the current velocity planning strategy (VPS) for autonomous vehicles (AVs) mainly focus on improving travel economy of the vehicle, while the individual preferences of different passenger groups and their interference and impact on the velocity planning strategy are ignored. A personalized velocity planning strategy is proposed in this paper, which takes into account the passengers' personalized preferences for travel efficiency, ride comfort, and travel economy. Firstly, based on the NGSIM dataset, a quantitative analysis of the velocity, maximum acceptable acceleration and time headway preferred by different groups of drivers is performed. then, based on the dynamic programming (DP) algorithm, the vehicle velocity planning strategy is designed with consideration of passengers' preferred speed, terrain slope, as well as road restrictions such as: intersection traffic lights, and cruising speed limit, etc. Finally, the bisection method is deployed to solve the optimal coefficients for the target speeds of different passengers. Simulation results show that the proposed velocity planning strategy can help diverse passengers to plan personalized economic trajectories. © 2022 IEEE.

this paper presents a novel trajectory optimization method for the 6-degrees-of-freedom powered landing problem in aerospace guidance and control. the method combines machine learning and convex optimization to achieve real-Time performance. Specifically, we formulate the powered landing problem as an optimal control problem and transform it into a convex optimization problem. To enhance the state-of-the-art sequential convex programming (SCP) algorithm, we use a deep neural network as an initial trajectory generator to provide a satisfactory initial guess for the SCP algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves precise guidance of the vehicle to the landing site. Monte Carlo tests demonstrate that it can save an average of 40.8% of the computation time compared to the SCP method. therefore, the proposed scheme is suitable for real-Time applications in the aerospace industry. © 2023 IEEE.

this paper aims at the optimal siting and sizing of distributed generation (DG) units in radial power distribution systems. the objective function to be minimized is real power losses of power distribution grids. the considered constraints encompass the power flow equations, voltage magnitude bounds, the number of buses selected to place DG units, active power limits of each DG and branch power flow confinements. this original optimization formulation is an intricate mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model. this MINLP model is recast into mixed-integer quadratic programming (MIQP) formulation by exploiting the modified DistFlow method and exact linearization of the product of a real and binary variable, which can be easily solved with commercial solver CPLEX under GAMS software. the modified DistFlow in which the active and reactive powers are taken the place of their ratios to voltage magnitude as state variables is a cold-start linear branch power flow model. An IEEE 33-node system and a realistic distribution network are employed to study the effects of DG units on active power loss and voltage magnitudes using the proposed model. Calculated results reveal that optimally locating and sizing of DG units make a substantial contribution to decreasing power loss and improving the voltage profile in radial distribution systems. © 2022 IEEE.

Aluminum production requires raw materials with fluctuating prices. the procurement of raw materials must be executed with the least possible cost, subject to demand fulfillment. Currently, the Indonesian aluminium producer aims to minimize procurement costs for the three primary raw materials: alumina, calcified petroleum cokes (CPC), and coal tar pitch (CTP) which are used to produce aluminum. this study conducted procurement planning by minimizing the purchasing value of the future price of raw materials, as well as ensuring the adequacy of raw materials to meet the needs of aluminium production. the product demand and raw materials price is obtained by time-series forecasting using the ARIMA method with predictors. the final results show the monthly procurement quantity for each raw material subject to the predicted demand. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2023.

Computational thinking (CT) is considered to be one of the core competencies of the 21st century, and many scholars have explored the feasibility of CT in different subjects. However, traditional programming languages have a certain degree of difficulty, and it is difficult for learners to learn and understand the structure and logic of syntax in this process. Visual programming language improves upon these conditions and constraints. Additionally, formative assessment (FA) has been shown to increase students’ motivation and interest in programming courses while improving their performance. therefore, the application of CT core competencies and visual programming formative assessment system (VPFAS) is proposed by this study. Also, we explore whether it can enhance learning performance of students in virtual programming. A total of 52 students were recruited in this 10-week experiment. the result shows that the experimental group significantly enhance their learning performance in virtual programming by applying the CT core competence and the VPFAS. this means that the experimental group can not only solve the program’s problems through the CT core competencies but also improve their knowledge of the program’s concepts and objects through the VPFAS. thus, this study confirms that applying CT and FA can enhance student learning performance in virtual programming. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the future of network development is inseparable from the advancement of data-driven capabilities. Effective and efficient data access is an integral part of future network applications. In the digital era, artificial intelligence meets traditional database, and they benefit from each other. artificial intelligence assisted database discover a new development idea, in which learned index is an important branch. Learned index not only occupy less storage space but also enhance query performance. However, opportunities always come with challenges, and dealing with increasing dimensions remains an arduous task for learned indexes. Moreover, current learned indexes suffer from the skewed data distribution. In this paper, we propose a new index structure named DENIMS that can avoid the influence of skewed data in muti-dimension. We adopt a data partition strategy based on clustering algorithms. We propose a new way of dimensionality reduction by means of coordinate converting, which can preserve original adjacency. And in each cluster data sorting according to polar coordinates, so advanced 1-dimension indexing techniques can be used. Range query and KNN query are executed depending on the predicted locations of the learned model. Extensive experiments on real-world and synthetic datasets demonstrate that DENIMS outperforms traditional indexes and state-of-the-art learned indexes when faced with skewed data. © 2024 IEEE.

the increase in the world's human population has led assembly lines to seek new solutions to meet increasing human needs and demands. At this point, Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 paradigms can create new solutions for assembly lines. Human-robot interactive designs are a revolutionary change for assembly lines especially. One of the crucial parts of this change is collaborative robots (cobots) that can share the same working environment with humans. Inspired by human-robot interactive designs, this paper investigates the balancing problem of an assembly line using human-cobot collaboration. Human, cobot, and gripper workstations are assigned to fulfill the assembly tasks. It also aims to build a cost-effective model by taking into account costs. A mixed integer linear programming model is developed for the problem, and an illustrative example is presented to understand the developed model better. this study shows how traditional assembly lines can be transformed into a cost-effective design without ignoring the costs when cobots with different abilities and appropriate grippers interact with humans, share the same working environment, and perform tasks within a given cycle time. © 2024 the Authors. Benefited from the direct yaw moment (DYC), distributed driving electric vehicle (DDEV) shows greater flexibility compared with centralized driving vehicle (CDV). Meanwhile, the additional DYC could also affect the stability of DDEV during handling limit. However, extensive stability control methods of DDEV still based on the traditional stability region of CDV, which evidently lead to the conservativeness of control. To this end, a novel analytical stability region of DDEV is estimated via sum of squares programming (SOSP) technique. For the convenience of algorithm application, a rational polynomial based DDEV model is established. the dynamic stability region of different parameters and states are estimated by SOSP. In addition, we also compare the stability regions of different vehicle models and analyze the effects of DYC. Finally, simulation tests are conducted to validate the accuracy of the estimation stability region. © 2022 IEEE.
