Electroencephalography is a commonly used tool for presurgical evaluation of epilepsy patients. In this paper, we present a quantitative evaluation of interictal high frequency oscillations (HFOs) in scalp Electroencephalographies (EEGs) for epileptogenic region localization. We process multichannel EEGs using time-frequency spectral analysis in order to detect HFOs in each EEG channel. Comparison between the results of time-frequency analysis and visual assessment is performed to verify the reliability of time-frequency analysis. Later, t-test and Pearson correlation analysis are performed to analyze the relationships between ictal HFOs and interictal HFOs. the high correlations between interictal and ictal HFOs imply that interictal HFOs, like ictal HFOs, are valuable in localizing the epileptogenic region. As a result, scalp interictal HFOs are valuable in epileptogenic region localization for presurgical evaluation of epilepsy patients. It holds great potential for reducing the long delay before patients can be referred for surgery. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

the objective of this study was to explore spatio-temporal variability characteristic of soil volumetric moisture content (SVMC) during wheat and maize rotation system. In the article, SVMC was determined by the Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), a total of 104 soil moisture content data from sampling sites were collected from the surface layer (0–20cm) at the experiment field (117°3'55.74"E, 36°43'8.99"N) with the support of grid-sampling method, sample measurements were implemented on June 3rd and on September 24th, 2009. On each sampling point, we inserted vertically TDR probe to monitor soil moisture. Each moisture measurement was geo-referenced using a Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS). the statistical analysis results showed that the SVMC range from 2.65 to 4.65 covered approximately percent 67% of the total samplings on June 3rd, which indicated the important effects on the total statistical distribution. Approximately percent 76% of the total samplings range from 45.4 to 55.4 on September 24th. To analyze the temporal variability of SVMC, we developed the comparison analysis results also indicated that the spatial pattern of SVMC clarified the fundamental complicated factors of the spatial structures and the comprehensive factors, and the exogenous variable decreased the effects on the spatial variability of SVMC from percent 70.9% to 54.9%, the random factors dominated the spatial variability of SVMC. the spatial distribution map of SVMC by Kriging interpolation was better to help us precisely and well understand the spatial distribution pattern of the SVMC of wheat-maize rotation system on the field scale. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

there were many factors having an effect on planting development, this paper designed an indicator system for planting assessment, mainly including three kinds of essential sub-system elements, they were resource subsystem, information and energy sub-system and social-economic sub-system, the detailed indicator system involved in 8 concrete indicators from the three sub-systems. In the way, a set of reasonable indicator system of planting assessment was proposed on township/town scale, there was the characteristics involved in rural areas and agriculture information introduced in the case of indicator system. Based on it, the paper constructed the hierarchical structure model of the planting elements assessment, the weight of each indicator was calculated through AHP method. the study results showed that the planting elements development level from the comprehensive assessment was Juzhen township, Fangsi town, Shizhong subdistrict office, Xinzhai town，Xindian town, Zhangzhuang town，Liangjia town，Anren town, Lunzhen town, Shiliwang township and Litun township. Obviously, the comprehensive assessment model had preferable operability and practicability, it not only combined subjective evaluation with objective appraisal, but also qualitative with quantitative study, and fully considered of each assessment factor. therefore, AHP method is scientific and reasonable and suit to be used to evaluate the level of planting elements assessment. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

In this article, the quantity of grapes sold in one fruit shop of an interlocking fruit supermarket is forecasted by the method of support vector machine (SVM) based on deficient data. Since SVMs have a lot advantages such as great generalization performance and guarantying global minimum for given training data, it is believed that support vector regression will perform well for forecasting sales of grapes. In order to improve forecasting precision (FP), this article quantifies the factors affecting the sales forecast of grapes such as weather and weekend or weekday, results are suitable for real situations. In this article, we apply Ε -SVR and LS-SVR to forecast sales of three varieties of grapes. Moreover, the artificial neural network (ANN) and decision tree (DT) are used as contrast and numerical experiments show that forecasting systems with SVMs is better than ANN and DT to forecast the daily sales of grapes overall. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

Recommender systems have proven their effectiveness in supporting personalised purchasing decisions and e-service intelligence. In order to support members in user groups of recommender systems, recently designed group recommender systems search for data relevant to all group members and discover the agreements between members of online communities. this paper focuses on achieving common satisfaction for groups or communities by, e.g. finding a restaurant for a family or shoes for a group of cheerleaders. It establishes an algorithm, called I-GRS, to devise group recommender systems based on incremental model-based collaborative filtering and applying the Mahalanobis distance and fuzzy membership to create groups of users with similar interests. Finally, an algorithm and related design strategy to build group recommender systems is proposed. A set of experiments is set up to evaluate the performance of the I-GRS algorithm in group recommendations. the results show its effectiveness vis-à-vis the recommendations made by classical recommender systems to single or groups of individuals. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

In this work, the path tracking problem of quadrotors is investigated. A quadrotor is represented by unit quaternion and modeled with added disturbance. Given full and accurate location information, a nonlinear H∞ control law is proposed and its stability is analyzed by using Lyapunov stability theorem. the added disturbance includes parameter changes and force disturbance. the simulation result demonstrates the closed loop path tracking system is stable with and without the added disturbance. © 2014 Springer international Publishing.

the global population of people aged 60 years and older is growing rapidly. In the UK, there are currently around 10 million people aged 65 and over, and the number is projected to rise by 50% in the next 20 years (RNIB, 2013). While ongoing advances in information technology (IT) are undoubtedly increasing the scope for IT to enhance and support older adults' daily living, the digital divide between older and younger adults - 43% of people below the age of 55 own and use a smartphone, compared to only 3% of people aged 65 and over (AgeUK, 2013) - raises concerns about the suitability of technological solutions for older adults, especially for older adults with impairments. Evidence suggests that sympathetic design of mobile technology does render it useful and acceptable to older adults: the key issue is, however, how best to achieve such sympathetic design when working with impaired older adults. We report here on a case study in order to outline the practicalities and highlight the benefits of participatory research for the design of sympathetic technology for (and importantly with) older adults with impairments. © the Authors.

Automated text data extraction based on unsupervised small sample learning 7

Most of Web information extraction systems work with the DOM tree–based structured extraction rules to extract data records from Web pages;however, some, data items of, or even whole, of these data records are often in a semi-structured or unstructured text form. thus, we need to introduce text data extraction rules to further extract the fine-grained data elements from those coarsegrained text items or records. However, generating text data extraction rules is a challenging task in either manual or automated way. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised learning approach to automatically deducing text data extraction rules from a small sample of text records. First of all, to prepare for extraction rule template deduction, we propose an iterative center core multiple sequence alignment method to align text columns in sample text records. then, we propose an information entropy model based on the statistical features of text columns to further identify each column as either a template column or a data column. From identified template and data columns, plus some additional processing, we can quickly deduce the template, that is, the text data extraction rule. Eventually, we can use the text data extraction rule to perform the automated text data extraction from test text records. this unsupervised learning approach does not need any manual labeling and enables automated generation of text data extraction rules and text data extraction process. It is the first study effort toward the unsupervised small sample learning approach for automated text data extraction rule generation. the experimental results show that our approach achieves high accuracy. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
