Limestone and slag blended concrete is an innovative concrete which belongs to the family of limestone calcined clay cement (LC3) concrete. Strength is an important property of structural concrete. this study shows artificial neural networks (ANN) and gene expression programming(GEP) models for predicting strength development of limestone and slag blended concrete. ANN model consists of an input layer, a hidden layer, and output layer. GEP model consists of the sum of three expression trees. the input parameters of ANN and GEP models are mixtures and ages. the output parameter is a strength. the correlation coefficients of ANN and GEP model are 0.99 and 0.98, respectively. Both ANN and GEP model can produce prediction results of the strength of ternary blended concrete reliably. © 2020 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

In recent years several hobbyists and research institutions have turned to ARM based cluster computers to meet their high performance computing needs. these systems are typically low cost, power efficient machines made of 4 or more nodes. However, current applications running on these machines are limited to the computational capabilities of the on-board CPUs. An attempt to fully utilise the available hardware is to use the on-board GPUs for general purpose computation. the challenge with this approach is the difficulty of programming for embedded ARM GPUs, which support a very limited programming interface such as OpenGL ES 2.0. In this paper, we present a system which allows a high level program to utilise multiple embedded ARM based GPUs in parallel to perform computation, without the application developer concerning themselves with the details of OpenGL and writing shaders. We describe the vector and matrix functions which we implement and provide results detailing their speedup. For matrix multiplication, our system shows a speedup of nearly 7X on the 8 nodes of the PHINEAS cluster computer. We further describe how these functions may be composited with some CPU functionality to implement inferencing for a Convolutional Neural Network trained in Keras on a different machine. Our benchmarks demonstrate that the system's performance scales well across several nodes for a variety of tasks. Our work brings the benefits of GPGPU computing to an as yet untouched class of cluster computers. © 2020 IEEE.

the symmetric intersection (SI) is a type of unconventional intersection that could increase capacity of the intersection. Although this type of intersection is promising, the bicycle crossing method has not been designed for SI, which prevents it from implementation. In this study, we propose three bicycle crossing designs for the purpose of eliminating the conflict between bicycles and vehicles, and optimize the corresponding signal timing. the first is to reverse the bicycle lane on the right-hand-traffic arterial, so that left-turning bicycles can pass at any time, which can reduce the flow of bicycles through the conflicting area of the intersection. the second is to use an advanced stop line, which moves the stop line backwards and sets up a bicycle waiting area in the front to reduce the conflict between bicycles and vehicles. the third is to set up an exclusive phase for bicycles to separate vehicles and bicycles. A linear programming model that maximizes the capacity of the intersection for vehicles considering constraints such as signal phase and cycle duration is established to calculate the signal timing. A case study is performed to determine the optimal signal timing of each condition. the results show that the scheme of advanced stop lines could reduce delays and increase capacity of the intersection for bicycles, but the capacity for vehicles is reduced, and thus should be used when the traffic demand of motor vehicles is not high. In the condition of high-throughput vehicles, the exclusive phase for bicycles perform better.

this paper considers a single-cell multi-user uplink massive MIMO system. In order to meet user quality of service requirements and decrease the channel estimation error, an optimal resource allocation algorithm of jointly the number of antennas of base station (BS), the number of pilot sequences, the transmit power and pilot power under maximization energy efficiency is proposed. In this paper, we simplify approximate expression of the lower bound of energy efficiency. Unlike conventional iterative algorithm for solving the optimal number of BS antennas, we derived a closed-form expression to solve the optimal number of BS antennas using Lambert W function. In addition, using fractional programming, according to the block coordinate descent (BCD) and Bisection algorithm, we proposed a nested loop iterative optimization algorithm to jointly optimize the pilot power, transmit power, and number of BS antennas in order to improve the system's energy efficiency. Simulation results show that the energy efficiency our proposed schemes is 7% higher than of other existing algorithm and can improve system performance. © 2020 IEEE.

Image enhancement is an image processing procedure in which the original information of the image is improved. It alters an image in several different ways, for instance, by highlighting a specific feature in order to ease post-processing analyses by a human or machine. In this work, we show our approach to image enhancement for digital real-estate-marketing. the aesthetic quality of the images for real-estate marketing is critical since it is the only input clients have once browsing for options. thus, improving and ensuring the aesthetic quality of the images is crucial for marketing success. the problem is that each set of images, even for the same real-estate item, is often taken under diverse conditions making it hard to find one solution that fits all. State of the art image enhancement pipelines applies a set of filters that solve specific issues, so it is still hard to generalise that solves all types of issues encountered. With this in mind, we propose a Genetic programming approach for the evolution of image enhancement pipelines, based on image filters from the literature. We report a set of experiments in image enhancement of real state images and analysed the results. the overall results suggest that it is possible to attain suitable pipelines that visually enhance the image and according to a set of image quality assessment metrics. the evolved pipelines show improvements across the validation metrics, showing that it is possible to create image enhancement pipelines automatically. Moreover, during the experiments, some of the created pipelines create non-photorealistic rendering effects in a moment of computational serendipity. thus, we further analysed the different evolved non-photorealistic solutions, showing the potential of applying the evolved pipelines in other types of images. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In IEEE 802.1Q with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) extension, the timing constraint is enforced by providing deterministic transmission policies when both Real-Time (RT) and Non-Real-Time (NRT) streams are transmitted. the transmission of non-preemptive NRT streams may, however, unexpectedly intrude into the next time slice of RT streams, thus jeopardizing RT streams' timing constraints. Guard bands are therefore introduced to prevent such negative influence by inserting a duration in front of every time slice that contains RT streams, but one major disadvantage is wasting bandwidth in resource-limited networks. Several methods have been proposed to reduce guard bands by aggregating time slices to tackle the above problem. However, there is still room for improvement in reduction. therefore, this paper proposes an optimized TSN scheduling synthesis for RT streams in IEEE Standard 802.1Qbv with a global perspective to efficiently reduce guard bands. We add a constraint to avoid creating extra guard bands during scheduling generation and an objective function to minimize the maximum number of guard bands. Due to the general constraints and objective function, our proposed method can also apply to streams with multiple periods. In the performance evaluation, we show that the proposed approach effectively reduces guard bands while achieving an average improvement of up to 38.6% against the state-of-the-art.

Electricity is a significant and essential player in the modern world economy. It translates into the social, economic, and sectorial growth of any region. the scarcity of these resources demands a highly efficient and robust energy management system (EMS). In the recent literature, many artificial intelligence algorithms have been proposed to cater to the need for efficient and real-time decision-making. Moreover, the hybridization of these algorithms has also been proposed for optimum decision-making. In this paper, a hybrid soft-computing-based framework has been proposed for intelligent energy management and optimization. the proposed model has based on the evolutionary neuro-fuzzy approach that can predict the energy demand as an objective function and optimize the energy within the given constraints. the future extension of this work will be the implementation and validation of the proposed framework on either a real application dataset or dataset opted from the benchmark repository

When the data scale is too large and the social network is incomplete, the traditional local optimization overlapping community discovery algorithms mostly rely too much on the structural characteristics of the social network and ignore the community node attributes. For this reason, in this paper, we propose a locally optimized overlapping community discovery algorithm that integrates attribute features. We first obtain several community core nodes by combining node attributes and structure information to improve the density peak fast search algorithm. After that, we use the structural fitness between core nodes and non-core nodes, community homogeneity, and community heterogeneity values to establish the objective function, and gradually discover the community where the core node is located according to the minimization of the objective function difference in the iterative process. Finally, we merge communities with a high degree of overlap to reduce redundant communities while improving the quality of community division. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the quality of locally optimized overlapping community discovery.

the ECG signal analysis and diagnosis algorithms have been studied for decades. there are some state of art algorithms that have been developed. In this paper, we proposed a compatible ECG automatic diagnosis Cloud Computing framework in order to integrate these exist algorithms. On the other hand, there are many studies regarding the IoT based health diagnosis system. But there are few of that aiming at the personal use health monitor and diagnose. Basing on our proposed framework, users can diagnose their heart health status by themselves conveniently anywhere and anytime through the mobile application. the ECG character automatic classification computing algorithm is compatible for Python and MATLAB by introducing the hybrid programming technic on the cloud computing side. So that, it is easy for researchers to integrate their developed algorithm into this framework to build an application quickly. We developed a prototype application as well to verify the availability of this framework. © 2020 ACM.
