In order to avoid the serious loss caused by the fire, to achieve the initial fire alarm, multi-sensor system is widely used in fire prediction. In the processing method, it is essentially different from the traditional classical signal. the multi-sensor information fusion system can be merged at different levels. It can be abstracted distributed into three levels: information fusion layer, feature fusion layer, decision fusion layer. Aiming at the problem of feature fusion layer, a method based on OS-ELM is proposed. Studies have shown that, compared with BP Neural Network and ELM, OS-ELM have a better overall performance on time and accuracy, which more suitable for use in fire prediction system.

We propose an unsupervised approach for virus detection with a biosensor based on surface plasmon resonance. A column-based non-negative matrix factorisation (NNCX) serves to select virus candidate time series from the spatio-temporal data. the candidates are then separated into true virus adhesions and false positive NNCX responses by fitting a constrained virus model function. In the evaluation on ground truth data, our unsupervised approach compares favourably to a previously published supervised approach that requires more parameters.

Power-requirements of a wireless wearable sensor for quantification of asthmatic wheezing in respiratory sounds, a typical symptom of chronic asthma, are analysed. Two converse sensor architectures are compared. One featuring processing-intensive on-board respiratory sound classification, and the other performing communication-intensive signal streaming, employing compressive sensing (CS) encoding for data-rate reduction, with signal reconstruction and classification performed on the peer mobile device. It is shown that lower total sensor power, ranging from 216 to 357 mu W, may be obtained on the sensor streaming the CS encoded signal, operating at the compression rate higher than 2x. Total power-budget of 328 to 428 mu W is shown required in the architecture with on-board processing.

the turbine engine blade tip clearance measurement is very important for improving engine performance. Engine rotor blade radial clearance control is the important link of improving the pneumatic performance and efficiency of the engine. Measurement precision of traditional tip clearance measurement sensor is limited. Based on resonant cavity theory, this paper designed a new type of microwave blade tip clearance sensor working in 15 GHZ. the sensor can realize the resonant frequency associated with tip clearance and convert tip clearance measurement to resonant frequency measurement to improve the measurement precision. On the basis of theoretical analysis, this paper modeled and simulated using HFSS. the simulation results show that the sensor has simple structure, good performance, elevates obviously the measure precision compared with the traditional microwave sensor and meets the demand of high precision measurement. © 2017 IEEE.

Underwater acoustic source localization has attracted wide interests, and the source depth estimation is more difficult than that of source range and bearing. the performance of Matched Field processing (MFP) degrades greatly under environment parameter mismatches, which makes it limited in practice. Varieties of robust methods have been proposed to relieve the mismatch problems. T. C. Yang proposed a depth estimation for a moving CW source with a single pressure sensor [1], by which little information is required. this paper extends this method to a single vector sensor. this paper starts from the particle velocity expressions in normal-mode method to derive Green's functions for horizontal and vertical particle velocity respectively, and theoretically analyze the characteristics of the Green's functions, then give proper objective functions to estimate the source depth. Numerical simulations validate the proposed method, and show that joint signal processing of the pressure and the vertical particle velocity improves the performance under inexact SSP. © 2017 IEEE.

Multispectral images captured with a single sensor camera have become an attractive alternative for numerous computer vision applications. However, in order to fully exploit their potentials, the color restoration problem (RGB representation) should be addressed. this problem is more evident in outdoor scenarios containing vegetation, living beings, or specular materials. the problem of color distortion emerges from the sensitivity of sensors due to the overlap of visible and near infrared spectral bands. this paper empirically evaluates the variability of the near infrared (NIR) information with respect to the changes of light throughout the day. A tiny neural network is proposed to restore the RGB color representation from the given RGBN (Red, Green, Blue, NIR) images. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm, different experiments on a RGBN outdoor dataset are conducted, which include various challenging cases. the obtained result shows the challenge and the importance of addressing color restoration in single sensor multispectral images.

Recently, artificial tactile sensors have been studied in attempts to mimic the human sense of touch for various applications, from the simple input function of mobile devices to the complicated finger systems of android robots. To produce artificial psychological feeling, especially 'pain', electrical mimic structure of human skin has been studied. Array type tactile sensor can verify the input object which may be sharp, blunt, and hot or cool by simple signal processing. this capability means that tactile sensor can convey psychological feeling from physical parameters. Imitating this phenomenon, the skin mimic device employing the piezoelectric nanowire sensor arrays can generate the electrical 'pain' signal with signal processing when a sharp or a hot object touch to the device. the electrical 'pain' signal is expected to enhance the protection mechanism of android robot or mobile phone from harsh environment. © 2017 IEEE.

Detecting the diffusion boundary of toxic gas is an important research issue in petrochemical plants. there have been many research efforts on this issue. However, detecting an accurate absolute boundary is still less likely to be achieved, because of the extreme environmental sensitivity and easy diffusion characteristic of the toxic gas. therefore, it is more practical to detect a boundary area instead of an absolute boundary. In this paper, we analyze the impact of four planarized proximity graphs on the accuracy of detecting the boundary area, based on a boundary detection algorithm. By extensive experiments and analyses, we obtain three important observations to understand the different performance of four graphs on different detection scenarios (e.g., different numbers of sensor nodes and different radii of toxic gas leakage). Moreover, we learn the factors that influence the accuracy of boundary area detection. the learning results can be used to direct the strategy design of boundary area detection.

Absolute optical encoder as a product of optical, mechanical and electronic integration has been widely used in displacement measuring fields. However, how to improve the measurement velocity and reduce the manufacturing cost of absolute optical encoder is the key problem to be solved. To improve the measurement speed, a novel absolute optical encoder image acquisition system is proposed. the proposed acquisition system includes a linear CCD sensor is applied for capturing coding pattern images, an optical magnifying system is used for enlarging the grating stripes, an analog- digital conversion( ADC) module is used for processing the CCD analogy signal, a field programmable gate array( FPGA) device and other peripherals perform driving task. An absolute position measurement experiment was set up to verify and evaluate the proposed image acquisition system. the experimental result indicates that the proposed absolute optical encoder image acquisition system has the image acquisition speed of more than 9500fp/ s with well reliability and lower manufacture cost.
