where the mutant is more fit than the rest of the population (previously, this was only observed from simulation). We also show that, in neutral drift, fixation probability is additive under the weighted, directed case. We implement our algorithm and show experimentally that it consistently outperforms Monte Carlo simulations by several orders of magnitude, which can allow researchers to study fixation probability on much larger graphs.

In this paper, the performance of parallel interference cancellation (PIC) multiuser detector in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) mobile communication systems is investigated. In multiuser systems, the multi-user interference (MUI) degraded the system performance, especially in near-far effect environments. the PIC scheme is proposed to reduce the MUIs and to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance for uplink OFDMA systems. Simulation results show that under the near far problems for both block sub carrier assignment scheme (BCAS) and block-interleaved sub carrier assignment scheme (ICAS), the PIC scheme can improve the BER performance for all users. © 2011 IEEE.
