In this paper we propose a cognitive radio approach for WiMAX systems called CogMAX. the proposed system has all the capabilities of cognitive radio from monitoring to action decision and learning. We used case-based reasoning (CBR) and fuzzy logic (FL) reasoning as the core of the reasoning engine. the reasoning engine designed is used to determine the type of channel that the WiMAX system is operating in. this paper investigates the applicability of using FL and CBR as the core reasoning engine for a cognitive radio WiMAX system. Evaluation is done based on the time taken for the system to determine the type of channel and the error in the decision of the reasoning engine. Numerical results reveals that the use of a FL reasoning engine decreases the error in decision and in most cases faster in the decision making of the channel type.

It also provides robust partitioning, withthe final goal of guaranteeing safety and timeliness in mission-critical systems. the interest in ARINC 653 has extended to the aerospace industry, which resulted in the definition of an architecture, compliant withthe specification, allowing for operating system heterogeneity. In this paper, we introduce the problem of integrating generic operating systems onto this architecture, and explore the case of GNU/Linux. Adding GNU/Linux allows running existing applications or interpreted scripts without needing to port the application or interpreter to an RTOS. In embedded systems, we have to cope with scarce resources and diverse existent hardware, and a balance between both issues must be reached. For such, we show the genesis of such a solution.

this paper aims at building a responsibility model based on the concepts of Accountability, Capability and Commitment. this model's objective is, firstly, to help organizations verify the organization structure and detect policy problems and inconsistencies, and secondly, to provide a conceptual framework to support them in defining their corporate, security and access control policies. Our work provides a preliminary review of the research performed in that field and proposes, based on the observations, an UML responsibility model and a definition for all its components. thereafter, we suggest and explain a deontological logic formalization of the most significant concepts. To achieve that, our innovation stands in the adaptation of the Traditional threefold Classification from the alethic logic to an adapted threefold classification that targets "Responsibility" and based upon which commitment is somewhat refined.

Optical Label Switching (OLS) has been proposed as a promising technology for providing fast switching capabilities, resource provisioning and quality of service (QoS) support. In this paper, we address the issue of providing congestion avoidance in OLS networks inn order to guarantee efficient resource utilization and QoS requirements, and allow the network to operate safely. We develop a novel congestion avoidance protocol through the use of a core node architecture and dynamic contention resolution. the proposed scheme handles signaling tasks, admission control, resource provision and QoS needs. Finally, simulation analysis is used to validate the proposed technique.

Most of the present optical interconnect networks within the high performance computers require either the buffering and opto-electonic conversion of the data packets or the pre-assigning of the optical path from the source to destination, which to a certain extent influence the performance metrics such as latency and throughput. Aiming at the limitation mentioned above, a hybrid optical-electrical interconnection for high performance computer system named Bufferless Optical Interconnection Network (BOIN) is brought forward together withthe link control protocol and deadlock/livelock free routing algorithms. the upper bound of the data transmission latency within BOIN is also given. Experimental simulation is based on the comparison of BOIN and the other two similar networks. the results show that BOIN has advantages over the other two that it can deliver high throughput at low latency, which can well satisfy the need for high performance computing systems.

In this paper, we(1) present an Adaptive Learning (specifically, Learning Automata) Like (LAL) mechanism for congestion avoidance in wired networks. Our algorithm, named as Learning Automata Like Random Early Detection (LALRED), is founded on the principles of operations of the existing Random Early Detection (RED) [1] congestion avoidance mechanisms, augmented with a LAL philosophy. Our approach helps to improve the performance of congestion avoidance by adaptively minimizing the queue loss rate and the average queue size. Simulation results obtained using NS2 establish the improved performance of LALRED over the traditional RED, which was chosen as the benchmark for performance comparison purposes.
