Security for agents on the Semantic web is vital because they usually handle a lot of privacy related information. Using this information such like financial information, agents purchase goods, reserve hotels, flights, and cars and make a contract with others on behalf of their users. these features bring them more subtle attacks and dangers. For example, sensitive information about the user may be disclosed or sabotaged by malicious parties. In this paper, we suggest a method to build secure agents on the Semantic web as a solution to this problem. Especially because agents have charges of different and various roles on the distributed systems and platforms on the Semantic web, required qualification for access to resource is dynamically changed according to the case. therefore, at the first, we will discuss the requirement of agent security on the Semantic web and propose a method that the agent dynamically exchanges its authentication and authorization information using SAML(Security Assertion Markup language). Because SAML doesn't need to share same security infrastructure and allows applications to exchange authentication and authorization information, it is suitable for securing the agent that plays various roles in heterogeneous platforms, dynamically changes their requirements, and acts on behalf of users with diverse access permission on the Semantic web. In addition to this, since SAML is based on XML, it has an advantage of easy integration and extension without modification of legacy system and protocol on the Semantic web.

the article describes how identifying recurrent usage patterns of terms in non-specialized contexts (determinologized usage) can act as a filtering device and increase the precision of WEXTER, a system for web-based Extraction of Terms. It outlines an implementation of a WEXTER component called the DiaSketch (Diachronic wordSketch), which detects co-occurrence patterns of mother terms in general language diachronic corpora. Finally, some linguistic properties of determinologized usage are revealed through a case study of DiaSketches for a term from the domain of informationtechnology (IT).

In the Semantic web, metadata and ontology will play important roles for advancedinformation retrieval systems. A large amount of RDF documents for describing metadata and RDF Schema documents for representing ontology will made be available. therefore, many studies to store and query metadata and ontology in RDF and RDF Schema are required. Unlike XML, RDF and RDF Schema express information resources and semantic associations between resources on the web. And these documents can be represented based on graph model. To retrieve efficiently RDF data, the schematic information defined by RDF Schema and methods for querying by using path expressions are required. For these necessities, we define query patterns to retrieve RDF data in RDF and RDF Schema. then for retrieving those query patterns efficiently, we extract path expressions in RDF and RDF Schema graph models and construct indexing structures based on path expressions.

Ontology is the core component in semantic web applications. the employment of an ontology building method affects the quality of ontology and the applicability of ontology language. A weighted evaluation approach for ontology building guidelines is presented in this paper. the evaluation criteria are based on an existing classification scheme of a semiotic framework for evaluating the quality of conceptual models. A sample of web-based ontology building method guidelines is evaluated in general and experimented with when using data from a case study in particular. Directions for further refinement of ontology building methods are discussed.

the web-based information systems have been much developed since the Internet is known as a global accessible open network. the Semantic web vision aims at providing supplementary meaningful information (meta-data) about web resources in order to facilitate automatic processing by machines and interoperability between different systems. In this paper, we present an approach for the integration of heterogeneous databases in the Semantic web context using semantic mediation approach based on ontology. the standard OWL language is used here as the ontology description language to formalize ontologies of local data resources and to describe their semantic correspondences in order to construct an integrated information system. We propose an architecture adopting mediator-wrapper approach for a mediation based on OWL. Some illustrations of database wrapping and semantic mediation using OWL are also presented in the paper.

Evaluation of modelling languages is important both to be able to select the most suitable languages according to the needs, and to improve existing languages. In this paper Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is presented and analytically evaluated according to the Semiotic Quality Framework. BPMN is a functionally oriented language well suited for modeling within the domain of business processes, but probably also general processes not only within the business domain. the evaluation indicates that BPMN is easily learned for simple use, and Business Process Diagrams (BPDs) are relatively easy to understand. Tools may fairly easily map BPDs into the BPEL4WS format, but executable systems then require creation of web Services representing the Activities in BPDs. An evaluation according to the BWW ontology is useful for finding ontological discrepancies, and the semiotic framework is useful for evaluating quality on a relatively general level. these methods thus complement each other.

the advanced progress in multimedia technology increases the demand on delivering effective content in term of quality withthe ability to describe content. From the W3C initiative into the web accessibility (WAI), there is a dedicated effort to make data accessible by every person even by people with disabilities. Accordingly, this paper balances the portion between the minimum bandwidth and the optimum required data to display customized video-based sign language. It also describes a systematic approach derived from the MPEG-7 multimedia content description standard to annotate sign languageinformation. A new approach is proposed by this paper. It makes use of an "intermediary" signage object rather than immediate transmission of sign language video clips. Based on the signage object, this research analyses the components in order to enhance the display quality for video-based sign language with less data consumption by determining the accurate display parameters.

the advance of Internet technology fosters the order fulfillment process in a supply chain across heterogeneous information systems. In order to monitor states between partners in the process, this study develops exception handling mechanisms based on web service stack. After detecting exceptions, the first step is to make use of the fault and compensation handlers provided by the BPEL4WS (Business Process Execution language for web Services) specification to roll back planned or even executed business processes belonging to the same scope to the original state. the second step is to utilize the resource searching mechanisms, including BE4WS (Business Explore for web Services) and BCME (Business Criteria Matchmaking Engine), to find suitable substitutes to make a replacement or find fitting partners to cooperate withthe original one. the third step is to take advantage of the extensibility, flexibility and scalability of BPEL4WS business process to adjust and re-form a new one to handle unexpected situations. this study uses the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) supply chain as an example to evaluate the proposed exception handling mechanisms. the results show that the proposed methods obtain encouraging performance. the major contribution of this research is the initiative efforts on developing exception handling mechanisms based on web service technologies to improve the exception handling performance.
