Renewable energy is crucial for electrifying remote areas, especially islands. Hybrid renewable energy systems that combine photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) are a promising solution, as they eliminate the need for fossil fuels. However, reducing energy costs remains a significant challenge for these stand-alone hybrid systems. In residential off-grid systems, there are often deferrable loads, those whose operation can be rescheduled or shifted. this study explores how deferrable loads impact energy costs. In simple terms, deferrable loads are seen as a proportion of the total load. By analyzing different proportions of deferrable loads in relation to the total load, simulations are conducted using the HOMER software. the results reveal that by having 40% deferrable loads can reduce energy costs and alleviate capacity shortage by up to 50%.

the smart home system is a system in which there are features for controlling and monitoring household electronic equipment. the smart home application system is a combination of technology and services specific to the home environment. the main purpose of applying LoRa-based smart home system technology in this study is to monitoring room temperature and controlling electronic devices. the communication module used in this research is the LoRa Dragino 915 MHz module. the LoRa Dragino 915 MHz module is used as a communication tool between the LoRa Client and LoRa Server. the LoRa-based smart home system prototype that has built can function properly according to specifications because it can monitoring room temperature in real-time and controlling electronic devices. Also, the range of communication signals between LoRa Client and LoRa Server which is the test in this research can work at a maximum distance of 183 meters in semi-open spaces while obstructed spaced the maximum distance is lower, which is only 63 meters.

this paper describes the idea of novel approach to creating an expert system for partial discharge (PD) assessment in power transformers. the proposed system is intended to support the decision-making process regarding technical condition assessment of power transformers. the primal objective of this study is to share the idea with the academia and industry in order to find potential partners interested in practical realization of such a solution. Moreover, this paper analyzes state of the art in the field of expert systems for PD, introduces experience and competences of the research team involved in this project, and presents the results of surveys among industrial entities representing the point of view and needs of the transformer market in this matter. Results show that in most cases, contemporary PD analysis systems do not meet all the needs of their end users, and proposed expert system is sought by the industry, and would be willingly used in their practice.

the push for miniaturization and functional integration in electronics packaging is driving the adoption of increasingly complex three-dimensional designs, necessitating advanced optical 6D Pose Estimation techniques for precise automated manufacturing. this study covers the development, investigation, and comparison of two distinct optical approaches aimed at achieving precise pose detection with six degrees of freedom (6-DoF) of electronic components, in particular of Direct Bonded Copper substrates. One method involved using laser-engraved optical markers (specifically ArUco Markers), while the other relied on Keypoint Detection, utilizing YOLOv8 and Mask R-CNN trained on both real and synthetic data. Performance evaluation of these techniques was conducted by engineering a novel vision setup designed to maintain precise control over lighting conditions while facilitating accurate pose adjustments of the probe in six dimensions relative to the camera. the analysis revealed that the Keypoint Detection method, particularly with YOLOv8, exhibited superior accuracy in translation along the x- and y-directions, as well as rotation around the x- and y-axes. Conversely, the marker-based approach demonstrated significantly higher accuracy in translation in the z-direction and rotation around the z-axis. through a qualitative analysis coupled with extensive quantitative evaluation, the study reveals the strengths and weaknesses of 6D Pose Estimation methods, particularly when applied to miniature copper components.

there is no doubt that 5G and 6G technologies coupled with secure edge network capabilities play crucial roles in the evolution of Industry 4.0 and emerging Industry 5.0. In Industry 4.0, 5G enhances smart manufacturing by enabling ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC), massive machine-type communication (mMTC), and enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB). these features support real-time monitoring, automation, edge computing, and data exchange across interconnected devices and systems to improve industrial efficiency and productivity. With Industry 5.0, which focuses on human-machine collaboration, 5G continues to be vital, but the advent of 6G will bring even greater capabilities. 6G is expected to offer a higher level of autonomy and advanced artificial intelligence integration by facilitating seamless interaction between humans, machines as well as intelligent systems via edge networking. this will enable more sophisticated applications, such as advanced robotics, virtual and augmented reality experiences, further connected driving innovations, and also the symbiosis between humans and technology, built on ubiquitous connectivity. From a leading mobile network operator perspective, in this paper, we delve into how 5G technology, empowered with secure edge networks, can transform XR communication, vehicular communication, and also UAV-based aerial communication while enabling safer, more reliable, and more efficient systems in the smart city applications on the road to 6G.

the reliability of the electrical system is one of the most important aspects in ensuring the distribution of electrical power supply, especially in remote and isolated areas. With the increase in customer loads each year, the stability of the power system is quite fluctuating, therefore PLN in this case as the main supplier of electrical power must guarantee the quality of power and the stability of the electrical power system. therefore, a thorough planning is needed to meet the needs of electrical power, especially in West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan. this experiment focuses on optimizing the planning and operation control in Melak Isolated Electrical Power System in West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan. therefore, the system is more reliable and stable, can meet the needs of the electrical energy supply in the area. Some of the steps taken in this experiment include conducting mathematical modeling of the generating system; determining the objective function; collecting planning data and generator operation dispatch; formulating parameters into objective functions; starting optimization of planning and operation; testing with planning and operation simulations; and analysis of optimization result data.

Reinforcement learning (RL) has traditionally excelled in well-defined environments with clear objectives and boundaries. However, the growing interest in open-ended environments, where the rules, goals, and dynamics can evolve or remain undefined, has posed significant challenges to conventional RL methodologies. this paper explores the adaptations and innovations in RL that address the unique demands of open-ended environments. Key approaches that we will examine include hierarchical reinforcement learning, intrinsic motivation-driven exploration strategies, meta-learning, and skill discovery without supervision. these methods are analyzed in conjunction with the open-ended goals of the study, which is to address the issues of complexity, uncertainty, and extensiveness inherent in considering the design of the open-ended systems. At the same time, we look at real-world uses in computer games, robotics, and autonomous systems, where RL is already used to deal with changing and uncertain environments. Lastly, we discuss the future directions of the work and the problems that are still not resolved, stating that there is a need for scalable solutions and a multidisciplinary approach in order to harness the maximum potential that RL demonstrates in open-ended situations.

Novices often struggle to represent problems mentally; the unfamiliar process can exhaust their cognitive resources, creating frustration that deters them from learning. By improving novices' mental representation of problems, worked examples improve both problem-solving skills and transfer performance. Programming requires both skills. In programming, it is not sufficient to simply understand how Stackoverflow examples work; programmers have to be able to adapt the principles and apply them to their own programs. this paper shows evidence in support of the theory that worked examples are the most efficient mode of instruction for novices. In the present study, 42 students were asked to solve the tutorial the Magic Word, a game especially for girls created with the Catrobat programming environment. While the experimental group was presented with a series of worked examples of code, the control groups were instructed through theoretical text examples. the final task was a transfer question. While the average score was not significantly better in the worked example condition, the fact that participants in this experimental group finished significantly faster than the control group suggests that their overall performance was better than that of their counterparts.

Target detection technology is vital in modern social management and urban security, with small target detection— accurately identifying tiny objects in large scenes—posing a key challenge for improving surveillance system accuracy and real-time performance. the YOLO series is still the mainstream target detection model, for the YOLOv5 model, as the IoU metric it adopts still uses the geometrical overlap of the detection frame as the basis of the loss calculation, while the experiments have proved that this metric is unable to effectively utilize the small-scale characteristics of small targets. therefore, improving the loss metric in the existing framework can help the model to pay more attention to the spatial semantic features of small targets in the image in the training phase of the network, respectively, and thus improve the detection effect. In this paper, we propose the NWD-YOLOv5 model, i.e., we introduce the NWD loss that measures the difference in the distribution of the detection frames for the existing target detection framework YOLOv5, which ensures that the loss of the small targets is not neglected in the calculation of the forward propagation loss of the model, and we purposefully modify the structure of the feature extraction network in the original framework by adding a feature extraction layer for the detection of the small targets, which enhances the ability of the model to capture the subtle features thus improving the accuracy of small target detection. through comparative experiments, we evaluated the detection performance of the original YOLOv5 model, the YOLOv5 model using only the NWD loss, the YOLOv5 model with only the additional small-target detection layer, and the full NWD-YOLOv5 model for small-targeted human bodies on the screened COCO2017 public dataset, respectively. the experimental results show that compared to the original YOLOv5 model, the model with only the NWD loss improves the mAP@.5 metrics on small-target detection by 16

the Electronic-Based Government System is an Indonesian government framework utilizing technology to improve governance, public services, and community participation, aiming for transparency and accountability. However, the Indonesian e-government faces complex challenges like balancing service provision, information security, integration, e-readiness, unemployment, data interchange regulation, and plastic waste management. Previous studies struggled to overcome the e-government problem, evaluating maturity, capabilities, implementation gap, and developing strategies for ICT HR competencies, but still no satisfactory result. this study aims at two things: (1) to develop an e-Government Service Management System (e-GovService) using DevOps, (2) to identify challenges and critical factors for the development of e-Government Service Management with a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach. Limited research has been explored on the e-Government Service Management System in Indonesia and the benefits of DevOps in the e-Government development process, which combines traditional software engineering roles and improves communication, automation, continuous feedback, and collaboration. the results of this research are e-government challenges and critical factors that influence the e-government's successful implementation. this research contributes significantly to identifying e-Government challenges with MCDM.
