With the increased adoption of real-time objective measurements of player experience, advances have been made in characterising the dynamically changing aspects of the player experience during gameplay itself. A direct coupling to player action, however, is not without challenges. Many physiological responses, for instance, have an inherent delay, and often take some time to return to a baseline, providing challenges of interpretation when analysing rapidly changing gameplay on a micro level of interaction. the development of event-related, or phasic, measurements directly coupled to player actions provides additional insights, for instance through player modelling, but also through the use of behavioural characteristics of the human computer interaction itself. In this study, we focused on the latter, and measured keyboard pressure in a number of different, fast-paced action games. In this particular case, we related specific functional game actions (keyboard presses) to experiential player behaviour. We found keyboard pressure to be higher for avoidance as compared to approach-oriented actions. Additionally, the difference between avoidance and approach keyboard pressure related to levels of arousal. the findings illustrate the application potential of qualifying players' functional actions at play (navigating in a game) and interpret player experience related to these actions through players' real world behavioural characteristics like interface pressure. © 2014 Authors & Digital Games Research Association DiGRA.

A grid computing environment is a parallel and distributed system that brings together various computing capacities to solve large computation problems. Task scheduling is a critical issue for grid computing, which maps tasks onto a parallel and distributed system for achieving good performance in terms of minimizing the overall execution time. this paper presents a genetic algorithm to solve this problem for improving the existing genetic algorithm with two main ideas: a new initialization strategy is introduced to generate the first population of chromosomes and the good characteristics of found solutions are preserved for new generations. Our proposed algorithm is implemented and evaluated using a set of well-known applications in our specific-defined system environment. the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other algorithms within several parameter settings. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2014.

In this paper, we present a saliency guided image object segment method. We suppose that saliency maps can indicate informative regions, and filter out background in images. To produce perceptual satisfactory salient objects, we use our bio-inspired saliency measure which integrating three factors: dissimilarity, spatial distance and central bias to compute saliency map. then the saliency map is used as the importance map in the salient object segment method. Experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms previous saliency detection method, yielding higher precision (0.7669) and better recall rates (0.825), F-Measure (0.7545), when evaluated using one of the largest publicly available data sets. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2014.

this paper describes a system for data acquisition and remote maintenance via wireless communication. In this work the concept of managing time critical tasks via networks is shown. the system consists of a client-serverstructure with a microcontroller-based module connected to the user devices and maintenance software, both as clients and a maintenance server for establishing the connection between the clients and to identify users. the special interest in this paper is the implementation of a specialized communication protocol to optimize the communication between the clients. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

Studying the traditional robot visual tracking technology on human head movement trajectory based on two-dimensional image, this paper summarizes the shortcomings of the traditional robot visual tracking technology. By combining three-dimensional somatosensory information technology and the Hidden Markov Model, this paper applies the technology of robot visual tracking to human head movement trajectory. In detail, this paper describes the algorithm and the realization scheme of the human head movement trajectory identification based on three-dimensional somatosensory information technology. Finally, through comparing with the results of the recognition experiment, we verify that the method of human head movement trajectory identification based on three-dimensional somatosensory information technology has more accurate recognition rate and better robustness. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

From the viewpoint of software engineering implementation, a model-based development approach for reporting systems is proposed systematically based on the concern of separating application descriptions and UI designs. the development process consists of four steps: data modeling, report modeling, model transformation, and code generation. the experiment shows that this approach enhances the efficiency and quality of reporting system development, which can be well combined together with other application development frameworks, and thus can support model-driven software engineering effectively. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

In order to solve the adaptability problem of local tangent space alignment (LTSA) with potential higher-order information loss in manifolds, a novel algorithm is proposed to optimize the extraction of local neighborhood information. the algorithm is based on LTSA and ICA algorithms, which is called the IELTSA algorithm. By optimizing the extraction of the tangent vectors, the algorithm can improve dimension reduction in high-dimensional and unevenly distributed manifolds. the proposed algorithm is feasible in carrying out manifold learning, and the reconstruction error is no more than that of LTSA. Experiments show that IELTSA can be applied to changed-density 3D curves and face images targeted at lower dimensions, showing highest performance over LTSA and other improved methods based on LTSA, and achieving the highest recognition rate in lower-dimensional embedding. the algorithm can effectively reconstruct low-dimensional coordination in curves with changed-density and also shows adaptability in high-dimensional images targeted at lower dimensions. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

Aimed at the problems of low level of informatization in LaiWu blackpig process and the old way of using paper for date storage, in order to speed upthe informatization development of the process, the LaiWu black pig information management system based on ExtJS is designed. In this paper, the design and realization of the system, as well as the open source framework is illustrated in detail, the ExtJS+SSH(Sturts+Spring+Hibernate)framework exploration model is put forward,and the separation of page and is realized. the result of system operation shows that not only the level of informatization in LaWu black pig process is improved, but also its maintainability and expandability are developed. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

In order to resolve the problems of model-driven software development, a model-driven approach for the development of Web application system is proposed in this paper. the development process starts from describing of platform independent models. then, mapping relations from the source model to the target model are built according to the syntactic structure and semantic features of both meta-models, and model transformation as well as code generation can be achieved subsequently. *** is used as a target platform in the experiment which shows that this approach follows the essence, process, and requirements of model-driven software development and thus can make an effect support for model-driven software engineering. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

the visual information fidelity (VIF) index gained widespread popularity as a tool to assess the quality of images and to evaluate the performance of image processing algorithms and systems. But VIF is not a map-based quality metric if its quality map is calculated by traditional sliding window approach. this map-based property is owned by the other quality metrics such as structural similarity (SSIM) and mean-squared error (MSE). In this article, we first construct a novel VIF quality map in pixel domain, which makes VIF become a Minkowski norm of its quality map. Furthermore, we deduce the gradient of VIF by taking the derivative of VIF index with respect to the reference image. the gradient of VIF is easy to calculate and has many useful applications. Experimental results show that the proposed quality map can provide useful guidance on how local image quality is similar to reference image. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
