In this paper, we evaluate message-passing applications in grid environments using domain decomposition technique. We compare two domain decomposition strategies: a balanced and unbalanced one. the balanced strategy is commonly strategy used in homogenous computing environment. this strategy presents some problems related with the larger communication latency in grid environments. We propose an unbalanced domain decomposition strategy in order to overlap communication latency with useful computation. this idea consists in assigning less workload to processors responsible for sending updates outside the host. We compare the results obtained with the classical balanced strategy. We show that the unbalanced distribution pattern improves the execution times of domain decomposition applications in grid environments. We considered two kinds of meshes, which define the most typical cases. We show that the expected execution time can be reduced up to 53%. We also analyze the influence of the communication patterns on execution times using the Dimemas simulator. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

the co-allocation architecture was developed in order to enable parallel downloads of datasets from multiple servers. Several co-allocation strategies have been coupled and used to exploit rate differences among various client-server links and to address dynamic rate fluctuations by dividing files into multiple blocks of equal sizes. However, a major obstacle, the idle time of faster servers having to wait for the slowest server to deliver the final block, makes it important to reduce differences in finish time among replica servers. In this paper, we propose a dynamic co-allocation scheme, namely Recursive-Adjustment Co-Allocation scheme, to improve the performance of data transfer in Data grids. Our approach reduces the idle time spent waiting for the slowest server and decreases data transfer completion time. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

Deploying wireless objects or devices is a fundamental basis for many network-based applications. the objects could be smart meters in a smart gird, sensors or actuators in a WSN, or IoT things. After the physical deployment of those devices, a network address allocation becomes another essential procedure to enable network communications among the devices for device controls or message delivery purposes. this paper gives a review on several notable address assignment mechanisms by describing the key technique of each of these proposed approaches. the advantages as well as weaknesses are also introduced and a brief comparison is also given in this paper. the review provides a valuable reference in making further improvement of distributed address allocations and a meaningful reference for the relevant applications in the topics of smart grid, sensor networks, and Internet of things. © 2021, the Editor(s) (if applicable) and the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the gradual entry of 5G communication technology into the commercial stage, the era of the Internet of thing is coming, bringing great convenience to people’s lives. However, there are potential threats to security audit data interaction in the IoT environment. Traditional network intrusion detection methods cannot meet the requirements of parallel processing of massive data. therefore, network intrusion detection should consider parallelizing data processing and predicting abnormal behavior ahead. In this paper, we propose a large-scale parallel network intrusion detection method based on k-means. Firstly, the Isolation Forest algorithm is used to filter and segment the sample data;Secondly, the clusters is obtained by the k-means algorithm in a distributed manner;Finally, the generated cluster is weighted and voted for abnormality determination. the experimental results of KDDCUP dataset shows that the algorithm improves the recognition accuracy and speeds up the training time and prediction time compared with the traditional k-means algorithm. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

the global arrays toolkit is a library that allows programmers to write parallel programs that use large arrays distributed across processing nodes through the aggregate remote memory copy interface (ARMCI). In this study, we have further our investigation on the performance of a parallel application implemented with the global arrays toolkit on homogeneous grid computing environments. Two types of the homogeneous grid computing environments have been examined in this study. In order to fully take advantage of the global arrays toolkit, the topology-aware and multi-level parallelism have been also implemented in the evaluating application. We have found that the current implementation of the evaluating application outperform both MPICH-G2 and a typical global arrays implementations in all studied cases.

this paper discusses the performance of a parallel matrix multiplication routine (PDGEMM) that uses the 2.5D algorithm, which is a communication-reducing algorithm, on a cluster based on the Xeon Phi 7200-series (codenamed Knights Landing), Oakforest-PACS. Although the algorithm required a 2.5D matrix distribution instead of the conventional 2D distribution, it performed computations of 2D distributed matrices on a 2D process grid by redistributing the matrices (2D-compatible 2.5D-PDGEMM). Our use of up to 8192 nodes (8192 Xeon Phi processors) demonstrates that in terms of strong scaling, our implementation performs better than conventional 2D implementations.

the power system is of great significance to the normal production of society and the daily life of the people, so regular inspection of transmission lines is essential. However, transmission lines are usually exposed to the outdoors, and the surrounding terrain and environment are complex, which may lead to problems such as structural aging and mechanical strength reduction, which in turn may lead to large area power outages and cause huge economic losses. In this paper, a two-channel feature fusion classification method is proposed to address the transmission line image classification problem. Using a two-channel parallel network structure, a neural network model is constructed to fuse the overall and local feature information, and then determine whether there are defects in the transmission line images. the experimental results show that the classification accuracy of the two-channel parallel convolutional neural network based on ResNet32 is 82.24% and 77.87% for the bird’s nest defect and insulator burst defect, respectively, on the actual transmission line image dataset, which exceeds the classification accuracy of other CNN models. this indicates that the classification accuracy can be effectively improved by fusing feature information. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the HLA-based distributed simulation has neither mechanisms for managing execution according to the dynamically changing conditions of computing resources nor implementation with dynamical discovery. grid computing is designed to coordinate resources that are not subject to centralized control. Firstly, we present an architecture of distributed Interactive Simulation on grid (DISG) which supports execution of HLA-based parallel and Advanced distributed Simulation on the grid computing Environment. the architecture aims at the technology for constructing distributed interactive simulation on grid computing Environment (GCE), partitions the base components of DISG, designates the base function and purpose, describes the interrelation and emphasizes the efficient execution mechanism of large-scale distributed simulation system on the GCE. Secondly, we give a prototype to validate the feasibility and examine the performance of the key techniques of DISG Finally, we present an operational platform, called GlobeSimgrid, by which we demonstrate how ontologies and grid techniques can be integrated together to provide a semantic-heterogeneity solution which, in a certain degree, address the challenge of large-scale distributed simulation system integration.
