Work-related health and safety hazards affect adults with mobility-limiting disabilities disproportionately more than non-disabled adults. Conditions that expose adults with disabilities to greater health and safety risk include employers failing to implement effective workplace ergonomic adaptations and hiring discrimination leading to unstable employment. A systematic review and bibliometric analysis were conducted to evaluate the sources of work-related hazards for workers with mobility-limiting disabilities, the impact of exposure to those hazards, hazard mitigations with design, and measures of mitigation effectiveness. Bibliometric methods implemented included textual concept analysis and scientific mapping of co-citation analysis, and key articles were selected for detailed review. Two key sources of hazards identified are (1) the work environment (workstation, work tools, and interaction with people and machines) and (2) hazards related to employment (transportation to work, safe clothing, and unemployment). Human factors engineering and Digital Human Modeling are two existing design approaches implemented to address these hazards. Design solutions include ergonomic workstations, prosthetics for performing tasks, and robotic devices. the primary measures of mitigation effectiveness are participation in the workplace and safety. Despite existing design solutions, there is still a need to mitigate work-related hazards for physically disabled people. there is a growing demand for innovation as employment rates continue to improve for adults with disabilities.

Impact of Debris Flows on Filter Barriers: analysis Based on Site Monitoring Data

Debris flows are one of the most complex and devastating natural phenomena, and they affect mountainous areas throughout the world. Structural measures are currently adopted to mitigate the related hazard in urbanized areas. However, their design requires an estimate of the impact force, which is an open issue. the numerous formulae proposed in the literature require the assignment of empirical coefficients and an evaluation of the kinematic characteristics of the incoming flow. Both are generally not known a priori. In this article, we present the Grand Valey torrent site (Italian Alps). A monitoring system made up of strain gauges was installed on a filter barrier at the site, allowing the evaluation of impact forces. the system provides pivotal information for calibrating impact formulae. Two debris flows occurred during the monitoring period. We present the interpretation of videos, impact measurements, and the results of numerical analyses. the combined analysis allows a back calculation of the events in terms of forces, flow depth, and velocity. thus, we investigate the applicability of the impact formulae suggested in the literature and of the recommended empirical coefficients. the results highlight that hydrostatic effects dominated the impact during the first event, while hydrodynamic effects prevailed in the second one.

In order to ascertain the hazard of thermal radiation during the overhead flare combustion under accident conditions in an enterprise, the CFD simulation is used to obtain the thermal radiation superposition nephogram under the water failure of the whole plant with two flare discharge and combustion at the same time. According to the regulation of maximum operating heat radiation value of flare system in Standard SH3009 -2013, the influence range of different thermal radiation intensities is calculated, which provides a basis for the height design of overhead flare system and the determination of reasonable safety distance between elevated torch system and surrounding facilities and personnel concentration places. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. Special Region of Yogyakarta is one of the big cities in Indonesia which has important meaning from the political, social, economic and cultural aspect. this area is located in a high earthquake hazard zone based on the 2017 Earthquake hazard Map. this location also mentioned has accelerated bedrock acceleration up to 0.6g. In this study, a re-analysis of PSHA will be carried out using the OpenQuake software with the GEM database and the latest attenuation to see the number of acceleration differences generated in the bedrock. simulation is done by making two logic tree attenuation scenarios, later called the Pusgen scenario (1) and the Cummin's scenario (2). the result of this study is the first scenario will result in an acceleration greater than the second scenario. Bedrock PGA based on the Pusgen scenario range from 0.431-0.720g on another hand Cummin's scenarios range from 0.405 to 0.709g. © 2020 EAI.

this paper is concerned with the analysis and mitigation of Harmonics generated by the Solar system, Semiconductor device, and Power electronics converters. the investigation of harmonics has been carried out for analyzing total Harmonic Distortion (thD%) of the system with and without filters. then by using harmonics filter or passive filter, the 5th, 7th, 11th, and 13th harmonics are compensated. then the data and simulation of thD percentage are shown. DC-DC and DC-AC converters create many harmonics. Harmonics are measured line to line in AB, BC, and AC of a 3 phase line. Finally, the Total percentage of thD is come down to 0.72% which is our desired value. So, the main aim is to design a PV solar system and a passive Harmonic filter to mitigate Harmonics from the system. © 2019 IEEE.

Process analysis and hazard assessment are essential for the prevention and mitigation of debris-flow hazards in mountainous areas. Many villages and ongoing infrastructure projects in China are vulnerable to large debris flows during heavy rainfall or glacier lake outbursts. Without emergency management planning, such contingencies can lead to extensive loss of life and egregious property damage. In the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau area, debris-flow disasters are a common phenomenon. In this article, we analyzed the spatial distribution, activity and hazard characteristics of debris flows and established a debris-flow database by using geographic information technology. Moreover, we comprehensively analyzed the dynamic process of debris flow at a local scale, the compound effects of debris flows along riverside section and the disaster environment factors of debris flows overall scale of Sichuan-Tibet highway respectively. Accordingly, we built an applicable factor system and a comprehensive framework to quantitatively evaluate debris-flow hazard degree, and then proposed a multi-scale debris-flow hazard assessment method by analyzing typical large-scale debris-flow hazard, debris flows along riverside highway and debris flows in whole traffic corridor, respectively. Especially, with respect to typical large-scale debris-flow disaster, we proposed a dynamic process-based method to analyzed debris-flow hazard by using numerical simulation of debris flow, flood analysis, RS and GIS technology. In view of debris flows along riverside highway, we analyzed debris flow process and determined the hazard evaluation indexes and proposed a quantitative method of hazard assessment for debris flow along riverside highways. Regarding to debris flows along whole road, we proposed a quantitative method to analyze the hazard of debris flows and classified hazard levels in the debris-flow prone area along highways. On the early morning of 15 August 2010, a runoff-generated debris flow routed along the Rio Val Molinara Creek and inundated the village of Baselga di Piné (Autonomous Province of Trento, northeast Italy) with about 50000 m3 of debris. Post-event field surveys allowed both the identification of the initiation area, and the estimate of the average erosion-deposition depths on different zones of the affected area. On one hand, the map of erosion-deposition depths along the Rio Val Molinara Creek was obtained by subtracting the corresponding pre- and post-event DEMs elevation values, interpolated by using the LiDAR data of two aerial surveys carried out in 2007 and 2011, respectively. On the other hand, the map of debris deposits on the inhabited fan was obtained by integrating the direct post-event field estimates and photo interpretation. In the research, the studied debris-flow event was simulated from the triggering to the inundation through a models cascade, which relies on the sequential application of rainfall-runoff, triggering, and routing models. After that, the routing model results were compared with the observed erosion-deposition pattern in order to assess the reliability of the proposed approach. In detail, the runoff was simulated in the initiation area and then used for building the solid-liquid hydrograph. After that, the solid-liquid hydrograph was routed downstream by means of a bi-phase GIS-based cell model, previously parametrized by using approximately the same values employed for the back-analysis of two debris-flow events occurred in the Dolomites (northeast Italian Alps). the comparison between the observed and simulated erosion-deposition depths and volumes is quasi-satisfactory. this is an important research outcome since the reliability of both debris-flow hazard assessments and risk analyses based on routing models relies on the trustworthiness of model simulations.
