We address the problem on uniform parallel batch machines to minimize makespan where each job is restricted to a specific subset of machines, known as its processing set. Batch machines have diverse speeds and capacities. Each batch machine has the ability to concurrently process multiple jobs as long as the capacity allows. the length of a batch is defined as the largest length of all the jobs contained within it. We present fast approximation algorithms for inclusive processing set.

With the increasing reach of Industry 4.0, the Internet of things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and many other technologies, have emerged as pivotal components in the era of information technology. Recent progress in AI, and its sub-field machine learning (ML), have influenced numerous research domains inside the industry, achieving improvements that were not possible with conventional optimization techniques, notably illustrated in the case of predictive maintenance. A significant component of predictive maintenance is fault detection. the goal of predictive maintenance is to avoid future machine failure and consequent downtime by anticipating faults in machinery. As a result, the aim of this research is to employ ML models for fault identification process. A concrete dataset was employed with real sensors' outputs allowing to make analysis of faults in machines mounted with various types of sensors. Four distinct supervised ML algorithms were applied in our work in which their hyper-parameters were tuned with both Grid Search and Random Search methods. A comparative study between the algorithms' performances was made in order to select the best one with highest metrics percentages. A web-based application was also developed, to monitor data and send alerts when detecting anomalies either via SMS, email or inside the provided web interface.

Under the dual pressure of emission limit of traditional fuel vehicles and energy shortage, new energy vehicles have received wide attention as a viable alternative. Markov process analysis is a dynamic modeling approach, which considers that when the current state of the system is known, the transformation development of a future state is independent of its past state. the Markov process is used to model the system and the Laplace transform is used to solve the reliability indexes such as availability and reliability of the system, the Markov model can clearly represent the transformation relationship between the system states, which can fully characterize the operational capability of the system, which is of theoretical and practical significance for the reliability analysis and calculation of repairable control systems widely existed in engineering.

the propulsion system is the power source of a ship, and the controllable pitch propeller propulsion system is one of the main propulsion devices of modern ships. this paper describes an improved PID controller and its application in CPP control system, i.e., a discrete self-resistive controller (ADRC) based on nonlinear PID is designed and MATLAB/Simulink is used to simulate and verify. the simulation and application results show that the algorithm is able to achieve satisfactory pitch adjustment, and the controller is found to enable the CPP to quickly achieve the expected response when adjusting the pitch to ensure the timeliness of ship navigation, thus meeting the application requirements of the pitch paddle control system.

If the material and size of the structure could not maintain certain values due to some reasons during the working process, it is necessary to consider this problem in the initial design stage of the structure. In this paper, the uncertain parameters of the structure are expressed as interval parameters, and the constraint conditions of displacement and stress are derived from the structural equation. Taking the structural weight with interval parameters as the goal, adaptive ant colony algorithm is applied to solve this problem, and the interval optimal solution is obtained for the uncertain structure. the effectiveness of this method is proved by the optimization of uncertain engineering structures.

With the convergence of information technologies such as the Industrial Internet of things (IoT) and cloud computing with industrial control systems (ICS), the security of industrial data is at great risk. To ensure the confidentiality and integrity of industrial data, this paper designs a hybrid encryption, access control and blockchain-assisted logging communication scheme using advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE) algorithms. the algorithm is validated by simulation experiments and has the advantage of low decryption overhead. © 2022 IEEE.

the study introduces an innovative algorithm for yaw stability control in electric Formula racing cars with four-wheel drive, integrating Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and tire stability margin analysis. the research includes developing kinematic equations for vehicle motion, calculating upper-layer additional yaw torque, and solving the lower-layer optimal torque problem. through simulations and real-world testing, the algorithm significantly enhances vehicle stability and dynamic performance. the method has been successfully applied to the Formula Student Electric China E02 racing car, achieving the fastest lap in a figure-eight test.

Accurate gait phase recognition is crucial for real-time analysis and intervention in rehabilitation, biomechanics, and prosthetics. However, achieving this is challenging due to the diverse machine learning (ML) training methods. this study employs ML algorithms to classify gait phases, focusing on stance and swing phases, utilizing open-source data from 100 participants (41.91 +/- 5.3 yrs). the classification algorithms considered are k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Logistic Regression (LR), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Naive Bayesian (NB) algorithms. the study evaluates these algorithm performances using two training methods with five and ten lower body movements: one randomly selects 80% of stance and swing phase data for training, while the other divides data by participants, allocating 80% for training and 20% for testing. When assessing accuracy with five movements, RF achieved 99.8% for both training methods. With ten movements, RF achieved a high accuracy of 99.9% using the second method. Notably, the performance of all ML algorithms exhibited improvement when considering data from ten movements versus five. Additionally, it was observed that the second training method proved more effective with five-movement data compared to data involving ten movements. this comprehensive evaluation highlights the potential of machine learning algorithms for accurate gait phase recognition in diverse applications with varied training methods.
