the pre-harvest sprouting of wheat have significant influence for its quality and yield, therefore the fast detection of sprouting extent of wheat is very important for breeding and producing. In this study, the hyperspectral images of these seeds were collected by a near infrared hyperspectral imaging system, the wavelength of which was 850-1700 nm after wheat germination experiment at 0h, 12h, 24h, and 48h. the original light intensity of embryo and endosperm were extracted, and were then changed to reflectivity for later analysis. the image and spectral information of wheat with different parts, different varieties and different sprouting extent were compared. the results showed that after 12h sprouting, the reflectivity of embryo was lower than that of endosperm for the same seed, this is mainly due to the water and fat content of embryo was higher than the endosperm portions. For the same varieties of wheat seed at the germination of 12h, 24h and 48h,in the wavelength range of 870-1300 nm, the reflectivity increased with the increase of sprouting time, it was related to the changes of its internal content of fat in the seed germination process. At 1400nm, the reflectivity of sprouted wheat seeds were all lower than that of dry seeds, it was related to the rise of internal water content in the process of seed germination. Due to differences in seed water absorption and sprouting résistance, for different varieties of wheat seeds, its spectral characteristics are also different. the presented indicated that hyperspectral imaging could reflect the characteristics of sprouted wheat seeds, which provide some basis for explore the sprouting index by hyperspectral imaging. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

In the paper, we reviewed hierarchical statistical modeling about conditional autoregressive models method for spatial data located in Yellow River Delta. Moreover, we also proposed a new method about the evaluation and prediction of per capita grain possession on county-level in the highefficiency ecological zone. With the support of MCMC approaches and conditional auto-regressive (CAR) Model, we estimated the posterior distribution through iterative sampling among per capita grain possession and the correlated factors. As a useful tool, the spatial bayesian model appeared to gain insights into per capita grain possession on spatio-temporal variability related to the grain sowing area, efficient irrigation area, agriculture machinery conditions. the study results showed that auto correlation characteristics and the posterior density distribution were described by the quantity method with CAR model, correspondingly the posterior mean of observed value and the posterior mean of predicted value of per capita grain possession were developed in Yellow River Delta. the posterior probability was more evident statistical significance on basis of prior information and sample characteristics in credible interval. Apparently, three factors of the grain sowing area, efficient irrigation area and agriculture machinery resulted in complex random effects on per capita grain possession. the results also indicated that bayesian method was not only the more quantitative evaluation, but also the more estimated accuracy for the per capita grain possession on country level in Yellow River Delta. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

the temperature of crop leaf is closely related to leaf respiration, transpiration and its drought resistance. the rapid measurement of crop temperature is of great significance for breeding and agricultural cultivation management. the traditional infrared thermometer can only obtain the single point temperature. In this study, a high sensitive thermal infrared imager was used for recording the leaf temperature distribution of maize seedling stage. the temperature distribution of 5 different drought resistance varieties of maize in both normal water and drought stress treatment were analyzed. It turned out that there were obvious differences in temperature for different leaf position. the average temperature in the middle part of the leaf is 0.94°C higher than the leaf apex and 0.81°C higher than the leaf base. the results also showed that the leaf temperature is higher than that of the stem. And the average temperature of the whole blade is 24.07°C, which is higher than the background soil temperature (19.53°C). For the same maize variety, the leaf temperature of drought stress treatment is higher than that of normal water treatment. It was also found that the temperature of maize with good drought resistance is higher than that of the bad one, furthermore, the better the higher. the results above showed that the characteristics of temperature distribution in crops could be effectively obtained by using thermal infrared images, which also provided potential for the rapid identification of crop drought resistance. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

Artificial multi-cellular organisms develop from a single zygote to different structures and shapes, some simple, some complex. Such phenotypic structural complexity is the result of morphogenesis, where cells grow and differentiate according to the information encoded in the genome. In this paper we investigate the structural complexity of artificial cellular organisms at phenotypic level, in order to understand if genome information could be used to predict the emergent structural complexity. Our measure of structural complexity is based on the theory of Kolmogorov complexity and approximations. We relate the Lambda parameter, with its ability to detect different behavioral regimes, to the calculated structural complexity. It is shown that the easily computable Lempel-Ziv complexity approximation has a good ability to discriminate emergent structural complexity, thus providing a measurement that can be related to a genome parameter for estimation of the developed organism’s phenotypic complexity. the experimental model used herein is based on 1D, 2D and 3D Cellular Automata. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2014.

this paper presents some advances techniques for the strategic data sharing and splitting used for encryption and division of secret data, and enterprise management as well as modern approaches for management of divided information. the presented data sharing and splitting techniques will concern cryptographic algorithms as well as data sharing procedures based on cognitive data analysis techniques. Secret information sharing techniques aim to secure strategic information or secrets against disclosure to unauthorized persons. this paper presents algorithms and techniques allowing for visual information division and sharing on the basis of cognitive data analysis systems. the development of computer techniques for classified information splitting should also be useful in the process of shared information distribution and management. Cognitive systems for the semantic analysis of strategic economic and financial data will also be used to conceal information about the condition of the enterprise/organization.

TV is a highly social and massive media that is worldwide available. the Interactive Digital TV represents a new device that is still constructing its identity. Designing applications for it is a challenging task, partially because of its intrinsic complex context and the lack of theoretical and methodological referential to support design activities. In this paper, we argue for a Socially Aware Computing approach to the design of iDTV applications, articulating artifacts and methods from Organizational Semiotics and Participatory Design. A case study on requirements for the design of an iDTV application is situated in the practical context of a Brazilian broadcasting TV Company. the results show benefits of using informed artifacts and methods in participatory and situated practices, indicating that it is possible and viable to make socially aware design in industrial settings. © IFIP international Federation for Information Processing 2014.

In this paper, we present a morphogenetic approach to self-organized collective movement of a swarm. We assume that the robots (agents) do not have global knowledge of the environment and can communicate only locally with other robots. In addition, we assume that the robots are not able to perform directional sensing. To self-organize such systems, we adopt here a simplified diffusion mechanism inspired from biological morphogenesis. A guidance mechanism is proposed based on the history of morphogen concentrations. the division of labor is achieved by type differentiation to allocate different tasks to different type of robots. Simulations are run to show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. the robustness of the algorithm is demonstrated by introducing an obstacle into the environment and removing a subset of robots from the swarm. © 2014 Springer international Publishing.

this paper proposes a morphogenetic pattern formation approach for collective systems to cover a desired region for target entrapment. this has been achieved by combining a two-layer hierarchical gene regulatory network (H-GRN) with a region-based shape control strategy. the upper layer of the H-GRN is for pattern generation that provides a desired region for entrapping targets generated from local sensory inputs of detected targets. this pattern is represented by a set of arc segments, which allow us to form entrapping shape constraints with the minimum information that can be easily used by the lower layer of the H-GRN. the lower layer is for region-based shape control consisting of two steps: guiding all robots into the desired region designated by the upper layer, and maintaining a specified minimum distance between each robot and its neighbouring robots. Numerical simulations have been performed for scenarios containing either static and moving targets to validate the feasibility and benefits of the proposed approach. © 2014 Springer international Publishing.

Recent advances in virtualization technology enable high mobility of virtual machines (VMs) and resource provisioning at a data-center level. Various strategies have been proposed for fast VM live migration over a local-area network (LAN). the most common solution uses memory pre-copying and assumes storage is shared on the LAN. When applied to a wide-area network (WAN), a new design philosophy in VM live migration algorithms is necessary to address like challenges of long latency, limited or unstable bandwidth and storage relocation. this paper proposes a three-phase, fractional, hybrid pre-copy and post-copy solution for both memory and storage to achieve highly adaptive and responsive WAN-wide migration. Our strategy is to selectively migrate an important fraction of memory and storage in the pre-copy and freeze-and-copy phases, while the rest (non-critical data set) is post-copied or demand-paged. We propose a new metric called performance restoration agility, which considers both the downtime and VM speed degradation during the post-copy phase, to evaluate the migration process. We also develop a profiling framework and a novel probabilistic prediction model to adaptively find a predictably optimal combination of the memory and storage fractions to migrate. Our solution is implemented on Xen and evaluated in an emulated WAN environment. Experimental results show that the solution achieves better adaptiveness than others for various applications over a WAN while retaining the responsiveness of post-copy algorithms.
