industrial applications require higher real-time and reliability of the Internet. Conventional reliable transmission based on TCP is difficult to meet the time constraints of critical tasks at the same time. In order to guarantee the reliability and satisfy the time constraint in industrial SDN, a Software Defined Reliable UDP framework (SDRUDP) based on multi-path and cache nodes is proposed, and the selection method of multi-path and cache nodes supporting SDRUDP is designed. SDRUDP provides a backup path for data transmission and sets up a buffer node in industrial SDN. the buffer node connects the main path and the backup path and temporarily stores the transmission data. In case of transmission failure, the reliability and timeliness of transmission are ensured by switching the main and backup paths and retransmitting the data of the buffer node. By comparing SDRUDP, RUDP, iPRP and single-path transmission, it is proved that SDRUDP can better meet the real-time and reliability requirements of industrial Internet. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

the advancing industrial digitalization enables evolved process control schemes that rely on accurate models learned through data-driven approaches. While they provide high control performance and are robust to smaller deviations, a larger change in process behavior can pose significant challenges, in the worst case even leading to a damaged process plant. Hence, it is important to frequently assess the fit between the model and the actual process behavior. As the number of controlled processes and associated data volumes increase, the need for lightweight and fast reacting assessment solutions also increases. In this paper, we propose CIVIC, an in-network computing-based solution for Continuous In-situ Validation of industrial control models. In short, CIVIC monitors relevant process variables and detects different process states through comparison with a priori knowledge about the desired process behavior. this detection can then be leveraged to, e.g., shut down the process or trigger a reconfiguration. We prototype CIVIC on an Intel Tofino-based switch and apply it to a lab-scale water treatment plant. Our results show that we can achieve a high detection accuracy, proving that such monitoring systems are feasible and sensible.

In the passive receiver production process, the microwave switch module needs to be paired with the frequency conversion component to ensure that the constituent channels meet the requirements of the index production. An matching algorithm based on matrix computation was proposed to solve the problem that the current manual matching is inefficient, and it is difficult to meet the requirements of mass production. the matching algorithm based on traversal ideas, exhausting all matching combinations to get the most pairs. the pairing function is formulated according to the matching specification, all feasible matched pairs could be got by a cycle of the pairing function computation, and the results are stored in the matrix. Selected priority of each feasible combination is determined by the pairing rate. the screening process is based on the selected priority so as to obtain the final matching plan. the experimental verification shows that the algorithm has a pairing success rate of 95%, which is nearly three times more effective than manual pairing. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

A network of remote servers is implemented by cloud computing, which is placed on the internet to safeguard, access, manage, and process data instead of on a local server. Cloud computing is currently a very in-demand service as it provides various benefits like huge computational power, cost cutting of services, enhanced performance, scalability, stability, and availability. In this review work 442 research papers on implementation/adoption of cloud computing in the field of higher education were explored using the bibliometric analysis and reviews of numerous studies were incorporated. these results demonstrate that during the past few years, there has been an increase in interest in cloud computing research, which has provided an improved understanding of the application or implementation or adaptation of cloud computing in the sphere of higher education. this report will give researchers, students, publishers, and experts information about the present cloud computing deployment trend in the higher education sector. © 2023 IEEE.

the main purpose of this research study is to provide solutions to faults/hazards/threats that occur in Industry 4.0 with the rise of new technologies, and devices so these problems can be identified and preventive action can be taken before any crisis. these incidents are caused due to leakage of gas, fire, boiler/cylinder explosions, overheating of operating machines, and other manmade disasters or improper handling of chemical, biological and radioactive material, etc. therefore, it becomes important to identify such incidents at an early stage to prevent major accidents and save the lives of employees in Industry 4.0 and surrounding livelihood. Considering the above scenario, the authors present a solution called industrial Fault Monitoring Bot. this robot is deployed in the manufacturing plant to monitor safety conditions in different units. the robot swiftly navigates through various units, checks the safety status, and reports this to the safety unit. In this paper, the authors will elaborate on the design, working, and technologies used for it. © 2023 IEEE.

In the manufacturing of industrial products, traditional methods of surface inspection do not meet the increasing quality standards in manufacturing. In this paper, first, we propose a lightweight convolutional neural network framework for the detection of subtle surface defects using deep neural network algorithms. the detection framework consists of two stages: pixel-based defect segmentation and defect classification, where the defect segmentation algorithm segments and extracts the defect-containing areas of an industrial image, and the defect classification algorithm predicts whether the image contains defects based on the results of the previous segmentation. then, we improved the You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm for industrial surface defect detection. the improved algorithm, defined as DR-YOLO, identifies defects and their approximate locations from multi-target images. Subsequently, we use data augmentation to address the problems of small sample size and uneven distribution. the experimental results show that our method outperforms other detection algorithms in terms of evaluation metrics, as well as being more advantageous in terms of rapidity of detection, and the results of defect segmentation are close to industrial reality. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Multivariate data acquisition strategy is a crucial issue in edge computing based industrial Internet of things (EC-IIoT), which should be carefully designed to improve energy efficiency and prolong network lifetime of EC-IIoT. Sampling on graph provides a promising opportunity to solve resource limited sensor selection problem via forming the appropriate sampling set and reconstructing original graph signal. In this paper, we translate the multivariate data acquisition strategy to the graph sampling set forming problem, which could exploit the adjacent correlation of the vertices in the spatial and variable domain. the simulation result demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed data acquisition strategy. © 2024 IEEE.

the dental arch plays an important role in generation of maxillofacial panoramic imaging and is beneficial to orthodontic treatment. However, it is hard to detect dental arches accurately and employ all them to reconstruct a panoramic image. In this paper, we propose a dental arch detection procedure based on radials from a configured center on each axial slice and can detect the dental arch on each axial slice. the program will first remove spines and those tissues above hard palate. then, on each axial slice, it will search the inner and outer intersection points of the jaw with each radial at equal spaced interval based on large intensity variation. With these detected points, we can construct the dental arch through selection of feature points, spline interpolation, curving fitting processes. the results demonstrated that our method can accurately detect dental arches, and further, it performed well when the dental arch is lack in the mouth open on the axial slice. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
