In this paper, the main focus is on application of bootstrap method for segmentation of SAR imagery based on the multiscale dynamic model. Given an original SAR images, we randomly select a small representative set of pixels. then, multiscale autoregressive (MAR) model, which captures multiscale stochastic structure inherent in SAR imagery, is used for SAR imagery segmentation. the results we obtain show that our method based on bootstrap sampling gives better results than the classical one both in the quality of the segmented image and the computational time.

In this paper, a new adaptive step-size CMA blind equalization algorithm has been proposed to enhance the performance of the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) for blind equalization of time-varying channel. the time-varying step-size sequence is adjusted by the autocorrelation of the error signal. the new algorithm provides fast convergence at early stages of iteration while ensuring small final misadjustment. Simulation results comparing the proposed algorithm and conventional CMA algorithm confirm the new algorithm's improved performance.

Recently there have been many information extraction tasks applied to the biomedical domain, some of which contribute to extract protein-protein interactions from biomedical texts. this paper presents a new method for automatic pattern acquisition to extract protein interactions. the system automatically generates patterns by aligning sequences of tags of sentences from unlabeled corpus. To obtain a high tagging accuracy, we propose a morphology-based tagging method with a pre-tagging strategy for Brill's tagger. Our method differs from the previous pattern acquisition algorithms in the ways: first, it does not need to provide any seed word or pattern before the algorithm runs; second, we do not apply any parsing algorithm. Lastly, our method, which is based on dynamic programming, is fast.

the PSAM (pilot-symbol assisted modulation) technique is the common channel estimation method for OFDM systems by using the time and frequency correlation of the channel. ESAE (extended symbol aided estimation) method has more robust feature in fast fading channel. But ESAE has an unstable property in a high-speed environment. In this paper, we proposed the Turbo ESAE and adaptive turbo ESAE channel estimation algorithm that is based on conventional ESAE algorithm and utilize the soft output of the turbo decoder. computer simulation results show that the proposed methods have lower algorithm complexity and shorter processing delay than iterative channel estimation algorithms and can decrease the effects of the error accumulation in time and frequency selective channel.

In this paper, we focus on making the Kalman filter robust for multiscale autoregressive (MAR) model. the equivalence between the Kalman filter in optimal estimation algorithm for MAR model and a particular least squares regression problem is established. And the regression problem is solved robustly using a statistical approach named M-estimation. the robustness of the proposed approach is demonstrated with simulation.

In this paper, a 3-band wavelets transform, which has two main characteristics of primary visual sense: Gabor function model and 3 scale transform, is used to simulate the processing of simple cell in the visual cortex. Because of higher order statistics properties of the environment, the input response under the multiresolution analysis is decomposed linearly by using the independent component analysis (ICA) and the basis functions at each resolution are extracted. the experimental results indicate that our model with wavelets characterization could simulate the response characteristic of primary visual sense preferably.

Whitening is a popular method to reduce the complexity of the problems in ICA. In the linear instantaneous mixing model, the search space of the separation matrix is restricted to the special orthogonal group SO(N) by the prewhitening of the observations. this paper proposes a new learning rule in blind source separation using RGOSOG (relative gradient on SO(N)) method. We show that when the contrast function is the Renyi's mutual information (RMI), the algorithm based on RGOSOG is easier to implement and the complexity of RGOSOG method is less than that of the conventional gradient descent method. Simulation illustrate that the new algorithm has the same performance on signal-to-distortion ratio as the conventional one.

In this 2 kb/s enhanced waveform interpolation speech coding, the rapidly evolving waveform (REW) magnitude is represented by the 2-D parametric surface and quantized withthe analysis-by-synthesis (A-b-S) approach, the slowly evolving waveform (SEW) is optimized and quantized with A-b-S method as well, and the power is quantized with switched-predictive A-b-S method. the computer simulation results and subjective tests show that the coded speech quality exceeds that of federal standard 2.4 kb/s MELP coder greatly.

In the paper, we propose a novel uniform representation of generic form, within which three typical categories are defined according to the logical layout from the view point of human vision, which are explicit, semiexplicit, and implicit style form. Under the uniform framework, the different criteria are also defined and carried out on the difference kinds of forms, based on the frame line extraction using single-connected chains. Meanwhile, two subclasses of semiexplicit form, mendable and unmendable ones, are discovered and can be reconstructed by key points matching and bounding box dilation so that we can deal with a number of variations of form structure. the experimental results have shown that our proposed framework is effective and reasonable for layout analysis and structure reconstruction.
