Context: In Canada, the justice system suffers from performance and efficiency issues as indicated by long wait time before trial. Actors in the justice system are seeking solutions involving emerging information technology. Problem: there is need to guide the selection of appropriate combinations of technologies supporting or improving justice systems, yet there is no adapted approach focusing on this concern. Objective: this paper aims to develop the basis of a modeling approach supporting the selection of technologies relevant to justice systems. Method: Goal-oriented requirements modeling is used to describe and evaluate the contribution of technology in the context of justice systems, with the help of an illustrative example targeting the improvement of access to justice. Results: the example shows that it is feasible to model the technology alternatives and their contributions to the goals of different stakeholders in justice systems so that selected technologies are well-aligned with the needs of such systems. Goal models also support trade-off analysis in this context. Conclusion: A justice-aware modeling approach has the potential of helping justice stakeholders to better reason about technology selection and document the rationale of their choices. there are however many remaining challenges in the generalization of the approach to other cases and in its validation in practice.

Opinions of other people always carry a very important source of information that has a major impact on the entire decision making process. With the emerging availability and popularity of online reviews, opinions, feedback and suggestions, people now actively employ these views for better decision making. Opinion mining is a natural language processing and information extraction task that aims to examine people's opinions, sentiments, emotions and attitudes about a product. this paper presents an opinion classifier based on Support Vector Machines (SVM) algorithm that can be used to analyze data for classifying opinions. We design a classifier to determine opinion from Bangla text data. We evaluate the performance and analyze comparative results.

Following the NoSQL (Not Only SQL) movement, more research work and applications are looking towards graph databases for their dynamic schema and natural representation of complex data1. In order to access/ search graph data in a single source, a number of search methods have been proposed in the literature. these methods range from graph query languages, pattern queries, template/form based search, to keyword search. One key challenge of these methods is the expressiveness and ease of use trade-off for query formulation. Formulating queries becomes more challenging when querying multiple heterogeneous data sources and when users are unaware of the structure of the underlying data. this paper reviews various methods proposed in the literature to query graph modeled data in two different settings;namely, single source and multiple heterogeneous data sources. Furthermore, the paper proposes ConteSaG, a technique for transparently querying multiple heterogeneous data sources. ConteSaG employs graph database to represent data residing in local sources with no need to create complex global schema or even to upfront integrate all data in a central source. Moreover, ConteSaG provides a context-based keyword search over the graph representations. Context-based keyword search allows users to search multiple data sources by determining the context of search terms without the need to have complete knowledge about the structure of data in the local sources or writing queries in a specific query language. © 2017 ACM.

Most text classification techniques rely on the existence of training data sets that are required to build models. However, in many text classification projects, the availability of previously labeled texts is not frequent due to differences in language (e.g. Spanish), domain (e.g. healthcare) and regional or institutional written culture (e.g. specific hospital). In order to contribute to dealing with this problem, this paper presents LABAS-TS, a web-enabled system for assisting the open, collaborative labeling of training sets for text classification. LABAS-TS is framed within a named entity recognition approach that identifies important entities from a domain-specific corpus, based on gazetteers, and uses a language specific sentence analyzer that extracts the portions of text that should be annotated. LABAS-TS was evaluated in the generation of training data sets to classify whether an electronic health record text contains a diagnosis, a test or a procedure, and demonstrated its utility in reducing the required time for building a reliable training set, with an average of eleven seconds between two labels. © 2017 by SCITEPRESS - Science and technology Publications, Lda. the vision of semantic web is to have a web of things instead of web of documents in a form that can be processed by machines. this vision could be achieved on the existing web using semantic annotation based on common and public ontologies. Due to exponential growth and huge size of the web sources, there is a need to have fast and automatic semantic annotation services of web documents. Since Arabic language received less attention in semantic web research as compared to Latin languages especially in the field of semantic annotation. this motivates us in this paper to present semantic web services that support the semantic annotation of Arabic language documents. the services accept documents and ontologies and produce annotations of these documents using different output formats. the proposed services could be used for building semantic web applications and semantic search engines for Arabic language. To evaluate the performance of these services, a set of ontologies were used with pre-annotated documents related to those ontologies. the initial results show a promising performance which will support the research in the semantic web with respect to Arabic language. With the growth of the Semantic web and its applications, the need to use it in different languages, such as Arabic, is becoming more important. Two of the challenges with the Semantic web technologies are the lack of multilingual support and the complexity of integrating multiple ontologies used by this technology. the objective of this paper is to present efforts that will help users who use the Arabic language to ask natural language questions and then get their semantic representation in SPARQL that allows them to be executed and get the relevant semantic results. this natural language interface makes more use of the cross-domain ontologies and hence improves the understanding of their inquiries, which is needed in some critical domains such as health and food where precise advice is essential. the approach we followed is multilingual and overcomes the limitations in the published relevant systems. With the proposed approach, users who speak Arabic can use the widely published ontologies in English without concern for the translation of their questions. the proposed approach will take care of matching the entered questions with the relevant ontologies to produce their semantic web queries. the proposed approach has been implemented and empirically evaluated. the experimental results are promising, which will help in improving the awareness and usage of the Semantic web by different lingual and cultural users. A Meta-Search engine is an ideal tool that takes search expressions and sends them out to multiple search engines. It then returns the categorized results to the user. For example, we established a Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Patent meta-search engine that takes patents from multiple search engines, such as Google patent and Patent Mall. this website allows UKM students to research patents inside Patent Mall, the UKM database and the Google patent search engine. this study focuses on web design and its development using several tools and programming languages, such as open source *** and SQL Server Database. A few of these are used to retrieve information from search engines, for example, the Google patent application programming interface (API) and Post Query to Patent Mall. In this project, we establish a new framework for the first meta-search engine that specialises in patents, which will minimize useless pages in search results. Additionally, the UKM database contains private university UKM patents. the UKM patent meta-search will extract (or retrieve) these patents depending on a language-Integrated Query (LINQ) that is used for conveniently extracting and processing patents from the UKM database. Finally, the UKM meta-search is a new solution to the problem of obtaining requested information quickly.

Philippine is known as part of the ring of fire, it is one of the disaster-prone countries which was hit by typhoon Haima(with a local name of Lawin), and followed by Sakira(with a local name of Karen) which was hit the country last October 2016, the two typhoons were named as one of the strongest typhoons that hit the country. In today's generation, Twitter served as a communication outlet and a source of information. On some numbers of tweets in social media, there is local language posted by the local users, and this study will bridge the gap since for those speaking another major language in the Philippines. the study will be sought to answer on how to download twitter data from a specific disaster duration in the region, how to extract and identify multilingual disaster-related tweets and finally how to classify disaster and non-disaster tweets in the local language. the study of classification and extraction of disaster and emergency-related tweets is important is interesting study because the life of a person which speaks a very rare dialect is important as the same as the person speaking a major language. the model presented in this study is useful as a tool to extract tweets, filter, and classify that could utilize for a faster response that could save a life.

With the fast development of natural language processing and web technologies in recent years, the amount of knowledge/data available for everyone to explore has grown exponentially. this project is aimed at creating an interactive and proactive presentation agent. In particular, narrative and storytelling techniques are used for engaging the audience and helping the audience digest and remember the content. We present examples of using this system for generating presentations, and preliminary evaluation results.

Microblogs like Twitter(1) are sources for a lot of useful information. But these information are unstructured. To automatically process it, these information have to be extracted with the help of natural language processing techniques. Corresponding systems for information extraction have to be trained and validated with manual annotated data. this paper presents an approach for the cooperative creation of annotated corpora for training and validation of information extraction systems supported by statistical analyses.
