Aviation encompasses a wide range of mechanical flights as well as the aircraft business. the industry is quickly expanding as travelers choose to travel by air due to the concept of a world without borders, lower rates, and global business activities. thus, aircraft maintenance and repair are critical jobs in the aviation sector for improved aircraft service and safety. Despite this, numerous aviation disasters occur due to a variety of factors such as malfunctioning equipment, hazardous weather conditions such as turbulence, and human error. In this research, we used text mining to explore a set of internet articles and reports about aviation occurrences and difficulties. the method retrieves frequent and significant terms from the document set. the experiment is divided into four (4) modules: (i) collecting of web articles and reports, (ii) document preprocessing, (iii) text analytics, and (iv) visualization. the experiment’s results show that the bulk of records describe aircraft maintenance, skill mismatch, and training shortages. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the Malaysian Education System have recently implemented the home-based teaching and learning or Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran di Rumah (PdPR) classes due to the outbreak of the pandemic COVID19. Since students were not able to go to schools during the lockdown period, teachers and parents have resorted to creating various methods to engage students in their learning process. Multi-touch technology on tablet appears as a promising tool in visual learning especially during this pandemic out-break. this paper presents a preliminary study conducted on a research project in developing a Visual Learning Application for Mathematics using Holographic Display for the topic on Shape and Space based on Multi-Touch technology called MEL-VIS. A preliminary study was conducted on fifteen (15) primary school teachers. the results of the preliminary study showed that the topic on Shape and Space is a topic that most students had major problems when learning Mathematics at three (3) primary schools. Students were found to have difficulty in understanding the concepts being taught due to factors such as: abstractive phenomena and concepts;as well as possessing low imagination. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Efficiently detecting faults in steel plates is essential for maintaining the safety and dependability of structures and industrial machinery. Timely identification of faults mitigates further damage and averts exorbitant repair costs. this study delves into the efficacy of employing ensemble machine-learning classifiers for fault detection in steel plate manufacturing processes. Specifically, five powerful machine learning models—Random Forest (RF), AdaBoost, Decision Tree, Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Naive Bayes —are investigated in this study. the ensemble models (i.e., RF and AdaBoost) harness the collective power of multiple weak learners to enhance discrimination capacity. Evaluation is conducted using a publicly available dataset comprising seven distinct fault types: Pastry, Z_Scratch, K_Scratch, Stains, Dirtiness, Bumps, and Other_Faults. Results demonstrate Random Forest achieving the highest AUC of 0.942, with an accuracy of 0.771 and balanced F1 score, compared to the other models. this comprehensive investigation enhances fault detection efficacy, fostering informed decision-making in steel plate manufacturing processes. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Subsurface shear wave velocity plays an important role in designing earthquake-resistant structures. Average shear wave velocity up to 30 m depth, known as Vs30, is used as a common design parameter. Ambient noise data that is generated by ground vibrations due to the passing of vehicles or other passive sources carry an important information about the subsurface shear wave velocity structure of the region. the seismic instrument records these disturbances along with three different directions i.e. two horizontal and one vertical. the ratio of the spectral amplitude of the horizontal to the vertical component is an important factor that is dependent on subsurface velocity structure of the investigating area. Ground vibration data from ambient noise recording system has been recorded at Bayasi site in the Garhwal Himalaya. A computer code DISHV in FORTRAN has been developed in this work for obtaining HV curve having a limited data from a large sampled HV curve having similar spectral property. the obtained output from DISH has been effectively used as an input to the HV-Inv software developed by Garcia et al. (Comput Geosci 97:67–78, 2016). the HV curve obtained from recorded data is modelled with a simulated annealing algorithm. the obtained velocity model from Simulated Annealing algorithm is further refined using forward modelling approach to match obtained and theoretical HV curve. © 2021, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In recent years, the increase in healthcare data demands the adoption of fog computing for fast processing and analysis of large data volumes. Fog computing enables real-time data computations that serves closely to healthcare devices. this study proposes the analysis and computations of EEG healthcare data using Pareto optimization-based fog computing. the proposed 2DP-FHS technique selects a fog head among heterogeneous fog devices to manage the EEG data within the fog layer. Additionally, an alternative fog head is designated to ensure continuous operation within the fog layer. the study considers various scenarios and unbiased fog devices in the simulation. Further, it presents the delay analysis varying the number of EEG and fog devices. the results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique across all scenarios highlighting its real-time applicability for various healthcare centers requiring time-critical EEG applications. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In this paper, we discuss the bitcoin technology such as structuring of bitcoin, building of blockchain used in bitcoin, mining, transaction and bitcoin security. the various attacks and its countermeasures have been presented. Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer decentralised electronic cash mechanism which does not depend on any form of central monetary issuing authority or validation and settlement of transactions. For security aspect Blockchain is used in bitcoin in the form of distributed computation. In particular decentralized computation relies on nodes in its network to process, verify and store the information disseminating inside the network. Each node acts as both a client and a server and so the load of catering to requests from clients is spread out and not concentrated on one system. In the case of blockchain, a single data structure is shared across all the nodes, and any updates made to that data structure are circulated across the network. © 2021, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

this paper introduces a spiking neural network able to learn multiple tasks using their unique characteristic, namely, that their behavior can be changed based on the modulation of the firing threshold of spiking neurons. We designed and tested a threshold-modulated spiking neural network (TM-SNN) to solve multiple classification tasks using the approach of learning only one task at a time. the task to be performed is determined by a firing threshold: with one threshold the network learns one task, with the second threshold another task, etc. TM-SNN was implemented on Intel's Loihi2 neuromorphic computer and tested on neuromorphic NMNIST data. the results show that TM-SNN can actually learn different tasks through modifying its dynamics via modulation of the neurons' firing threshold. It is the first application of spiking neural networks to multi-task classification problems.

Cyber-physical system (CPS) is an evolving technology, and as usual, security is a vital issue in its adaptation. Privacy is a primary security requirement in CPS and can cause havoc if unresolved. Much work is done in the area of privacy preservation in CPS, but they are domain-specific. there is no generic mechanism for privacy preservation in CPS. Here, we design a framework for privacy preservation in CPS. the proposed study aims to integrate separate privacy protection mechanisms in different levels of the CPS architecture, addressing different kinds of privacy as information contents, locations, identities, dates and times, addresses, etc., within a common structure. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
