Because of climate change and global warming, the demand for renewable energy grows continually. Among the renewable energy sources, solar power is the most common type due to its low construction cost and easy parallel connection with existing power grids. the power company can not only dispatch power but obtain better electricity price contracts by forecasting the power generation of photovoltaic panels. In the past, many studies have focused on the research of solar power generation, from statistical regression to mathematical planning models to heuristic meta methods and evolutionary algorithms. Recently, there are more and more literatures using machine learning to establish power generation forecasting models and even the deep learning model of artificial intelligence. However, research on hyperparameter optimization to make ensemble learning algorithms perform better is still scarce. this paper attempts to optimize the hyperparameters in the modeling process of ensemble learning with evolutionary algorithms and construct more accurate solar power prediction models. Gradient boosting regressor is employed as ensemble learning models where the hyperparameters are optimized by differential evolution, Jaya algorithm, particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithm for comparison. the data is based on practical data and weather forecasting data of solar power plants in central Taiwan. the computational results reveal that differential evolution outperforms to explore the optimal hyperparameter combination of the prediction model for solar power generation. © 2023 IEEE.

Capillary electrophoresis (CE) using hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HP-beta-CD) in the separation buffer was investigated to determine the overall chiral purity of a drug containing a single stereogenic center. the effects of primary factors -pH, buffer components, buffer concentration, cyclodextrin concentration and sample amount (concentration and injection volume)- on the resolution of the enantiomers were investigated. Secondary factors such as the HP-beta-CD source, lot and degree of substitution that were expected to affect the robustness of the assay were investigated also. the linearity, quantitation limit for the trace enantiomer and the precision of the measurements were determined. this study shows that understanding and optimizing the assay conditions leads to a chiral CE separation that is comparable to that obtained by chiral HPLC. However, chiral CE separations achieved with buffer additives have the advantages of shorter run times, higher numbers of theoretical plates (greater resolution), smaller amounts of chiral additive (less cost) and greater ruggedness (separation virtually independent of column properties unlike HPLC).

Most modern processors have some cache memories that are much faster than a main memory, and it is important to utilize them effectively for efficient program execution. the cache memories function well if temporal or spatial localities in the program are enhanced. therefore, the cache efficiency can be improved by making accesses to the same array continuous. In addition, a multidimensional array can be regarded as an array of lower dimensional arrays, which means that it is more effective to continuously aggregate the array references with same indexes more in the highest dimensions, even if they are not completely same. We propose a new cache optimization technique for improving cache efficiency based on global code motion. Our technique moves a load instruction to immediately after the preceding load instructions accessing the same array with the most similar indexes, and then delays it as late as possible without changing the access order. these two-step code motions contribute to not only the improvement of the cache efficiency in the entire program but also the suppression of register pressure. We have implemented our technique in a real compiler and have evaluated it for SPEC benchmarks. the experimental results show that our technique can decrease cache misses by about 99.9% in the best case.

the ever-increasing transistor integration density has allowed to design complex and powerful system-on-chips (SoC). As a consequence, the power density also increased significantly in the SoC, as well as, the accompanying heat. these two results have a negative impact on the performance of the SoC. thermal dissipation and power-density are important factors that may degrade significantly the reliability and the lifetime of the SoC. these aspects will limit the next generation embedded system performances. Traditionally, thermal problems are solved by employing on advanced packaging and cooling solutions. But the modern high-performance SoC is already pushing the limits of what the cooling solutions can offer. By opposition to the existing approaches, in this paper, thermal dissipation is controlled at the source code level. the different compilation optimizations are explored to find the best performance/thermal dissipation tradeoffs.

To increase acceptance for humanoids in everyday situations, it is essential that motions of humanoid robots become more human-like. A proper approach to achieve this requirement is introduced by adopting marker-based human motion capture. In order to efficiently re-use or analyze captured movements on various robots, an intermediate model, named Master Motor Map (MMM), is proposed which decouples representation of motion from its execution on a real robot. Moreover, we present a constrained nonlinear optimization to adapt pre-captured motions to our robot Armar-III preserving necessary motion characteristics and preventing the robot from approaching specific limitations.

this article describes an integrated approach for the handling and modeling of knowledge for assembly processes in an automated production environment. High-level information on the process provided by the user needs to be transferred into executable code. this is informal information and might be even available in natural language. With the help of several information sources like CAD or sensor data, device and skill descriptions, planning algorithms, process knowledge and finally domain knowledge the Knowledge Integration Framework derives a formal application description. therefore, the user input is parsed and analyzed with all the relevant knowledge made available in a formal representation beforehand. With the help of computer-based reasoning and inference algorithms the input is evaluated and enhancements for missing information are requested from the user. the core part of the implementation is to capture and to enable access to the available knowledge. Without a proper representation of all process and operation details the Knowledge Integration Framework cannot perform this challenging work. the formal application description is fed into the code generator where device-specific code together with the execution sequence is created. On runtime these executable programs - after deployment to the physical devices - are iteratively readapted taking strategies for safety and error recovery into account. this work promises a strong potential for realizing future robot installations in a robust and efficient way, taking into account a dynamic environment and human robot cooperation with respect to safe task execution and human injury prevention.

K-scope is a source code analysis tool with a graphical user interface for the performance tuning of Fortran programs. With K-scope, developers are able to visually understand the structures of their Fortran programs and estimate their performance. However, the original version of K-scope has two problems. First, it lacks the ability to integrate the results of source code analysis with performance profiling data. Second, it requires developers to install XcalableMP because K-scope utilizes the front-end of the XcalableMP compiler. However it is difficult to set up the XcalableMP environment because this requires installing and configuring several libraries and applications. A binary package of XcalableMP is only available for major Linux distributions, and developers thus have a hard time installing XcalableMP on other environments, e.g., Windows. In order to address these two problems, we extend K-scope with two mechanisms. the first visualizes performance profiling data and the second offloads the parsing of Fortran programs to a remote server. More specifically, the visualization mechanism enables users to readily identify performance bottlenecks in their programs by mapping performance profiling data to each line of the source code. With the offloading mechanism, developers no longer need to install XcalableMP. Instead, they can connect K-scope to a remote server on which XcalableMP is installed, and which generates the intermediate code used for analysis. For this purpose, we develop a tool named SSHconnect. To verify the effectiveness of our extended K-scope, we analyze the Nonhydrostatic Icosahedral Atmospheric Model (NICAM) code, an application for global climate simulation that consists of about 300,000 lines of Fortran code. We found that K-scope successfully identified performance bottlenecks in the NICAM code and translated the source code for several applications using its remote parsing mechanism.

Aiming at the optimization problem of shortest time limit resource leveling, the paper first introduces Evolutionary Programming (EP) to solve it, and a new modified method based on evolutionary programming is proposed: the mutation operator of EP is improved by using the theory of Simulated An-nealing (SA), and without using repair operator. then use Genetic Algorithm (GA), EP and the modified EP to solve this problem, the experimental results indicate that EP can optimize this problem effectively, and EP has better opti-mization performance than GA. the average evolution generation decreased significantly in the modified EP to approach the optimal solution, the variance after optimization decreases 42.64%.
