the ever-growing volume and demand for real- time image processing pose significant challenges for traditional centralized architectures. this paper investigates the development and performance of a distributed environment utilizing Apache Kafka for near real-time image processing. We present a novel approach that decouples image ingestion, processing, and output, enabling parallel processing across a cluster of processing nodes. Apache Kafka serves as the backbone for communication and data flow, providing scalability, fault tolerance, and high throughput. Our evaluation demonstrates significant performance improvements compared to a centralized approach, showcasing the feasibility, benefits and drawbacks of using Kafka for distributed image processing. We analyzed factors impacting performance, including topic partitioning, consumer group configuration, and processing workload. the proposed environment offers a compelling solution for tackling near real-time image processing tasks, paving the way for efficient and scalable image analysis applications.

In current compressed sensing fusion reconstruction algorithms, one scheme is to execute compressed sensing reconstruction algorithms in parallel and independently, and obtain the estimated data by several different algorithms, this is the first stage of the fusion algorithm. the second stage is to fuse these estimated data to get the final estimated signal. In the second stage, different methods can be used to realize data fusion. In this paper, we proposed Immune Fusion of Reconstruction Algorithm (IFRA), which fuses data to obtain the final estimated signal by immune algorithm. through simulation, we find that immune algorithm used in fusion has better performance than genetic algorithm and least square method used by predecessors, and the optimal solution is closer to the original signal. We use the measured underwater ship noise data to verify of the reconstruction algorithm. the effect of the fusion algorithm is better than a single reconstruction algorithm, and IFRA is the best in the fusion algorithms.

over the past decade, the amount of information on the internet has increased. A large amount of unstructured data, referred to as big data on the web, has been created. Finding and extracting data on the internet is called information retrieval. In the search for information, there are web crawler tools, which are a program that scans information on the internet and downloads web documents automatically. Search robot applications can be used in various fields, such as news, finance, medicine, etc. In this article, we will discuss the basic principle and characteristics of search engines as an example to build parallel corpora, as well as the classification of modern popular crawlers, strategies and current applications of crawlers. Finally, we will end this article with a discussion of future directions for research on crawlers. © 2022 IEEE.

Many dynamic programming approaches are existing for 1-0 Knapsack problem (KP) for fast GPU-based solution. these dynamic programming methods can be used for solving the problem of Bounded Knapsack Problem (BKP) after converting it into an equivalent 1-0 Knapsack problem. But, after conversion, large problem of BKP becomes too large 1-0 KP to fathoming via these methods on GPU-based system because of limited space availability in GPU device. In this paper, we present an implementation of an efficient dynamic programming technique to solve BKP on GPU-based system via CUDA. With an aspect to preserving the original problem size, BKP is not required to convert into equivalent 1/0 knapsack problem in this approach. Large problems are carried out with only minimally requisite CPU-GPU interactions and less memory occupancy on GPU for better efficiency and memory utilization. this GPU oriented parallel procedure shows brilliant speedup over sequential implementation of the dynamic technique. © 2022 IEEE.

Language-based colorization generates realistic and aesthetically appealing colors by leveraging the guidance of intuitive and user-friendly natural language descriptions. Previous methods in language-based image colorization face several significant challenges, including limited color richness, color bleeding, color distortions, and inconsistent color styles. these issues often arise due to the reliance on dense attention mechanisms, which can lead to an overemphasis on global features at the expense of local details. Furthermore, many feature fusion modules for text and grayscale images are not designed to achieve adequate alignment of the diverse feature representations, resulting in suboptimal colorization outcomes. In this paper, we explore a novel module that employs sparse attention to mitigate the issue of color bleeding and limited colorfulness in image colorization tasks. By introducing a sparse attention mechanism, our method enables more flexible allocation of computational resources with a focus on color awareness. Additionally, we propose a module that effectively aligns grayscale images with color descriptions, thereby improving the consistency and quality of the colorization results. this module leverages the synergy between image features and language descriptions to solve long-standing issues like color bleeding. Empirical evaluations demonstrate that our approach surpasses recent state-of-the-art techniques in both automatic and language-based colorization tasks, validating the effectiveness and robustness of our proposed method in generating high-quality, visually appealing colorized images. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Digitalization of medical images has become firmly established in research labs and clinical settings worldwide, and its numerous benefits have helped drive its rapid expansion, which is predicted to continue momentum over the coming years. Its advantages of cutting costs, improving analysis, productivity and patient outcomes, reducing errors, and enhancing imaging and innovation will likely propel its widespread adoption. In recent years digitalization of medical images especially relied on high performance computing. this work illustrates how a large volume of digital radiology data can be analysed in a parallel heterogeneous architecture. We have used TensorFlow (including Keras) and the Horovod API to speed up the learning of Deep Learning models, particularly using GPUs in single and multiple compute nodes. We conclude that using Horovod API with data parallelism shows tremendous speed gains compared to traditional CPU when training the 2D UNet model. © 2023 IEEE.

the multigrid algorithm is a commonly utilized iterative technique for resolving vast and sparse matrix equations in numerical computation. Hypre is an open-source library of high-performance preconditioners and solvers, incorporates multigrid methods and enables efficient resolution of large, sparse linear systems on parallel computers. We employed a master-slave acceleration model for Algebraic Multigrid method on sunway architecture. Address mapping and intervention strategies for CPE are adopted. Numerical experiments that we proposed optimized algorithm result in speedup of nearly nine times compared to the original version. this showcases the model's effectiveness in accelerating the resolution of large, sparse linear systems. © 2023 ACM.

Game engines are at the heart of the design of modern video games. One of their functions is to keep a high frame rate by scheduling the tasks required to generate each frame (image). these tasks are organized in a soft real-time, parallel task graph, which is a scenario very few works have focused on, or adapted scheduling algorithms to. In this paper, we study the scheduling problem of game engines. We model the tasks and the scheduling problem by profiling a commercial game engine, adapt and compare different scheduling algorithms, and propose two additional optimizations regarding the micro-scheduler and the parallelization of targeted tasks.

Separating algorithms from their computation schedule has become a de facto solution to tackle the challenges of developing high performance code on modern heterogeneous architectures. Common approaches include Domain-specific languages (DSLs) which provide familiar APIs to domain experts, code generation frameworks that automate the generation of fast and portable code, and runtime systems that manage threads for concurrency and parallelism. In this paper, we present the Halide code generation framework for Phylanx distributed array processing platform. this extension enables compile-time optimization of Phylanx primitives for target architectures. To accomplish this, (1) we implemented new Phylanx primitives using Halide, and (2) partially exported Halide’s thread pool API to carry out parallelism on HPX (Phylanx’s runtime) threads. (3) showcased HPX performance analysis tools made available to Halide applications. the evaluation of the work has been done in two steps. First, we compare the performance of Halide applications running on its native runtime with that of the new HPX backend to verify there is no cost associated with using HPX threads. Next, we compare performances of a number of original implementations of Phylanx primitives against the new ones in Halide to verify performance and portability benefits of Halide in the context of Phylanx. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Polar codes have been adopted as error correction codes for control channels in 5G New Radio through the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standardization. the main requirement for 5G technology is to support maximum bandwidth and throughput along with low-complex error correction codes of larger block sizes. Polar codes achieve channel capacity closer to the Shannon limit. the challenges involved in the hardware implementation of the polar decoder have made it a widely researched topic in recent times. Different hardware architectures have been proposed for successive cancellation and successive cancellation list decoding algorithms. In this work using the semi-parallel successive cancellation decoding architecture, a polar decoder has been designed. In order to realize a system-level design, the decoder has been packaged as an AXI4-Lite IP and integrated into a Zynq-based block design using Rapid Prototyping of Hardware Accelerators on Xilinx FPGAs (RPHAX) framework. the resulting design has been deployed on a PYNQ FPGA. On the software side, the PYNQ framework has been utilized to write inputs to the slave registers and report the corresponding output. the implementation of this design as a soft logic on FPGA enables it to be leveraged by any application running on the processing system. A modification in the decoder architecture has also been attempted that shows a significant reduction in power and number of clock cycles by 50% and 33.64% respectively with an increase in the throughput by 58.3%. © 2023 IEEE.
