With the exhaustion of fossil fuels, their dreadful effect on the environment and their soaring prices, renewable forms of energy like solar and wind power have emerged rapidly, as clean and sustainable sources of generating electricity. this paper studies the viability of deploying a 200 kWp on-grid monocrystalline silicon solar plant, by making use of PVsyst software for Dubai international academic city, Dubai. the system was designed to have 22 modules in series with 32 strings in parallel. And the total number of modules is computed as 704. the reports of the simulation were examined to determine the total production of energy and specific energy production which was found to be 352.6 MWh/year and 1757 kWh/kWp/year respectively. the annual performance ratio of the system was calculated as 81.67 %. Lastly, by identifying the main source of losses, the detailed loss for the entire year is estimated and represented by an arrow loss diagram.

For multi-core architectures, making full use of GPU’s high-floating-point computing resources to achieve load balancing among multiple cores. this paper presents the way to use an efficient GPU graphics processing unit to speed up frequent pattern mining algorithms (GPFPM). this paper uses a parallel GPU process allocation mechanism to determine the number of GPU threads required based on the number of sorted items. Using GPU to calculate the threshold can reduce the time spent in support calculations, decrease the times of checks and comparisons, improve the candidate set confirmation time, and return the results to the CPU for the next-order operation. the experimental results show that in the multi-core platform and the hybrid platform of multi-core and multi-GPUs, the algorithm performs well, which excavates frequent set association rules with high efficiency and accuracy, satisfies the demand for efficient data mining of multi-core and heterogeneous platforms, and validates the effectiveness and feasibility of data mining algorithms based on multi-core and multi-graphics processing units. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Approximation via sampling is a widespread technique whenever exact solutions are too expensive. In this paper, we present techniques for an efficient parallelization of adaptive (a.k.a. progressive) sampling algorithms on multi-threaded shared-memory machines. Our basic algorithmic technique requires no synchronization except for atomic load-acquire and store-release operations. It does, however, require O(n) memory per thread, where n is the size of the sampling state. We present variants of the algorithm that either reduce this memory consumption to O(1) or ensure that deterministic results are obtained. Using the KADABRA algorithm for betweenness centrality (a popular measure in network analysis) approximation as a case study, we demonstrate the empirical performance of our techniques. In particular, on a 32-core machine, our best algorithm is 2.9x faster than what we could achieve using a straightforward OpenMP-based parallelization and 65.3x faster than the existing implementation of KADABRA.

MAC is an essential core which is used in every Digital signal processor. the primary focal point of this article is to introduce a high performance Distributed based (DA) MAC and offset binary coding Distributed Arithmetic (DA) based MAC for real time Signal processing Applications. Addition and multiplication are the two hardware resources widely used to design any arithmetic blocks in many fields like video processing, audio processing, speech processing and medical image processing applications. In this article, a literature survey is done on different MAC [2] units with different multipliers to generate partial products and to perform accumulation. Developed a DA based and offset binary coding DA based MAC cores which offers greater speed compared with different conventional MAC's using various multipliers. the coding for DA and offset based architectures are done using Verilog and simulation, synthesis are performed in Xilinx 14.7 Integrated Simulation Environment version. It achieves best area and less delay result when compared with previous approximate adder designs. the results of DA based MAC cores gives much more efficient in delay whereas offset binary coding-based DA offers both speed and area optimization.

the appearance analysis and counting of peripheral blood leukocytes can assist the diagnosis of blood diseases such as leukemia. therefore, it is necessary to automatically extract leukocytes from blood smear images. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end peripheral blood leukocyte image segmentation method based on fully convolutional neural network, which can not only encode multi-scale contextual information, but also capture clear boundary information through decoding. Specifically, the proposed method first utilizes the context-aware feature encoder with residual convolutions to extract a set of multi-scale features. then, a refinement module of parallel dilated convolutions with multiple dilation rates for expanding the receptive field of the feature maps is introduced to aggregate contextual information. Finally, clear prediction results are reconstructed by the context-aware feature decoder and skip connections. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method on two publicly available datasets.

A novel method is proposed in the scope of image segmentation that solves this problem by breaking it into two main blocks. the first block's functionality is a method to anticipate the color basis of each segment in segmented images. One of the challenges of image segmentation is the inappropriate distribution of colors in the RGB color space. To determine the color of each segment, after mapping the input image onto the HSI color space, the image colors are classified into some clusters by exploiting the K-Means. then, the list of cluster centers is winnowed down to a short list of colors based on a set of criteria. the second block of the proposed method defines how each pixel of the input image is mapped onto a specified list of segmentation centers (obtained from the previous block). Usage of the Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) is the solution of this paper to allocate a segmentation center to each image pixel. the rules which the FIS utilizes are designed based on the color of each pixel and its nearby neighborhood. To assess the capability of this method, it is applied to the BSDS500 dataset. the structure of proposed method causes the ability of parallel programming which speeds up the run-time. the experimental results illustrate the superiority of the proposed method over the state-of-the-art methods in the image segmentation.

Modern, high-performance computers are built with a combination of heterogeneous resources, including multi-core and many cores processors, large cache, fast memory, mesh communication between large processes bandwidth, as well as high support for Input/Output capabilities. In order to achieve the best hardware results it is necessary to design highly-performance parallel software with faster modern code that could take full advantage of the vast amount of resources of today's modern machines. Code modernization encompasses a wide range of activities that aim to improve the performance of highly parallel software. Code modernization is an issue that is being discussed more and more in the field of parallel software development. In this context, the experimentation with Stencil codes through a series of strategies for reorganizing code and algorithms, has shown to increase thread parallelism, vector/SIMD operations and compute intensity in modern architectures. For example, with the use of Stencil codes we have achieved a better performance in image edge detection by a factor of three faster than we could achieved with a standard processor.

For the sake of high speed wireless communication, this paper proposes a high speed parallel digital timing synchronization algorithm. the algorithm is a joint scheme composes of index-associated rearrangement based parallel FIFOs and a serial digital timing recovery based dual feedback loop. the proposed parallel FIFOs saves 67% LUTs of traditional method. In the feedback loop, to further reduce the complexity, a direct-calculation parallel NCO structure is proposed;meanwhile, to guarantee the high accuracy, an all effective timing errors contained loop filter is proposed. To validate the algorithm, float and fix point simulations were performed on MATLAB platform. the performance loss introduced are less than 0.5 dB and 1 dB respectively, which confirmed the high efficiency of the algorithm. Furthermore, the algorithm is implemented on a Xilinx XC7VX485T FPGA chip, a 20 giga bit per second (Gbps) online 16QAM timing synchronization is achieved at the running frequency of 159.524MHz with two times oversampling.

In this paper, we design a parallel-processing pipeline for spectrum reconstruction in Fourier transform imaging spectroscopy (FTIS), which works well with the embedded system, NVIDIA Jetson TX2. this embedded system has great performance in parallel computing and can be developed easily by programmers using CUDA C in a single development board. this is very important for data processing on satellite and mobile devices. On the other hand, because of the huge amount of interference data acquired by the Fourier transform spectrometer, traditional interference data processing mechanism is not efficient and time-saving. these data should be processed in a fast way for real time, especially on satellite, to save memory and bandwidth. We take advantage of parallel computing to enable higher efficiency and reduced operation time. Furthermore, traditional serial algorithms for processing interferograms on the ARMs are introduced for comparison. the experimental results show that our parallel spectrum reconstruction pipeline has much higher performance than the serial one, and for huge data, our parallel mechanism also achieves great result in high performance.

parallel computing of layer-based method for generating hologram of 3D objects is introduced. 3D MAX is used to model 3D object. the hologram of 3D model with depth information is calculated by Fresnel diffraction algorithm. the computational hologram generated by computer is reconstructed photoelectric to verify the correctness of the algorithm. this paper expounds the hardware architecture of GPU and CPU, briefly introduces the bottleneck and solution of CPU and GPU acceleration, and describes the optimization of thread and storage bandwidth in parallel processing. We use GPU hardware parallel computing and optimize the calculation process of 3D object hologram by using MKL and CUDA computing environment to improve the efficiency of computing. After analysis, the results show that the parallel computing speed of GPU hardware is 63 times faster than CPU alone. the parallel acceleration method can greatly shorten the computing time of generating hologram with layer-based method.
