We consider the problem of implementing security algorithms into embedded systems deployed in automation applications. Such systems are typically built on embedded microcontrollers with limited resources and as hardware changes may not be possible or convenient, the software based cryptography is a suitable solution. In this paper we present results of performance benchmarks of different software-implemented symmetric cryptography algorithms on 8 and 16-bit microcontroller platforms. the contribution of the work is in comparing performance of different algorithms, embedded microcontroller platforms, effects of optimizations and different implementations.

this paper discusses the robust H∞ control problem for discrete-time switched interval system. the multiple Lyapunov function method is combined withthe Finsler’s Lemma to generate several new results which provide extra degree of freedom for stability analysis and control synthesis. A new sufficient condition is obtained for the unforced discrete-time switched interval system. then, based on the above discussion, the robust H∞ control synthesis via state feedback is studied for the closed-loop switched interval system. Finally, two simulation examples are given to illustrate the validity of the results.

this work proposed an improvement for the visual odometry based on a new hardware design concept. Generally, a visual odometry system relies on one stereo camera to detect the 3D features which are used as input for the ego motion estimation process. However, such design usually faced withthe motion ambiguity problem resulting in poor estimation of the ego motion. the proposed multi-camera system solves this problem using an intuitive hardware design that enables a simple yet effective way to eliminate the motion ambiguity problems. Experiment results show that the proposed system yields better ego motion estimation compared to the conventional single camera system.
