the activity of technology enhanced group music making can offer intriguing insights into musical interaction, new ideas on performance, and more easily provide non expert musicians the opportunity to participate. Collaborative improvisations often have a looser structure then traditionally composed score based music, but in most cases there are still sets of structural frameworks to be followed. distributedJ, a group music service, is proposed to aid in the creation and execution of flexible collaborative mobile music performances and attract a broader audience participation. Designed to run through an internet client, the system provides a communication layer between a central performance server and multiple clients that are used to actively manipulate the contents of delivered audio through participant's mobile interface.

Extract, transform, and load (ETL) is a very common and important technology for building data warehouse includes business intelligence. When people issue a very complex SQL query to acquit data from a transaction system into a data warehouse, it involves many procedures including table-joining, sort, and aggregation. Such procedures require significant retrieving step and huge data transferring from tables. the intensive querying very often causes performance issues to be concerned. Moreover, it commonly generates negative impacts on data instance resources. How to improve the performance for ETL becomes critical and challenging. this paper presents a parallel processing solution that splitting big and complex SQL query into small pieces in distributed computing manor. the proposed method aims at reducing cost of computation, while ensuring data integrity among joined tables. the innovative idea can be verified through selected test-beds of performance tuning.

the Integration of MANETs and infrastructure networks such as internet, extends network coverage and increases the application domain of MANET. Several strategies exist for integration of two networks. Most of them presume that a non-adversarial environment prevails in the network. However such an ideal scenario is not always guaranteed. Nodes many behave maliciously due to scarcity of resources, congestion, or malicious intentions. In this paper a trust based, load aware, and secure gateway discovery for IIM is proposed. It employs the concept of mutual trust and authentication among nodes to prevent malicious activities. However a notable exception is that a node may experience packet-drop due to congestion on route or overflow in the interface queue of an intermediate node;this is not a malicious behaviour. In order to avoid such false malicious behaviours, we employ an effective and adaptive load balancing scheme to avoid congested routes. thus it would be a novel strategy that ensures the routing in the Integrated internet and MANET to be trustworthy, secure, efficient, and robust. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

In this paper, radio resource allocation and users to access networks assignment in heterogeneous wireless networks is studied. Mobile terminals are assumed to have the capability of using multiple radio access technologies simultaneously. A joint optimization problem is formulated, which guarantees services for terminals and maximizes the sum utility of all base stations/access points. Our model applies to arbitrary heterogeneous scenarios where the air interfaces belong to the class of interference limited systems like CDMA-based UMTS or to a class with orthogonal resource assignment such as TDMA-based GSM, WLAN or OFDMA-based LTE. Dual decomposition is employed to solve this optimization problem and a distributed iterative algorithm is developed. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a technology with high potential to be employed in several industrial and quotidian situations. Self-organization and self-configuration are key characteristics of WSNs. In most situations, these characteristics are useful because they minimize the configuration efforts and simultaneously increase the network robustness in case of failures or topology changes. However, they can also be exploited to perform security attacks, since third party nodes can easily join the network and, then, use it to compromise legitimate nodes and to send messages to the internet. this paper presents a mechanism that can be used to control the nodes that have access to WSNs with 6LoWPAN support. It is based on administrative approval, preventing third party nodes from using the network to communicate with regular nodes. It uses standard protocols which are present in all 6LoWPAN compliant networks, such as 6LoWPAN Neighbor Discover protocol and RPL routing protocol. this paper also presents the design and deployment of a laboratory testbed that validates the proposed solution.

Health care providers have over years continuously rejected Public Cloud technology for understandable concerns regarding privacy and confidentiality. the pick up rate on cloud computing in health care has been very poor reminding at the typical hype curve profile. Coincidentally Google Health has been discontinued and Microsoft Health Vault has switched focus and turned to the slightly "softer" ambient assisted living market. It seems that the idea of using Platforms as a Service and Software as a Service to manage and distribute patient data in support of new distributed patient centric care models and services will require second thoughts and new ideas in order to receive another chance to penetrate global health care markets. the 2010 EC Cloud report briefly discussed the possibility of a reverse cloud approach aiming at sending software to the data rather than the other way round [1]. this thought seems to be worthwhile exploring further, as it would also sit well with the fact that the overall amount of data is currently growing much faster than the available bandwidth, a gap that continues to widen. therefore it would be entirely reasonable to consider ideas to bring the software to the data rather than the other way round. this approach would also address existing governance, QoS and security issues. Our paper proposes a taxonomy and an architecture for the implementation of the software-to-data-paradigm in health care scenarios. the model is based on the "FI Core Platform" an innovative concept currently under investigation under the European 7th Framework (FP7)[2].

As an advanced technology of implementing wideband spectrum sensing and enhancing the ability of secondary users to utilize multichannel diversity in cognitive radio networks, compressive sensing, without requirement of increasing ADC sampling rate, makes use of unique trait of sparse channel occupancy in cognitive radio networks to detect appearance of primary users in wide spectrum. However, current existing research works aim at highly accurate sensing based on Gaussian Random Matrix (GRM) design, but they fail to take time-efficient sensing into consideration, because GRM causes large computing volume and inefficiency, which lowers the capability of compressive sensing to quickly adapt to channel occupancy change rate of primary users and in turn decreases utility of spectrum exploitation for secondary users. In this paper, we design a Structurally Random Matrix (SRM) by combining GRM and Partial Fourier Matrix (PFM) to improve time efficiency of compressive sensing. As SRM possesses the sensing accuracy merit of GRM and the computing efficiency merit of PFM, the proposed compressive sensing scheme TECSS largely improves time efficiency at a cost of minor sensing accuracy. Simulation results reveal that the sensing accuracy of our proposed TECSS is 92.5% in average sense, slightly below that (95%) of compressive sensing schemes based on GRM, but time-efficiency is upgraded by 100%.

Device-to-Device (D2D) cluster communication underlaying cellular networks has been proposed as a means of increasing the resource utilization, and improving the spectral efficiency. However, when D2D links cannot satisfy the connection requirements, in order to keep the connection, D2D communication has to switch back to cellular communication. Consider that the previous switching methods mainly concentrated on the network centralized controlled D2D communications, so we propose a novel switching solution aided by a cluster head for (semi-) distributed controlled D2D communications. We propose the switched D2D user itself search and access the target base station. the cluster head determines transmission mode based on the channel state information after switching. the numerical simulation demonstrates the hybrid mode outperforms the D2D mode in some conditions.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) is a key technology extensively applied in many fields, such as transportation, health-care and environment monitoring. Despite rapid development, the exponentially increasing data emanating from WSN is not efficiently stored and used. Besides, the data from multiple different types and locations of WSN needs to be well analyzed, fused and supplied to various types of clients, such as PC, workstation and smart phone. the emerging cloud computing technology provides scalable data process and storage power and some types of connectable services, which can helpfully utilize sensor data from WSN. In this paper, we propose an integration framework of cloud computing with WSN, in which sensor data is transmitted from WSN to cloud, and processed and stored in cloud, then mined and analyzed so as to be supplied to various clients. By applying virtualization and cloud storage technology, and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) of cloud service model, the framework can fully process and store mass sensor data from multiple types of WSN. Besides, it efficiently mines and analyzes sensor data, based on which the data applications are well supplied to various types of clients in form of services. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media.

Wireless systems being event-driven by reading passive RFID tags, detecting proximity of multiple active RFID tags, or dereferencing data coded in optical identification tags are often designed and implemented for its specific usage. this paper introduces a middleware application that decouples event detection, its forwarding to designated receivers, and action triggering at a consumer allowing multi-purpose usage for different applications in heterogeneous architectures e.g. identifying objects in the term internet of things.
