Intel's 6th generation Core processor (code named Skylake or SKL) was designed to enable PC performance and user-experience at smaller and thinner form factors and enable fan-less PC platforms. It required optimization to an extremely low thermal design point (TDP). the lower average power consumption of SKL vs. the previous generation considerably increases the system battery life and allows full-day battery life or thinner designs with smaller batteries. the SKL product family is manufactured using an Intel 14nm tri-gate CMOS 11-metal-layer technology, as with the previous Core generation. Different dice include: 2 or 4 cores, a shared last-level cache (LLC, 1MB/core), a scalable graphic processor (GP) with 24, 48 or 72 execution units (EU), an image processing unit (IPU, supporting 4 cameras simultaneously), 2 channels of DDR3/LPDDR3/DDR4, a display engine (DE) and 3 display IO ports configurable to eDP, DP or HDMI. In mobile SKUs, the peripheral control hub (PCH) resides in the same package (MCP) as the CPU and communicates through an on-package IO (OPIO) bus. For desktop (DT), the PCH resides on the platform. Fig. 4.1.1 presents the SKL block diagram for the minimum configuration (2 cores, 24 EU GP, MCP). A key challenge was the need to add new capabilities, while reducing power, especially for some of the popular uses (media, casual gaming, speech recognition and advanced imaging). © 2016 IEEE.

the design of memory consistency models for both hardware and soft-ware is a difficult task. It is particularly difficult for a programming language because the target audience is much wider than the target audience for a machine language, making usability a more important criteria. Adding to this problem is the fact that the programming language community has little experience designing programming language consistency models, and therefore each new attempt is very much a voyage into uncharted territory. A concrete example of the difficulties of the task is the current Java Memory Model. Although designed to be easy to use by Java programmers, it is poorly understood and at least one common idiom (the "double check idiom") to exploit the model is unsafe. In this paper we describe the design of an optimizing Java compiler that will accept, as either input or as an interface implementation, a consistency model for the code to be compiled the compiler will use escape analysis, Shasha and Snir's delay set analysis, and our CSSA program representation to normalize the effects of different consistency models on optimizations and analysis. When completed, the compiler will serve as a testbed to prototype new memory models, and to measure the differences of different memory models on program performance.

Within the current combustor design process, the combustor performance and sizing is mainly estimated using Prelim Design Tools, which are based on empirical correlations. In order to investigate these preliminary designs in more detail, the application of CFD within the preliminary combustor design process has steadily increased. However, the generation of CFD solutions is a time consuming process, since it requires adapted CAD models and the generation of meshes before the actual CFD computations can be performed. Moreover, it has to be assured that the meshes are suitable for the computational code, which may require several iterations within the grid generation process. Next the manual setting of the boundary conditions for CFD is also prone to errors and the post-processing of the CFD results is generally time consuming. therefore, an advanced approach of an automated preliminary combustor design process has been developed within the 7th framework of the European research project IMPACT-AE, based on the knowledge obtained in the 6th framework of the European research project INTELLECT D.M. the processes developed are based on improved and robust knowledge-based-engineering tools for modern low NOx combustor geometries. the advanced approach comprises a KBE preliminary design tool with improved Rolls-Royce in-house design rules for modern low NOx high efficiency combustors. It is based on fully featured 3-D parametric combustor models, including the pre-diffuser;the injector;the flame tube and the casing parts. An unstructured automatable meshing-tool CFS BOXERMesh is used to generate high quality meshes. Subsequent CFD analyses are performed using an unstructured Rolls-Royce in-house combustion CFD code PRECISE-UNS and the post-processing is performed using the open source tool Para View. the choice of these tools is based on their ability to be fully automated using appropriate scripts and information. Roundness of circular and cylindrical parts can greatly affect assembly accuracy. It is essential to establish a proper method for evaluation roundness error to ensure achieving accurate assessment. According to the evaluation principle of roundness error and the uncertainty theory, a novel method for the uncertainty evaluation of roundness errors is proposed based on the new generation geometrical product specification (GPS). Under the condition of minimum zone, the mathematical model of roundness error and the optimal objective function were developed. Particle Swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm was used to search for the optimal solution of roundness error. the uncertainties of each of coefficients which influenced the roundness error and of transfer coefficient were calculated in order to get the uncertainty of roundness error. the evaluation results accord with requirements of new generation GPS standard and indicate that this method can assure the integrity and veracity of evaluation.

In this paper we discuss an elaborate case study utilizing the domain-specific development of code generators within the Cinco meta tooling suite. Cinco is a framework that allows for the automatic generation of a wide range of graphical modeling tools from an abstract high-level specification. the presented case study makes use of Cinco to rapidly construct custom graphical interfaces for multi-faceted, concurrent systems, comprising non-functional properties like time, probability, data, and costs. the point of this approach is to provide user communities and their favorite tools with graphical interfaces tailored to their specific needs. this will be illustrated by generating graphical interfaces for timed automata (TA), probabilistic timed automata (PTA), Markov decision processes (MDP) and simple labeled transition systems (LTS). the main contribution of the presented work, however, is the metamodel-based domain-specific construction of the corresponding code generators for the verification tools Uppaal, Spin, PLASMA-lab, and Prism.

the development of a high performance PDE solver requires the combined expertise of interdisciplinary teams with respect to application domain, numerical scheme and low-level optimization. In this paper, we present how the ExaHyPE engine facilitates the collaboration of such teams by isolating three roles: application, algorithms, and optimization expert. We thus support team members in letting them focus on their own area of expertise while integrating their contributions into an HPC production code. Inspired by web application development practices, ExaHyPE relies on two custom code generation modules, the Toolkit and the Kernel Generator, which follow a Model-View-Controller architectural pattern on top of the Jinja2 template engine library. Using Jinja2’s templates to abstract the critical components of the engine and generated glue code, we isolate the application development from the engine. the template language also allows us to define and use custom template macros that isolate low-level optimizations from the numerical scheme described in the templates. We present three use cases, each focusing on one of our user roles, showcasing how the design of the code generation modules allows to easily expand the solver schemes to support novel demands from applications, to add optimized algorithmic schemes (with reduced memory footprint, e.g.), or provide improved low-level SIMD vectorization support. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With a large number of non-linear loads are integrated into the electric grids, they cause the significant power quality problems;meanwhile, harmonic is one of the problems that be paid more concerns, and it is necessary to seek useful ways for suppressions. Nowadays, solar PV power generations become one of the main streams among various renewable energy. Under the applicable control design, PV power not only can provide general power generation but also can used for power quality improvement. this paper thus mainly focuses on the study of harmonic suppression on low-voltage system by three-phase three-wire PV-APF system. For the proposed PV-APF system, it consists of: dual second order generalized integrator-phase-locked loop design for exact harmonic detection, self-tuning synchronous reference frame method for the calculation of harmonic compensation currents, a multi-mode strategy for the PV-APF to operate in different modes, and a bat-optimization PI controller for the better PV-APF control. MATLAB/Simulink is used for modeling and testing in this paper. Performance of proposed PV-APF design is finally be well validated by different load scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

In the 3rd generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Time Division CDMA (TD-CDMA) has been selected as the air interface for the TDD (Time Division Duplexing) bands of 3rd generation (3G) mobile radio systems . In the case of TDD the same channel impulse responses are valid for both the uplink and the downlink. In state-of-the-art TD-CDMA characterized by joint data detection (JD) this equality cannot be exploited for enhancing system performance and reducing system complexity. In the paper a novel TD-CDMA downlink transmission scheme is proposed. this scheme is termed joint transmission (JT). It utilizes the knowledge of the channel impulse responses gained by channel estimation at the base station in such a way that channel estimators are no longer required at the mobile stations and the computational expense of data detection is dramatically reduced. the scheme easily lends itself to the utilization of multi-element transmit antennas. Further, its application is not restricted to systems of the type TD-CDMA.

this paper addresses the time-and information-intensive task of calibrating an electric power steering assistance system, which is optimised for energy efficiency and can be adapted to different vehicle variants. Hereby, the focus is on determining the customer-perceived properties steering feeling, energy consumption, system price and market availability date. It will be demonstrated how this aim can be achieved with a reduced testing scope by automated generation of behaviour models that predict the system behaviour in the defined parameter range. In order to fulfil this task, the Semantic Validation Platform (SVP) is used. the SVP is an ontology-grounded expert collaboration system, designed to manage and support automotive development processes, in particular the validation and testing tasks. In combination with the intelligent test automation software AVL CAMEO and the virtual testing environment IPG CarMaker, the applied tool chain provides an environment that instructs the engineer step-by-step to plan the necessary tests, design and execute the tests automatically and generate behaviour models within the relevant context in order to make the right decisions. In each step, all relevant generated knowledge will be automatically documented in a sustainable way by the SVP, making it easily accessible and usable for future projects.

Analytics database dbX is a cloud agnostic, MPP SQL product with both DSM and NSM stores. One of the techniques for better micro optimization of SQL query processing is runtime code generation and JIT compilation. We propose a RTCG model that is both query aware and hardware conscious extending analytics SQL query processing to a high degree of intra-query parallelism. Our approach to RTCG, at system level targets to maximize benefits from modern hardware, and at use level focuses on typical, industry type SQL, somewhat different from standard benchmarks. We describe the model, highlighting its novel aspects, techniques implemented and product engineering decisions in dbX. To evaluate the efficacy of the RTCG model, we perform experiments on desktop and cloud clusters, with standard and synthetic benchmarks, on data that is more commensurate in size with industry applications. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2018.
