In a vast range of domains, decision makers have taken advantages of the benefits of the contextual-Graph (CxG) formalism for representing the way(s) an actor(s) executes a real-world task. For this purpose, the CxG software formalism provides actors with edition tools that help them create and explore contextual graphs in an intuitive manner. However, the modeling of group interaction requires the introduction of new elements for managing each actor's intervention. In this paper, we incorporate simulation functionalities to the CxG software. the simulation of a task execution relies heavily on the concept of working context, which corresponds to the contextual elements existing in a CxG, their value, and their instantiations taken during the simulation, as well as the instantiation of the simulation parameters for managing the turn mechanism.

the Internet of thing allows objects and services to interact with each other. the goal of this study is to recognize high level states of the rooms and more generally of the home. We want to be able to obtain intermediate states like "someone is in the kitchen" or "night mode". In the specific case of home activity and state measurement, we consider that a set of furniture units is especially suitable for providing low level information. Recognizing and identifying house states or other high level information can be done using several methods. In this paper, we present an ontology based method. In the following, a situation is considered to be realized when the hypothesis which represents it are fulfilled. using this approach, we show that multiple instances of situation context are distinguishable.

the importance of system-level context-and situation awareness increases with the growth of the Internet of things (IoT). this paper proposes an integrated approach to situation awareness by providing a semantically rich situation model together with reliable situation inference based on context Spaces theory (CST) and Situation theory (ST). the paper discusses benefits of integrating the proposed situation awareness framework with knowledge base and efficient reasoning techniques taking into account uncertainty and incomplete knowledge about situations. the paper discusses advantages and impact of proposed context adaptation in dynamic IoT environments. Practical issues of two-way mapping between IoT messaging standards and CST are also discussed.

Test engineers log bugs in a defect tracking system to different actors. For instance, in the case of database defects, after the first cycle of bug tracking is completed, the system will notify the Database Administrator (DBA). the DBA can log in to the system and get the bug list with priority. He can then solve the bug and change its status in the system. there are many ways of applying defect tracking by different actors because they do not have the same viewpoints about the contexts related to the management of the defects. Actors need to devote their efforts to develop new practices and use past expert experience in order to create an effective strategy to maintain applications. the paper presents how to contextualize defect tracking based on different expert viewpoints. We show how making shared context explicit can help to improve resolving defects and avoid conflicts between experts having distinct viewpoints.

this paper aims to vindicate the adequacy and usefulness of the notion of derived context (Stalnaker 1988), by showing how it helps to successfully account for phenomena that lay beyond the data that motivated Stalnaker to first introduce the notion. We will focus on phenomena related to Binding theory (BT) principles (B) and (C) (Chomsky 1981, 1993). these principles account for an impressive array of data. they are subject, though, to well known counterexamples. As part of a more general attempt to defend standard BT, this paper will focus on one specific kind of counterexamples to the BT (some of which have not yet been considered in the literature), and will show how they can be successfully accounted for without any substantive departure from standard BT. All is needed is (1) to take the semantic restriction placed by the Binding Principles to be not that of co-reference (or co-valuation) but rather that of presupposed co-reference (or presupposed co-valuation) (as in Heim 1993), and (2) to appeal in the appropriate way to the existence of derived contexts.

the mathematical formalism of quantum theory exhibits significant effectiveness when applied to cognitive phenomena that have resisted traditional (set theoretical) modeling. Relying on a decade of research on the operational foundations of micro-physical and conceptual entities, we present a theoretical framework for the representation of concepts and their conjunctions and disjunctions that uses the quantum formalism. this framework provides a unified solution to the 'conceptual combinations problem' of cognitive psychology, explaining the observed deviations from classical (Boolean, fuzzy set and Kolmogorovian) structures in terms of genuine quantum effects. In particular, natural concepts 'interfere' when they combine to form more complex conceptual entities, and they also exhibit a 'quantum-type context-dependence', which are responsible of the 'over- and under-extension' that are systematically observed in experiments on membership judgments.

Various traffic big data has been emerging in cities, such as road networks, GPS trajectories of buses and taxicabs, traffic flows, accidents, etc. Based on the massive traffic accident data from January to December 2015 in Xiamen, China, we propose a novel accident 0analytics and visualization method in both spatial and temporal dimensions to predict when and where an accident with a specific crash type will occur consequentially by whom. First, we analyze and visualize accident occurrences and key features in both temporal and spatial view. Second, we propose our context-aware methodology. Finally, we illustrate spatio-temporal visualization results through two case studies. these findings would not only help traffic police department implement instant personnel assignments among simultaneous accidents, but also inform individual drivers about accident-prone sections and most dangerous time spans, which would require their most attention.

Motor skill learning is an area where wearable technology and user modelling can be synergistically combined for providing support. In this paper, we explore how a simple accelerometer sensor can be used to capture motion data associated with critical aspects of learning in the context of social dancing. We developed a prototype mobile app that tracks students' motion data whilst they practise dance exercises. this paper describes a set of features, such as rhythm duration, consistency and body motion, which can be automatically tracked and included into a dance student model. these dancing features can be presented back to the students as feedback, in the form of i) summaries, ii) visualisations or iii) narratives. We illustrate the feasibility and potential of modelling these features through a study with beginner students taking dance classes during three weeks.

LEMA (Learning Environment for modeling Abilities) is an ICT based tool developed in order to promote students' modeling abilities such as developing explanations of phenomena based on microscopic models, predicting the outcome of new phenomena and revising explanations in the light of experimental evidence. It is developed for the context of self study. In a prior study, we have reported that students learning with LEMA showed statistically significant difference in their learning outcomes on a modeling ability based test than the control group. While we know that LEMA helped develop students modeling skills, the prior study did not address how it helped or why. In order to gain insight into this, in this study we investigate the different paths that different learners take as they interact with LEMA. using screen capture logs of students' interaction with LEMA, we characterize the difference in behavior between students who score low and students who score high in a modeling based post test. We find that in spite of the fact that the total time spent by all students while interacting with LEMA is the same, the duration of time spent on each feature of LEMA and the action taken within, varies for high and low scorers
