Collaborative filtering-based recommenders operate on the assumption that similar users share similar tastes;however, due to data sparsity of the input ratings matrix, traditional collaborative filtering methods suffer from low accuracy because of the difficulty in finding similar users and the lack of knowledge about the preference of new users. this paper proposes a recommender system based on interest and trust to provide an enhanced recommendations quality. the proposed method incorporates trust derived from both explicit and implicit feedback data to solve the problem of data sparsity. New users can highly benefit from aggregated trust and interest in the form of reputation and popularity of a user as a recommender. the performance is evaluated using two datasets of different sparsity levels, viz. Jester dataset and MovieLens dataset, and are compared with traditional collaborative filtering-based approaches for generating recommendations. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

It is difficult to separate the foreign fiber objects in a captured color image from the background accurately. To solve this problem, this paper presents a new approach for color image segmentation in RGB color space based on color saliency. Firstly, the captured RGB color image was separated to R, G and B color channels, and the color information for each channel was calculated. Secondly, the R saliency for each pixel in the R channel, the G saliency for each pixel in the G channel, and the B saliency for each pixel in the B channel was calculated respectively. then comprehensive saliency map was obtained by the weighted R, G and B saliency. the weights for the R, G and B saliency were determined by the corresponding color information of each color channel. At last, the foreign fiber targets were separated out from the comprehensive saliency map using a threshold method. the results indicate that the proposed method can segment out the foreign fiber objects from the color image accurately. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

this paper studied the construction of Pear Diseases Domain Ontology (PDDO), and the realization of query system based on PDDO and SWRL. First, an approach to build PDDO based on SWRL was proposed, which consists of confirming core concepts, adding the properties of concepts and the relationships between concepts, adding the instances of concepts, representing domain ontology, adding SWRL rules and reasoning. then the query system model and implementation algorithm were given. the query system, which integrates SWRL with Jess reasoning engine based on the SWRL rules, realized disease query, instance query, and diagnosis query by Protégé- OWL API. the query system realized excavating implicit relationships and renewing PDDO relative to previous system. through the query system based on reasoning pear diseases knowledge can be obtained from PDDO according to user needs, furthermore, new and inferred knowledge are written to the PDDO owl file. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

this paper proposes a bi-gram model based on dynamic programming to Chinese person named entity recognition. By studying the previous work, we concluded that we can improve the precision of NER by improving the recall rate and narrowing the gap between the recall rate and the precision rate. the algorithm defines five recognition rules which ensure the names can be recognized and returned firstly to improve the recall rate. this paper's innovation is a filtering stage introduced to filter out the invalid names by combining the inverse-maximum-matching with bi-gram model. the bi-gram model takes four pairs of transition probability into consideration when segments the sentence which can effectively narrow the gap between precision rate and recall rate. We take the open test in different corpus and materials extracted from the Internet straightly, its precision rate achieves 83.53 %, recall rate achieves 91.43 % and its F-value achieves 87.3 %. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

In order to represent the truth degree or credibility degree, people often use some linguistic hedges in knowledge representation. this paper represents the credibility of uncertain knowledge using linguistic values factors. Based on lattice implication algebra, we construct a kind of model for knowledge representation with ten linguistic-valued credibility factors. this approach can better express both comparable and incomparable linguistic information in knowledge representation. And it can also fit to knowledge reasoning under a fuzzy environment with both comparable and incomparable linguistic credibilities. Examples illustrate that the proposed approach can retain the original information as much as possible. It can also simulate people's thinking model with linguistic values so as to deal with the knowledge more intelligence. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

this paper presents an experimental study on the dynamics and vibration control of a high-speed manipulator. Light weight and high-speed manipulators are flexible structures, vibration will be unavoidable due to motion of inertial components or uncertainty disturbance excitation. To solve this problem, input shaping feed forward controller is adopted to suppress vibration of a flexible smart manipulator. Also, multi-mode positive position feedback (PPF) controller is designed with piezoelectric actuator, for suppressing the lower amplitude vibration near the equilibrium point significantly. Especially, the experiment setup that includes the test-bed mechanism of a flexible planar parallel smart manipulator and the hardware and software structures of the control system are then developed. Experimental research is conducted to show that the adopted input shaping algorithm can substantially suppress the larger amplitude vibration, and the PPF controller can also damp out the lower amplitude vibration significantly. the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed controllers can suppress vibration effectively. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

Recent advances in hardware development coupled with the rapid adoption and broad applicability of cloud computing have introduced widespread heterogeneity in data centers, significantly complicating the management of cloud applications and data center resources. this paper presents the CACTOS approach to cloud infrastructure automation and optimization, which addresses heterogeneity through a combination of in-depth analysis of application behavior with insights from commercial cloud providers. the aim of the approach is threefold: to model applications and data center resources, to simulate applications and resources for planning and operation, and to optimize application deployment and resource use in an autonomic manner. the approach is based on case studies from the areas of business analytics, enterprise applications, and scientific computing.

To realize in vivo, real-time, non-invasive and in-situ detection analysis on the dynamic changes of ion flows in plant tissues, organs, cells and others under natural conditions, this paper designed three-dimensional electronic control motion platform of high-accuracy so as to realize the highlyaccurate motion control in micron order and enable glass microelectrode to measure the plant tissues, organs and cells in its best state. the apparatus requires the portable design, so this paper chose the ion flow detection device with small size and high accuracy and micro integrative drive control module. Also graphical programming software LabVIEW was utilized to send serial port commands so as to realize the accurate and reciprocating motion of glass microelectrode at different positions and further accurately detect the plant microscopic dynamic ion flow parameter. the test showed that this control software could realize highly-accurate positioning of 0.6371μm/step in threedimensional space and the software system could operate steadily, which provides strong supports for the plant microscopic ion flow detection. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.
