Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are increasingly popular in the field of greenhouse environment monitoring. In this paper, a new design of greenhouse remote monitoring system based on WSN and WEB is presented. the system has a three-tier structure of node layer, distributed management layer and WEB service layer. Experiments showed that the node layer has excellent self-organization and communication ability. the maximum distance of one-hop is 856 m. the distributed management layer can acquire and manage the data of temperature, humidity, light and the level of the carbon dioxide, and simultaneously send the data to WEB server database through the internet. the WEB service layer can complete format storage, statistical analysis and conditional query for database, also ordinary users can obtain the graphic display of the greenhouse environment data through web browser. Normal working time of system reaches 141 days in the experiment. Meanwhile. normal operation rate exceeds 92%. Packet transfer rate of each sensor node is higher than 89.6% and lower than 95.4%. the greenhouse remote monitoring system based on WSN and WEB can realize an organic combination between distributed management and remote data sharing throughout different regions.

In recent years, remarkable advances have been made in internet technology. People obtain information not only from the newspaper and the television but also from internet. therefore, many data files are stored in repositories on the network. Lots of network storage providers make use of the distributed file system to manage data files with a stable service. the problem about the overload of one file server still exists in the distributed file system. Hence, the file replication strategy is adopted to lighten the load of the file server and to balance the load of the whole system. In this paper, we shall observe each file access growth trend. the system creates and stores file replicas in some suitable repositories according to the growth trend. If a file server crashes, the user will find the requested file by the file replication strategy. through the strategy, the replicas will be stored in suitable repositories, and users almost can access needed files in local servers to decrease the file transmission delay.

the wireless adhoc network is comprised of nodes (it can be static or mobile) with wireless radio interface. Each host is equipped with a CSMA/CA (carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance) transceiver. these nodes are connected among themselves without central infrastructure and are free to move around. It is a multihop process because of the limited transmission range of energy constrained wireless nodes. this creates the scenario of multihop, where the packets originated from the source host are relayed through several intermediate hosts before reaching the destination. Routing is the process of finding a path from a source to destination among randomly distributed routers in dynamic network. In this paper table driven routing protocol STAR and on demand routing protocols DSR, DYMO based on IEEE 802.11 are surveyed and characteristic summary of these routing protocols is presented. their performance is also analyzed on performance metrics throughput, jitter, data delivery ratio and end-to-end delay by varying nodes mobility with CBR data traffic load using QualNet 5.0.2 network simulator.

the threat of voice spam, commonly known as Spam over internet Telephony (SPIT) is a real and contemporary problem. If the problem remains unchecked then it may become as potent as email spam today. In this paper, we present two approaches to detect and prevent SPITting over the internet. Both of our approaches are based on the anomaly detection of the distributions of selected call features (i.e., day and time of calling, call durations etc.). the first approach uses Mahalanobis Distance as a summarization tool and it is able to reliably detect individual spam VoIP calls at a microscopic level. the second approach is designed to detect groups of (potentially collaborating) VoIP spam calls at a macroscopic level. By computing entropy of call durations of groups of calls, we are able to build profile of normal calls and reliably detect the deviation from normal human call behavior that are caused by bulk spam calls. We empirically validate our VoIP spam call detection approaches with real VoIP call traces obtained from a VoIP service provider network. Our experimental results show that call feature distributions can be used to build a fairly general and effective anomalous call behavior detection framework. © 2012 ICST Institute for Computer Science, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

there are many services on internet that people can enjoy them everywhere. these services all need a large-scale storage system to store thousands of data. Although the large-scale storage system provides large storage capability, it also consumes much energy. the traditional energy-efficient storage system usually spins down the hard-disk rotation rate to reduce the energy consumption. However, only spinning down the hard-disk rotation rate can only save little energy. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient storage system. the system reduces the consumption of energy by switching the server state into the sleep mode. We also propose two scheduling algorithms to handle the offline and online scheduling modes. the experimental result shows the proposed energy-efficient storage system can save about 50%~75% of the energy.

Botnets are threatening the internet heavily, and more and more botnets are utilizing the P2P technology to build their C&C (Command and Control) mechanisms. Some research have been made to compare the resilience of structured P2P botnets and unstructured ones, against elimination of nodes, but the problem that which eliminating strategy is the best is rarely studied. In this paper, we proposed a new metric called the half point, to measure the effectiveness of different strategies. We also selected seven different eliminating strategies and compared them. through extensive simulations, we find that RBC is the best eliminating strategy. Further analysis shows that for the strategy RBC, the average degree of nodes in the botnet have the most significant influence. the bigger the average degree is, the bigger the half point of RBC is, which implies that node eliminating may not be a reasonable choice for mitigating botnets with big average degree. Results of this paper can provide guidance for restraining structured P2P botnets.

A PSE (Problem Solving Environment), called as WAPSE, is constructed based on cooperation of Web modules, distributed on one or more servers. WAPSE helps users to concentrate on problem solving. A user interface as part of PSE of WAPSE is built on a Web browser for an easy use of PSE. Simple processing combining multiple modules is already possible, because Web service technologies have since progressed. Various Web servers connected to the internet can share each resource. However, it is difficult to build a Web based agents' system in primitive Web environments. It is troublesome to deploy a large numbers of Web based agents to each computer all at once. the debugging of a Web based agent and change of the processing computers are common problems at a development stage. therefore, we developed WAPSE so that a developer more easily described a Web based agent. WAPSE is a middleware for PSE using cooperation of a simple Web based agents' group handled on one or more Web servers. though the architecture is simple, WAPSE behaves in a complicated way because it makes distributed cooperation between agents in async sequentially. One simple Web based agent's behavior is predictable because a simple Web based agent is carried out simply. However, behavior becomes complicated even at cooperation of two simple Web based agents. Furthermore, behavior by the cooperation of many simple Web based agents is complicated. WAPSE is extended to include mobile terminals as processing computers because recently various mobile terminals are popular. therefore, WAPSE behaves in a more complicated way.

Advances in mobile networking and information processing technologies have triggered vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) for traffic safety and value-added applications. Most efforts have been made to address the security concerns while little work has been done to investigate security and privacy for value-added applications in VANETs. To fill this gap, we propose a value-added application, specifically, a security and privacy preserving location-based service (LBS) scheme for VANETs. For each LBS transaction, the scheme provides authentication, integrity and non-repudiation for both the service provider and the user. A user can obtain the service in an anonymous way and hence user privacy is well protected. However, a tracing procedure can be invoked to find malicious users, thereby efficiently preventing users from abusing the anonymity provided by the system. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2012.

internet of things (IoT) built on the existing (mobile) internet has emerged as a solution to effectively interact with things around us. In order to meet the actual needs of monitoring laboratory equipments in college/university, we design and implement a smart equipment monitoring system to monitor the location information of the equipments based on ARM and RFID technology in this paper. Meanwhile we illustrate the main function component of the system, and introduce the design of the hardware and software of the lower computer.

For the realization of future wireless networks, gigabit wireless technology which can achieve higher-than-1Gbps data transmission with extremely low transmit power is indispensable. We have been studying the distributed antenna network (DAN) and the frequency-domain wireless signal processing. In DAN, many antennas or clusters of antennas are spatially distributed over a service area and they are connected by means of optical fiber links with DAN signal processing center (SPC). A number of distributed antennas cooperatively serve mobile users using spatial multiplexing, diversity, array or relaying technique. In this paper, the recent research advances of gigabit DAN and its related wireless techniques are introduced.
